  1. I was wondering to myself what extra sets I would like to see come during the June and July months (since that's when Summer break is) to hold me over until August, when the sets are releasing. Go and discuss, my friends!
  2. **The mini version is now up! You can order it here: http://shpws.me/DEHV ** Eyyy, since I’ve seen more and more people try to replicate the Gen2 mask stands, I figured I might as well make one available for printing! I’ve made it available for 3 materials, since others are much more expensive. Wish I could’ve priced it lower, but it’s the absolute minimum Shapeways accepts. So yeah, outsides are completely accurate to the NYCC stands, so if anyone wants one, feel free to order it here: http://shpws.me/CaA6 *Note, Shapeways is down at the moment, it should be back up in a couple of hours. EDIT: Shapeways is up and running once again.
  3. http://mate397.deviantart.com/art/Vorabax-523767646 *Somewhere in the caves of the Earth region there was a small tribe of sentient insects that over time developed a trade route with the Earth Tribe and whenever there was a trade convoy they always stopped there to rest and trade with the locals. The chieftain of this Tribe is Vorabax . The insects evolved to dig with their big clawed legs, which did make their other two limbs a bit smaller, they also had wings they could use if they went up to the ground though the wings are only for short glides. The species is also only composed of hermaphrodites a single gender member was a rare occurrence to happen* Thought I give him a little make over, which wasn't much just new legs, backstory and a bit better wings, though that might be changed later on. http://mate397.deviantart.com/art/Vorabax-Legs-523770116 http://mate397.deviantart.com/art/Vorabax-Back-523770402 http://mate397.deviantart.com/art/Vorabax-Size-523770576
  4. http://mate397.deviantart.com/art/Hudu-and-Wudu-523758808 *In the ruins of the ancient city there was a shack, that look like it was part of the scenery rather than being a separate building, so only a well trained eye can see it. There two creatures lived, they moved in after the event happened where Makuta and Ekimu clashed, so the two thought they move in. The two skeletons were living in peace until the Lord of the Skull Spiders claimed it as his own, which forced them to strike a deal with him in order to stay safe. Wudu promised he'll resurrect a team of fallen warriors to combat the Toa in case the spider would fall in battle as a backup plan. Hudu gathered the ingredients for the ritual for Wudu then once they heard the death-scream of the giant spider they did the ritual to summon six fallen warriors to fight the Masters of Elements. * Since we got the leaks of the summer sets a while back, I had the idea of trying to be ahead of the curve and make skeleton related MOCs before the summer sets hit the stores, for this I did cannibalize my Witch Doctor set, true the set looked nice and all, but I honestly always had the feeling that I could put the parts for better use (still have no idea what am I going to do with those huge CCBS bone pieces though). I tried to make them look skeleton like as best as possible, while having some armor too, though I admit the ribs turned out a little short since I don't have bigger claw pieces to use, at least at the moment. Hudu detail shots: http://mate397.deviantart.com/art/Hudu-Big-arm-523760275 In his big hand he is carrying an enchanted skull, which he thinks it used to be his own http://mate397.deviantart.com/art/Hudu-Back-523760624 http://mate397.deviantart.com/art/Hudu-Side-523761005 Wudu detail shots: http://mate397.deviantart.com/art/Wudu-Front-523761209 http://mate397.deviantart.com/art/Wudu-Side-523761383 http://mate397.deviantart.com/art/Wudu-Back-523761561 http://mate397.deviantart.com/art/Wudu-Bone-Staff-523761754

  6. King Vultraz Four Matoran stood gathered around a faded yellow map, creased from many folds over the years. One Matoran, with white and gray armor, held a torch aloft; one, with bright red and yellow armor, held the map. One with blue and red armor carried a burlap sack filled with supplies and had a frying pan strapped to his hip; and the final member of the group was clad in dark red and black armor. “Are you sure that we’re in the right place?” the map holder asked, pointing to their location upon the map once again. “I’m pretty sure we’ve walked past the statue of Turaga Vakama drowning in moldy socks about six times now.” “You’re wrong, Jaller,” said the torch holder. “We’re over here - in the mountain pass. Well, it looks like a mountain pass on the map, at least. It looks more like a giant muaka died than anything.” “Don’t be gross, Mazeka,” the red and black armored Matoran snapped, fiddling with a plastic spoon. “I’m telling you that we’re on the right track - Voltex said this was the right path.” “We don’t even know Voltex, Vultraz!” Mazeka responded. “I don’t care if he said he used to be iBrow, he doesn’t look anything like him!” “Believe what you want,” Vultraz said, “but you decided to come along with me, and I’m in charge. I say we trust Voltex, which means we follow the path that Voltex gave us. Is that understood? Or do I have to leave you behind?” “No,” Mazeka muttered. “I wanna get rich too.” “Then let’s stop squabbling like birds and get a move on,” Vultraz said, continuing down the path. “Come on!” The others hurried forwards, Jaller folding the map up and tucking it into a pouch hanging on his shoulder and Mazeka doing his best to keep the entire group within the light of the torch. He had already made the mistake of allowing Jaller to leave the circle of light once; some sort of spidery creature had very nearly eaten the Ta-Matoran before the others had realized what was going on. “Do birds actually squabble?” asked the fourth member of the party. “I’ve always wondered that.” “Shut up, Takua,” Mazeka said. “You have not, you big fat liar.” As the blue and red Av-Matoran fell silent, Jaller spoke up again: “What exactly are we looking for, Vultraz?” “Bionicle is beginning again,” the Shadow Matoran answered, pulling a sword from its sheath at his waist and examining the blade. “Voltex told me of a mythical Kanohi mask that had been used to foretell it. He also accidentally informed me that whoever wears this Kanohi, whether they be Matoran, Toa, or some other being, shall become a king.” “King of what?” Jaller asked. “I dunno,” Vultraz said, shrugging. “I just thought it sounded cool.” “What if it turns you ugly?” asked Takua. “Takua, I swear to Mata-Nui, if you open your mouth one more time, I’m going to throw you off the next cliff I see,” Mazeka said. “Play nice, Mazeka,” Vultraz ordered. “The chamber of the mask requires four beings to open. We need to keep Takua alive until then.” “And after?” “I might allow you to kill him. Or I might allow him to kill you. How does that sound, Takua?” Takua shrugged, downcast, and Mazeka rolled his eyes irritably. The Ko-Matoran stomped forward, with the intent of “accidentally” leaving Takua behind - but unfortunately for him, he walked right into Vultraz, who had stopped without warning. With a cry, Mazeka fell backwards and dropped the torch; while Jaller and Takua combined managed to catch him, the torch rolled back down the hill they had been climbing, and vanished out of sight into the darkness. “...anyone have a light?” Mazeka whispered. “We don’t need one. We’re here,” Vultraz said from somewhere in front of him. “Come, put your hands on mine - theoretically, that should open the door.” “And if it doesn’t?” Mazeka asked, stepping forward carefully. “Then we shall undoubtedly be eaten by spiders,” Vultraz said, grabbing his hand and pulling it forward. “There - leave it there. Takua, Jaller, hurry up.” “We’re coming,” Jaller huffed. “Calm your horses.” The four Matoran had hardly held their hands against the rock wall in front of them for a moment when there was a blinding flash of green light and they felt the world spin around them. Who enters the Chamber of the Mask? “I do!” Vultraz announced, working on the assumption that the others could hear the voice in their heads as well. “I, Vultraz!” What do you wish to claim? “I wish to claim the great Kanohi mask,” Vultraz said, “and become King!” Ah, but King of what? “This guy is like Takua,” Mazeka muttered. “This conversation is already hopeless.” “Shut up and let him focus,” Jaller hissed. “King of Bionicle!” Vultraz yelled. “That is my title! Vultraz, King of Bionicle!” Then King of Bionicle you shall be, Vultraz. Slowly the world stopped spinning, revealing the surrounding area to be a massive, empty chamber - except for the pedestal in the center, upon which sat a golden mask; the great Kanohi of legend. A soft glow seemed to emanate from the mask, as it floated up into the air and towards the four Matoran. “I don’t like this,” Takua said. “Shut up,” Mazeka said. Reaching out, Vultraz grabbed the great Kanohi mask, wasting no time in shoving it upon his face. For a brief moment his whole being glowed gold; then the great Kanohi fused onto his old mask, giving the impression that Vultraz wore a crown. The Shadow Matoran turned to the others, seeming confused. “How do you feel?” asked Jaller. “Really powerful,” Vultraz said. “You know, like that feeling when you know that if you really wanted to, you could vaporize everyone in the room.” “...no, we’re not familiar with that feeling,” Mazeka said slowly. “Whatever,” Vultraz said, shrugging and glancing around. “You know, I really thought ultimate power would be more difficult to obtain.” “Technically it was,” Jaller pointed out. “It took you six years, and you had to go through how many dimensions?” “But I only learned about the great Kanohi mask this morning,” Vultraz said. “It took us less than a day to get up here and seize control of the universe. Somebody up there clearly wasn’t watching the security footage of the universe.” “So now what are you gonna do?” asked Jaller. “Who knows?” Vultraz said, shrugging. “I feel like I might go golfing. Or maybe start a zoo… or summon a herd of Guckoo birds to terrorize the village we passed on the way up. They need to learn to fear their new king.” “So that’s it?” Jaller asked. “You’re just going to terrorize the world?” “Basically,” Vultraz said. “at some point I’ll power you guys up so that you can help.” And that was that. The End. Just something I whipped up today. People were comparing the golden mask in the official Bionicle 2015 art to Vultraz's mask and making "King Vultraz" jokes, which culminated in this piece here. Upon viewing the picture I was inspired to toss this little story together; for those of you who read the Vultraz's Diner series, this can be considered canon. It takes place many, many years (or perhaps just one year) after One Last Stop. But none of that is required reading. Anyway don't expect any more of this, I've got my hands full with the Mafia epics and my FTL story.
  7. I had heard from a few people I know online that Target was putting certain sets on clearance already, but I didn't believe it until I saw it myself. Gali was marked down to $10. But none of the other sets had a "clearance" sticker on them, just Gali. Why Gali in particular, and no one else? Is she not selling well for some reason? I don't know what's unappealing about her. She's one of the more solid sets in my opinion and I can't imagine why she'd shelfwarm.
  8. I wanted something to hold my extra Toa masks when they were wearing either there standard or golden one. So I made a Suva Design in LDD .LXF file http://www.brickshel...i_suva_2015.lxf Pics (Each colored Bohrok tooth tells which mask goes where) (The one in the center is for the Mask Of Creation) http://www.brickshel...va_2015_001.png (Lewa, Tahu and Gali) http://www.brickshel...va_2015_002.png (Onua, Kopaka and Pohatu) http://www.brickshelf.com/gallery/takanuinuva/mc/kanohi_suva_2015_003.png (View of underside) I need to make some Bricklink orders for the real life version. Until then feel free to use this design for your masks as well.
  9. So like, is this a thing?

[gallery link] Side Back Bones Some more pics While i'm certain more people hold nostalgia to the first 3-6 years of Bionicle, my only 2015 purchases kind cornered my color scheme for this contest, and thus i bring a character from what was essentially Bionicle's last functioning year, hope i pulled this off, all the same.
  11. These semi-aquatic birds live on the coasts, lakes, and rivers of the Regions of Water and Jungle. They can fly, but they primarily use their wings to dive deep underwater. They subsist entirely on fish (and maybe the occasional crustacean). Though they look adorable, they can be incredibly hostile if threatened, and have been known to drive off the largest of predators. More pictures: Front Side Back Waddle
  12. Though Ekimu and Makuta were masters of the art of mask-making, they weren't the only mask-makers on Okoto.Long ago, Ekimu realized that he and his brother would not be around forever, so he decided to teach his craft to the people of Okoto. At the behest of Makuta, Ekimu only took in a few pupils, all under oath to only teach their knowledge to their families while the two Mask Makers still lived. All of Ekimu's students went on to become decent mask-makers in their own right, but the absolute best among them was a Stone Tribe member clad in yellow and silver. Known as the Helmsmith, he crafted thousands of masks, from children's masks to ceremonial wedding masks to full-fledged Kanohi Masks of Power. While not quite up to the standards of Ekimu (then again, with the Mask of Creation in his possession, who is?), his masks are still of incredible quality. Unfortunately for the people of Okoto, the Helmsmith decided to retire after the incident with the Mask of Ultimate Power. The rumor floating around is that seeing Makuta turn against Ekimu made him fearful that something similar will happen to him, so he chose to step down from mask-making rather than take the risk. 14. Hello! I was not sure where else to put this. I just made my first ever video review, I wanted to try out my gear and test all of the settings for future planned reviews (Look forward for a WMKK one soon!). As well as share the very nice Hero Pack with those of you who haven't been able to lay hands on it yet! Some feedback would be very much appriciated on how I can make my future reviews better! Keep in mind that I am not a native English speaker Bionicle Hero Pack Video Review
  15. 1. The Skull Spiders are part of the natural landscape of Okoto. This my be an "argument from ignorance" thing going. But somehow I doubt that the MoUP has the power to give life, only to corrupt life that exists (as witnessed with Makuta). So IMO the spideys would have to exist before the Ekimu incident. 2. If a creature (or perhaps even a villager) dies, it comes back as a Skull Spider. This sounds rather weird, but if a few small "Rahi" die and become Skull Spiders every so now and again, they wouldn't amass a huge army of them, presuming that a few of them get destroyed/eaten every so often. But if there was a massive shockwave to kill of a huge number of them at once, then a huge army of them could appear and become a problem. 3. Larger creatures, upon their death, become the Lord of Skull Spiders and similar villain-type-things. Given the normal rate of death, there probably would only be one of them at a time to direct the Spiders and keep them away from the villages. Now there are a bunch of them, and they could be mad at the villagers for causing their death via mask. And they want the masks for themselves to avoid something like that from happening again. I'm sure you can find a hole or two in this spiderweb. Go!
  16. I've heard people say how LOSS is out of scale...but looking at the recently released (and removed) videos, I've noticed that Onua isn't exactly to the same scale as his set. Any thoughts? What size do you prefer? Set? The animations? Also I guess this'd be the topic to talk about any other scale issues with the sets and animations. EDIT: added an album that shows the comparisons between set and animation http://imgur.com/a/4Q9HT

    I'm disappointed.

As Bionicle 2015 was announced and people started voicing their opinions on the reboot, I think I was definitely amongst the ones most strongly in support of it. I blogged about that quite a bit anyways. And I mean, I still love most of it. The sets are fantastic and I think the story that was set up at the beginning with this was really great. Okoto is beautiful, and I think they could have (still could) do some really great things. So it's honestly really disappointing how disappointed I am with the animations as a whole. The length I think is the main issue. One minute thirty seconds is nothing. It stifles sensible pacing, substantial character interaction, and exploration slash world building. Of course, we knew they were going to be this short since the reboot was formally announced, and it bothered me, but I was optimistic because of one thing: the assurance that there would be a lot of them. Nine episodes is not a lot. It's not even nearly a lot. It's nine minute and a half episodes. Of course, it might end up being a lot in the end. I expect, and most of all hope, that the summer will have more shorts dedicated to it. And they'll probably be a lot better, because the team will already be together and so we'll be able to see more of everyone instead of just Tahu. And the plot won't be as straightforward. I am sure I'll find those interesting. Way optimistic about those. But that's the future. Right now, all we have is nine, and they're...sigh. It's honestly just kind of frustrating, because I love the art style, I like the animation, the backgrounds are beautiful, I like the narrator, and I enjoyed pretty much every character interaction we saw. The problem is that we saw so little of all of that stuff than I don't think saying all that means much. They could have easily made something great, if only they could have expanded on all that stuff more. But they didn't because they couldn't because 1:30 isn't anything. The pacing was honestly just all over the place. Started too fast, got stuck focusing on Tahu, and then ended before one could even begin to take it all in. It just...isn't good. As much as I would want it to be, and as much as I want to like them. The way I was imagining it to go for the winter would probably require at least 18 episodes. 3 just to set up the story, and the Toa crashing down. Then 6 episodes, one for each Toa, on their journey towards their masks, where we would see a little character interaction, explore the Protectors as characters, see more of Okoto. Really basic stuff. Then 6+, at least one each of the Toa getting their masks. Then 3 or 4 of the Toa meeting up and doing all the stuff they ended up doing. I guess the last few episodes are fine, but I still feel we missed out on heaps of possible character interaction. Again, time is the issue. I think that's the basic structure that I would have been satisfied with, but even with 18 or so episodes I'm not sure they would have pulled it off that well. Not if they're stuck being 90 second animations. You can't really do anything in that time. Not without having it turn out feeling rushed. A bare minimum of 3 minutes per episode would have been great. Heck, if even the 9 we had were 3 minutes maybe that would have worked a lot better. I don't know. All I know is I'm not satisfied at all with what we got. Especially not fond of the fact that it turns out everyone who thought the Protectors would turn out to be nameless, faceless, non-characters were right. Biggest disappointment out of this whole thing, I think. I just really hope the books are good.
  18. With Bionicle 2015 growing closer every day, we grow more impatient for the new parts that will define the new line. Toa weapons, masks, the new shell attachment, recolors of older parts and even some technic parts are all very new, either being released this year or being introduced next year. My question is- which parts are you the most excited about? Think about it from lots of perspectives- MOCing, rarity, awesomeness looking, etc. Discuss! (The parts that I am hyped for the most are the three length technic pin/axle combos and the mata-torso-esque shell armor.)
  19. I bought a couple more Protector sets to built some MOCs. I think for my next project, I'm going to make a bunch of "B-list" Protector characters with unique designs (possibly including unique helmets as well). The goal is to have at least one character per village, though I might make extras if I have ideas for characters/generics. I already have one, so I need five more. So, without further ado, let's meet the characters: Baby Fire Villager Ah yes, the character I am contractually obligated to make as a Protector MOCist. Nothing really to say here, just enjoy. Nyx is one of those deputy Protectors, though she mostly spends her time in the Obsidian Mines. Thanks to the ancient Protector rite of "I know a guy", the Protector of Earth was able to get her a job down there keeping the miners safe from the creatures beneath the earth. The gig was a way for Nyx to hone her abilities and build character; As an added bonus, she's also made a few friends among the Miners' Guild. Nyx is a lot like her father in the sense that she's a rough-and-tumble, outgoing sort with a love for certain drinks (traits that she also shares with her fellow miners). Her hobbies include tinkering with munitions and building slightly dodgy gadgets; when combined with her preferred choice of beverages, these hobbies lead to things like the modified Miner's pack/back-mounted ammo dump that she's taken to wearing lately. Like all miners, Nyx wears a Mask of Sonar as part of her job. Unlike her fellow miners, hers is a hand-me-down from her family that was crafted by Makuta. Nyx swears to this day that the mask is just as good as its Ekimu-made counterparts, which is part of the reason why she still wears it despite the Mask of Ultimate Power fiasco. The people of Water are fishermen, the Stone Tribesmen are craftsmen, and the Earth Tribe villagers are miners. Distinguished from their fellows by a specialized backpack and heavier armor, these particular villagers can be found deep underground, digging up obsidian and other minerals. The miners are a tough, rock-headed bunch, known for partying and indulging while off-duty. They tend to charge head-first into danger, which usually gets them into trouble (Especially nowadays with the Skull Spider invasion). Miners are required to wear Masks of Sonar while on the job (though Masks of Night Vision and similar masks can be used). To aid with vision, their backpacks are equipped with lights, which have the double duty of scaring off the creatures lurking in the underground depths. Eckoh Eckoh's a salty old sea diver, eternally curious about what lies below the surface of the Great Ocean, and always on the hunt for the object of the latest rumor the sailors of the village of Water are passing around this week. His is an exciting life filled with adventure and danger...a lot of danger, based on the current state of his body. To say that he's seen better days is incredible understatement. Since Eckoh explores all of the time and has encountered quite a lot in the briny blue, he has a few tales of his own to tell. When he's not up to diving, he often hangs out at the local tavern, sharing his stories for all who listen. Among his tales, two are the most popular as of late: One tells of the Abyssal Ones, monstrous amalgamations of flesh and steel that lurk within the depths and feast on the souls of sailors unlucky enough to run across them; the other (and far more interesting, at least to the Protector of Water) tells of an underwater shrine, guarded by irate creatures, said to contain a golden Mask of Power within... The oh-so-lucky courier has been graciously volunteered as a forward scout for the Village of Ice, so now his job entails spying on the Skull Spiders, locating people and objects, and generally putting himself in the proverbial line of fire. Celeris was already a neurotic sort, always making sure to pack some survival gear along side his deliveries. The new job has done nothing to ease his issues; if anything, it's made them worse. He's far more prone to panicking now, which often leads to him making serious mistakes. As a courier, Celeris wears a Kanohi Kakama to make deliveries quicker. True, the people of Okoto's jungles are an eccentric people with their high reverence of nature and wide range of superstitions and rituals , but Najami takes it to a whole new level. For example, Jungle villagers like playing harmless pranks on outsiders for fun; Najami, meanwhile, sees such pranks as absolutely vital, as she believes that performing minor annoying/"evil" acts would allow one to avoid becoming "too" perfect and consequently reincarnating as an utterly evil being in their next life as a form of karmic backlash. Somehow. Despite her idiosyncrasies, Najami is well respected for the genuine good knowledge she possesses. Even the eccentricities seem to pay off for her at time, such as, say, predicting the exact time that Lewa and the other Toa would arrive(give or take a minute; she accidentally offered the Vuata Maca tree Verdelisk scales instead of Kahu down that day). Najami's Kanohi, the Calix, strengthens her reflexes and allows her to perform incredible physical feats. When she's feeling particularly mystical (or out of her gourd), she refers to the mask as "The Mask of Fate" since the acrobatic feats it grants her have allowed her to reverse her luck more than a few times. 20. As you can see in that pic (Linked here, in case it's too big and has to be removed), Ekimu clearly has a big yellow gear on his back a la the Toa. And, since Ekimu and Makuta are specifically said to be brothers, we can assume Makuta has one as well. Thoughts? Perhaps the Mask Makers were former Toa. Or maybe they're a special breed of Okotoan. Or perhaps they're literal Gods and this helps differentiate them from normal villagers. Or perhaps it's just there because the set version of Ekimu will have a gear function. Who knows? Post your thoughts/theories ITT.

  22. These questions are the opposite of those found in this topic. (Obviously. ) So what are your least favorite Bionicle 2015 sets? Like in the topic linked above, I separated the sets per their box size. And since I still don't own all the sets yet, I'm going to wait on voting until I purchase the ones I'm still missing. But now I want to see other members answers to these questions. So vote away.

I just completed kopakas stage and when i went back to the toa select menu there's a button on the lower left i could now access, welp, this was the result (i tried taking a snapshot from the menu but my phone can't so i used the games snapshot feature from a level) i've yet to beat the other toas stories but i'm sure they've got selectable combo models as well.
