  1. I, too, enjoy a train every once in a while
  2. Just found this mother lode of a thread and, I have to say, this has left me speechless. You have done a great service to this entire community and to every current (and future) Bionicle fan out there, TuragaNuva! Thank you so much. I am saving this for a binge-read when I have more time and am quite looking forward to it. I can't even imagine how much work and time went into this, but I think it was well worth it! haha All the best!
  3. Oh boy, oh boy, oh boy! Such great news! Six-year-old me is hopping with joy as 19-year-old me lets a small tear roll down his cheek...sniff...it's just dust, is all, I swear...
  4. Beautiful art from Christian Faber, as is to be expected! Although all signs point to the contrary, I really hope he is involved with the Bionicle relaunch in (at least) some small, official way.
  5. This is kind of a touchy subject, especially since we have no way of knowing if Bionicle is coming back next year, if at all. But I do agree with almost everyone that's commented on this topic. Personally, I think a new storyline set many years after the end of the storyline as we know it would be best. It would allow the new people working on the theme, and fans old and new, to get a fresh perspective on the series and get away from the confusing, muddled arcs that sprouted up near the end, while working off the main pillars that characterize it. If not, a decent clean-up is in order. Lego will have to tie up, clarify, or summarize the many events the rocked the Bionicle universe in just ten years. I imagine it'll be like entering a mess of a room, evidence left behind after a quick exit: chairs overturned; papers and general clutter strewn around; a few stubborn cobwebs; and a fine layer of dust concealing its true nature. The room was all but abandoned by Lego, and loyal fans like those of us at BZPower couldn't bear to leave it behind it. We've tried to keep the room as orderly as possible, but some messes are just too big to handle alone. And some stains can only be removed by the creators themselves. I don't know if Farshtey is the man to do it. Maybe it's best they keep him on as a consultant or something, and bring in some fresh faces to work on the story. But I digress. Whatever happens, I hope that BZPower stays the same, continuing to be the welcoming and generous community it is. New fans should be welcomed as every fan was. Why should anything change? At its core, the site should be the same as it was when it started.
  6. Ehhh I've got a bad feeling about this reboot...but the Lego sets will surely be fantastic. And I actually just realized that the Chris Pratt from The Lego Movie is the same Chris Pratt that plays Star-Lord...
  7. We should be able to get some playing done during these last days of the Beta, then...we wait till September. :3
  8. Funny how the first post in this topic also involves LCD Soundsystem! hahaha On the musical instrument/accessories side of things: Fresh reeds for my sax, new Dunlop Jazz III guitar picks (my favorites), some mouthpiece guards, and a new Charlie Parker sheet music book, as if the omnibook wasn't enough. And my most recent recording purchase was about a month ago, actually, getting Kimbra's new record The Golden Echo on vinyl. Comes out in August! ~LH
  9. Hmm you could say it is a cross between those other franchises. Taken from its Wikipedia entry: Destiny is set seven hundred years into the future in a post-apocalyptic setting following a prosperous period of exploration, peace and technological advancement known as the Golden Age. In a universe where humans have spread out and colonized planets in the Solar System, an event known as "the Collapse" saw the mysterious dissolution of these colonies, the end of the Golden Age, and mankind teetering on the brink of extinction. The only known survivors of the Collapse are those living on Earth, who were saved by "the Traveller", a white, spherical celestial body whose appearance centuries before had enabled humans to reach the stars. The Traveller now hovers above the last remaining human city, and its presence allows the "Guardians of the City"—the last defenders of the human race—the ability to wield an unknown power, only referred to as "The Light". Upon mankind's first attempt to repopulate and reconstruct after the Collapse, it is discovered that hostile alien races have occupied mankind's former colonies and civilizations and are now encroaching upon the City. The player takes on the role of a Guardian of the City, and is tasked with reviving the Traveller while investigating and destroying the alien threats before humanity is completely wiped out.
  10. Great job! That first pose is almost a dead ringer for the early 2001 promo art. At least, from what I remember ~LH
  11. Happy happy birthday!! Wow, BZP's finally a teenager! They grow up so fast :') To many more anniversaries!
  12. Yep, that's how I was able to enter it. BZP redirected me to the PayPal website Awesome raffle, by the way!
  13. The Chronicler's Company, ah, what a fantastic-looking group! Awesome, awesome job, Click, they look great. I'd love to get my hands on them, but I suppose pictures will have to do. Takua's design is especially eye-catching. I'm loving the color scheme in his design, and in all of the matoran. Wish I had even half the pieces required to build these...great job securing the pieces you needed! Happily worshiping you, ~LH
  14. You like Kopaka? That's snow problem...what a "ice" avatar! And can I just say that I love you guys and your puns.
  15. I was surprised to receive a beta invite e-mail from Sony. Downloaded it and started playing it earlier today. And...I had fun! The controls, presentation, and gameplay are incredibly tight, as per Bungie standards. The controls are especially silky-smooth, with satisfying sound design and animations, to boot. Seriously, that sound design is amazing. Definitely getting the soundtrack... So far, the quest design is alright, nothing revolutionary. Admittedly, I haven't spent enough time with the game, but I don't think it's going to change much once the game's out of Beta. This type of thing is surely locked in by now. Hopefully the final product offers enough variety. Voice acting is all over the place. Some of the characters have great dialog and corresponding performances, but one surprisingly underwhelming performance from Peter Dinklage (as Ghost. No, not Jon Snow's direwolf. Yes, it's the same Peter Dinklage from A Game of Thrones) continues to bewilder me. Surely an actor of his caliber could have done much better? The visual style and overall art direction is very impressive (the environments and sleek, clean menus are especially attractive) and graphics and performance hold their own, even on last-gen hardware (I played the beta on PS3). Story and lore holds potential, but I think the beta does a poor job setting up the universe. Again, I did only start today, but the final game has to establish the feel and state of the world it's introducing from the very start. I'll definitely need to spend more time with it to decide if it's something I want to commit to come September. But I recommend you try it out for yourself, especially if you are a fan of Halo, FPSes, Mass Effect, or Star Wars.
  16. No. I think they're both great in their own way, although I am more of a Mac user. Is the answer to this question yes?
  17. Yep, I was totally getting a HowToBasic vibe. It's the whole unsettling POV gesturing and build-up. Totally expected to see an egg theere at the end haha but it'd be sad to see a piano like that getting covered in yolk.
  18. First up would have to the comics, out of old habit. Then General Discussion and S&T.
  19. Reading through these posts brings back so many great memories! But instead of dwelling on the past, why not look to the future? The so-called Golden Days are long gone, but the site is still kicking. These are another kind of golden days, one where the most steadfast of members, writers, comic-makers, contributors, etc., remain on the site and keep the Bionicle dream going for future fans. We got a great community here and incredible talent and creativity around. We have the potential to keep improving the site, iterating on what has been done and keeping it around for future fans. To me, that is all that matters. ~LH
  20. Although I would love a Bionicle revival, we have to face the facts and assume that it's just not going to happen, at least not nearly in the scale of what it used to be. But I do agree, Bionicle is not truly dead, not as long as Bzpower lives. If BZP were to finally shut down, that is the day Bionicle will finally have died. I've broken some promises of my own. At least, promises I made to myself. A promise to relaunch my comic series. A promise to continue my comedy series. A promise to be more active on the site. Promises that will have to remain unfulfilled. But I will continue coming back to BZP. ~LH
  21. I'm in a similar place, later this year I'll be turning 20 myself. (!) Seeing this community still alive and kicking makes me incredibly happy and I'll come back to it for as long as it is still up. I suppose Bzpower was the first website a lot of the early members became attached to. This is certainly true in my case, so Bzpower will always hold a special place in my heart. ~LH
  22. I think I found it while searching for something Bionicle-related on the ol' Google search. It was either 2003 or 2004, and in December 2004 I made my account. Bonus: My first username was Toa Lhikan of Fire (I think) which was soon changed to Darthe Vader - Dark Lord of the Sith (don't ask me about the typo), then back to Lhikan possibly, first time using Lionheart, then some LH alternatives, then Hawkeye during a Marvel craze on the forums where tons of members were changing their avatars and usernames to Marvel characters, and finally back to Lion Heart, this time for good.
