  1. How long will the judging go on? I'll be more free to read them all when my semester is over.
  2. Thanks Erebus, and thanks Greg!
  3. He's got a Rahkshi head. It's got two eyes. The hole in the top of his head is no more likely to be an eye than it is on the Rahkshi or Rahaga, which it isn't.
  4. He's just not wearing one. He's got a water-breathing helmet on, but no mask.
  5. I wouldn't get too excited. We already knew this. They're never going to toss Bionicle in the bin completely, but for now, and the forseeable future, Hero Factory is serving every purpose they needed Bionicle for. Think like the gap between runs of Knights Kingdom or Space Police as a reference for how long untill Bionicle might be considered to return.
  6. There was a preliminary poll, where the mask of healing got the most votes, and then a final poll, with narrowed-down options, wherein Huna was winning, but it was cut off.
  7. There was a contest to decide Naho's mask. Kakama was an option, but Huna was winning by a big margin. The contest was interrupted and unfinished when BZPower went on hiatus lat year.I always thought it was pretty stongly implied that it was not Naho who wore the Kamama. is akways listed like, blahblahblah, and Naho, and someone who wore a Kakama, and blahblahblah,
  8. When a matoran becomes a Toa by normal process, they take on an appearance which reflects their impression of what a Toa is.When the Toa Metru were created, the Toa they were most familiar with was Lhikan, so their build and armour matched the aesthetic of his.Note that they did retain their proper mask shapes, and the colours of their own elements. When Takanuva became a Toa, he resembled the Toa Nuva because they were his most prominent frame of reference.A matoran who hasn't seen a Toa before, will embody their impression of a Toa, within the limits of an actual Toa's physiology. (If for some reason, the matoran thought Toa had wings, tenticles and two heads, he wouldn't look like that when becoming one.)There are a few exceptions. The Toa Inika were created by a method that is not fully understood. They were weird all over, and their appearance does not necessarily reflect their impression of a Toa.Helryx, Orde and the Toa Mata were created as Toa. They were never Matoran and their designs come from the engineering of Mata Nui and Artakha. Greg has suggested that Helryx may look similar to the Toa Mata in design, given their similar origins.Personally, I prefer to imagine that variations of the Toa Metru design are the most widespread for most of relavent history. That way, the Toa Haga can be uniform as well as the Toa Mangai.some Toa, like Krakua, have origins which were not explained in detail. We dont know exactly by what means he became a Toa, or if he'd ever seen one before, so his design may have been inspired by Helryx, or someone who was not a Toa, but looked heroic to him, or by anybody, or just his own imagination.Consider that those such as Tanma who became Toa in alternate universes would have had points of reference specific to their timelines,Perhaps there are some who became Toa in a different timeline who look different from other universes even as Toa, because they had different experiences.
  9. I always took it that when nyone else wore it, or when he did in a different form, the mask was upright like it was made to be, but he wore it flipped in at least that one form fro 2003 (and probably more) because he liked it that way.maybe he used to wear t upright all the time and now he flis it since he took over the brotherhood.maybe he shapeshifted it to have a flipped face so it ws scarier. It's up to your imagination really.Theres only one Kraakhan in the universe, so we dont exactly have one to compare as the "normal" forme.
  10. Dume did something toward making Lhikan a Toa, but didnt give up his pwer for it.Theres no reason to think Dume couldnt have created new Toa with his power, but theres also no evidence for it. It's completely up in the air.A consideration: Lhikan gave up his power to create six Toa. Maybe Dume could have transformed Lhikan, just one Toa, without using up enough power to become a turaga.
  11. when exactly did the "one thought dead" quote come up? Could it have referred to Mavrah?
  12. Not Guardian or Ignika.I don't know if it's literally meant to be someone who actually wrote memoirs or not, but Ignika certainly never sat down to write about the short time he existed. And the mask and conciousness are still alive.Guardian died in Reign of Shadows, which was in 2009. the time period we're writing about is anything up to the end of 2008/start of 2009
  13. The details on how the adaptive armour works are vague. I think Greg and the story team like to leave it to your imagination a little. That's kinda Lego's MO.I always imagined that the Default Forme of the tools were to resemble their old ones, but this is an arbitrary preference on my part. No details have been given on what their tools looke like in Default Forme.I don't know if Pohatu's Feet Additions count as Armour or Tools now. I always supposed unorthadox tools.BS01 calls Tahu's tool a rotating fire blade because that's the only form we know of for certain. Maybe it should be edited to just say "adaptive tool".I think the Tools become part of the armour for storage. They get compacted down into it really tight. In the movies, everyone seems to have an invisible backpack that they keep stuff in. They just put it behond their back and it dissapears. I think this is artistic licence in the Mirimax movies and non-canon. Most people have to carry their stuff around or holster it. but i think the adaptive tools fold back up into the armour for things like Pilot Forme and just usual storge. Again, not something that was specified in great detail, but a logical assumtion, I think.Another thing that was never explained in great detail is the definition of armour. The word is sometimes used to mean just the outermost buly stuff (like the to nuva's silver chests and shoulders or Lhikan's Gold components) But sometimes It refers to the entire mechanical makeup of their bodies (like when talking about Makuta) , and sometimes somewhere in between.I've always imagined (again just me, left to my own logic) That there is some armour which can just be pulled off as easily as a mask (like what is a distinct piece on the set), some armour which can be dismantled and taken off with difficulty (such as details molded into parts which cant actually be taken off of the toy) and some armour (which at this point is not so much armour as metal skin) which can only be taken out surgically. When the scene is described in the book of them taking off their masks and armour and replacing them, I imagined just the silver parts and the masks, and replaced those, but maybe they more extensively removed shin armour and stuff too. maybe they stripped right down to organics and framework. Again, Greg leaves the details to your imagination. The adaptive armour in it's formes that we've seen looks like a full-body thing, not just the outermost armour. Also, it was confirmed that in Default Forme, the adaptive armour takes the shape of their original 2002 formes, but retains the colour scheme of the phantoka/mistika sets (see my sig!).We can only assume that his applies to their whole bodies. Pohatu would look pretty ugly with an orange mask and nuva armour, but still brown and tan everything else. So, I resolved to imagine that the adaptive armour was given to them in the shape of their mask and outermost armour (the silver stuff they took off) and once on, expanded and folded across their bodies, bushing everything but their framework (the surgical layer) out of the way and off, leaving them with the adaptive armour over their whole bodies and slick new colour schemes for all.
  14. I'd absolutely reccomend it to a Bionicle fan, but it's cerainly not top-notch gaming by normal standards.
  15. The power lance was also huge. Maybe he just didn't feel like he wanted to lug it around all the time.
  16. When Takanuva grew into a larger body, his armour changed shape. Part of tha may have been because of his light drain, but that doesn't seem to have had an effect on anyone else's physical shape. (the shadow matorna who grew wings and whatnot were given them by the makuta, it wasn't an effect of their light drain)We don't have any confirmation on whether the Av-Matoran changed shape or just size, but if either answer is as good as the other I prefer that they changed shape as well. It seems to fit better. One possibility to consider is that the Av Matoran were built first, before Matoran were perfected. They have more access to their elemental powers and whatnot. It's possible that if their natural form is different from other matoran, that doesn't necessarily mean that the rest are different from each other. That's a good point. In fact, now that you say it, I'd be surprised if that hadn't happened more than once in 100000 years. Even in that case, though, that would be a reason why their different from their natural form that they were originally built into by Artakha or the Great Beings.
  17. Does anybody remember if Greg said whether he had this planned or not back when this character was introduced?
  18. The matoran from 2004 are the standard, unaltered Matoran.Every other matoran we've seen as a set or in a comic has either been that build, or has had a story reason why they are different. The Mata Nui matoran were shrunk, then built back up to bodies similar (but not exactly the same) as their original form. The Voya Nui matoran were rebuilt and the Mahri Nui matoran were, from that mutated back to bodies similar (but not exactly the same) as their original form. The Av-Matoran in Karda Nui grew into larger bodies because of the energy of the core.Mazeka rebuilt himself into a stronger body. Vultraz was rebuilt by Gorast. The only matoran we have images of, which are decidedly in their natural, unaltered form, are the ones in Metru Nui.While it's perfectly possible that there's some natural diversity in their construction, we've got no evidence for it, so by default, I would assume that they were all built on the same model, especially because Greg and the Story Team have taken the time and effort to come up with an explaination for every Matoran who is different.
  19. I don't think they took the time to sit down and decide. Stuff was happening and they just needed to work together. There was no time for a little comittee meeting to appoint an official leader.
  20. Aha! I was rooting for him! Thanks, Erebus. If my opinoin means anything, I think this fellow's BS01 page should be left alone untill we have it revealed in a story update.Has Greg said anything on his sitution? I know he's too busy for writing, but you'd think he could at least give us a "Hello! Sit tight!"Hope he's doing well.
  21. As an authorized Contest Judge, I have read and judged this entry:Memory by ExitumI approve this entry. No problems were found.
