  1. By that logic, for movies isn't it better to just buy the DVD and avoid the theater altogether?

Do you consider the theater an experience?

I shelled out $23 to see The Force Awakens in Imax at midnight. I paid for the movie and the screen, but also for the fun of going there with friends, lining up, and hanging out on the day I passed my thesis defense.

  2. I'm still waiting on a gay dude protagonist in something that isn't utterly trashy.

I'm not one for identifying based on race or gender really, but honestly, I'd be fairly satisfied with more characters that weren't obviously handicapped without making it a plot point. I guess mental illnesses sort of covers that, but I guess something more physical would be appreciated.

And see, that's why diversity is important. We want these narratives where folks can be things! A good friend of mine has half a hand (I call her Halfhand, she calls me Heartless or Iron Man... we're buds like that) and she's spoken to me about her complicated feelings on Hook in Once Upon A Time because of that. We need more stories!

And Tekulo, watch Crazy-Ex. The purest, most dearest romance is a gay one.

    ...

I get really fired up about diversity, guys.
