Haha, that's a great way to put it! And i think it applies not just to Tuma, but to the whole movie--it really had the potential to be something interesting (Greg Farshtey provided the basic plot, after all), but they completely squandered it by executing it incredibly poorly. For instance, with Tuma, all that really needs to change is his portrayal. If he had behaved like a competent villain, and had actually been defeated in a legitimate fight, I think his role in the plot could remain the same without issue.

Hm. I think the problem in that case would be not the lack of dialogue, but the lack of a continuous "one scene sets up the next" plot, despite the plot being very complex. If you wanted to adapt it without using much dialogue, I think you'd need a narrator for large portions of it, which might make it seem dull or pointless. On the other hand, an animated adaptation wouldn't have to play up the battle scenes as much as a live-action one, which would help it stay a lot more faithful to the source material. Perhaps the solution is to only adapt certain parts that do have a more linear narrative, like the story of Beren and Luthien. As an FYI to naysayers, please do remember that Samurai Jack did this and pulled it off incredibly well. Indeed. I've only seen a little bit of it, but it was done excellently and I could definitely get behind an animated Silmarillion adaptation using some similar techniques.

I don't know if the Silmarillion would work well as a trilogy; most of it is told in narration, not dialogue, so the screenwriters would have to invent quite a lot of dialogue. At least in the Hobbit movie trilogy, I found much of the screenwriter-invented dialogue to be rather poor; It had a different, more modern, style and cadence than Tolkien's dialogue. So unless they hire someone who can more effectively mimic Tolkien's style, I can't say I look forward to a Silmarillion movie. The Children of Húrin could work, though, since it has more dialogue and is fleshed out in greater detail than much of the Silmarillion. Also, thanks for mentioning that 4 hour edit of the Hobbit movies; it sounds interesting!

Assuming something like this were a feasible possibility...I'd have to go with Obsidian. Both companies really good at crafting open worlds, but Obsidian is considerably better at telling a thoughtful story than Bethesda these days. As for customization, why not let the player choose which of the six Toa to play as, make a party-based game where you control all of them, or have different levels in which you control different characters?

Just for the sake of speculation, maybe the GBs could be the last survivors of a race that predates the Agori and Glatorian?

The CGI in the remastered TOS episodes is really distracting to me--it actually bothers me more than the Star Wars special editions. I definitely agree that the original effects, however cheesy, are the way to go.

Wow, this is great news! Though didn't they release a re-recording of The Snow Goose recently? They did in fact do so, as well as a supporting european tour. I need to get that album from somewhere and see how it compares to the original some time. just won't satisfy the craving for new camel though Yeah, I've yet to check it out myself, though I've heard really good things about it. But new material > re-recordings, for sure.

4/5; possibly my favorite song by them. It's happy, but also a bit bittersweet. And I love the string section on it.
