Toa Brains?

Have any of you ever managed to get the brains out of an original Toa head? When I got my Takanuva some in 2004, I accidentally put the brains for Takanuva on the head for Jaller's gray mask and now I can never get it out to put in the right head.

I haven't removed any of those brain pieces yet. I don't know if you can even remove them. I'm pretty sure that once it's stuck on, it will be stuck on for a very long time.

There are two major ways of removing the brains. This one purports to be safer, but this is probably the better-known method.I have tried neither, but I know plenty of MOCists who have. Generally, I think that there's a preference for the one in the first link, but both are hit-or-miss: You could either get the eyes out or shatter the brain piece.~ BioGio

This method is one I've seen, but I've never tried it myself. It seems to be the simplest method around for separating these parts.

I've never found the need to remove one, not being a die-hard MOCer and all. Not that I haven't tried. Every attempt has ended in shameful failure.

This method is by far my favorite. I always use it. Definitely works better (And doesn't damage anything!).

Best way to fix this? Get new parts off of eBay or Bricklink or B/S/T or whatever. Those things are practically impossible to seperate, like when I got a short antenna rod jammed in a Meltdown tank so there was no room to pull the wide part and pushing didn't work because of the round tip. That took hours. This will take days.

Waaaaaay back in BZP's news archive is a crude method to remove the eyepiece.I've found some better ones on Brickshelf.Edit: Daiker posted the one I use.

I tried Ausar's method once. It did get the piece out, but I was foolish enough to be standing above it when the eyes came out and rocketed into the air.Let's just say I would have wound up removing my own eyes too if I weren't wearing glasses.I like the one Aanchir posted. Definitely gonna give it a shot some time. With goggles, just in case. x_x

I take a tiny screwdriver or a thin bladed knife and poke it out at the eye. Sometimes works, though with the knife method be very very careful =x I cut myself more than once that way ^~^;

I've only needed to remove a few of them, but I managed to do it without any scratches by using a pick intended for taking out crab meat and nuts once they've been cracked open. It's odd that we've never used them for either of those purposes, but they were excellent tools for pulling out "Toa brains."-Ced

i had trouble with those heads for quite awhile but i built a little device to pop it out. YEAH THIS IS MY 600TH POST

I was able to pry the eye pieces out with a butter knife, but you have to do this carefully to avoid damaging either piece.

I've never been actually able to take out one of those. My princer could do a great job, though, but I don't have it anymore

An interesting fact about the eye-removal method that BioGio and Chols mentioned is that it was actually posted in an ooold news post back in 2001.However, I admit that the method Aanchir mentioned appears the easiest. It looks like there's barely any force applied in that video.~B~

Daiker's way is the best, in my opinion. It's the most comfortable and the most reliable. It's also rather easy, if you have a strong enough grip. Plus it looks like you're putting the Toa in some kind of torture device or deathtrap, a la Saw.

I've always just used a butter knife and a fork to pry it off while pushing it off to prevent the piece from breaking. I'm sure the other ways listed are good, but I've never actually done them (maybe I should!)
