Cloverfield, Alien, and Predator do have their really gnarly moments, but the gnarliness in and of itself is not the source of the terror.

(Also, go see 'em. Especially Alien, 'cuz Ellen Ripley. But Predator too for the incredible display of '80 Masculinity)

Conjecture: Since it's basically your eyes right up against a screen (which in turn is simulating depth), maybe? Do other ('normal') games appear to have depth? If so, then there's a chance it'll work. Peripheral vision wise it'd be like real life, though.

That fight looked ripped from Arkham and actually made me kinda happy. This trailer does make me actually quite interested in the movie (more than the other ones did), but it also seems so tonally different from the others.
