  1. Pulled them down for a move, but not planning to take them apart just yet. Actually planning on adding more shelving instead. Why make room when you can add more.
  2. Mostly lurking, particularly in BD/GD/BST. I used to frequent Fan Created Media a ton in the past, haven't had as much time to get to it lately.
  3. Secretly, I'm waiting for the day that we discover they deceived us all and that the waist-gear does something completely different.
  4. I'd be interested in Keetongu, Lhikan & Kikanalo (if available), and maybe some other bits and bobs. Sent along a PM.
  5. Believe I picked up Kopaka first. Think Lewa and Pohatu came next? 10/10, would buy again.
  6. Ooh! Somehow I never realized that orange is the color for stone in this case. Total brain fart--I thought it was a seventh color for some reason.
  7. Hey all, does anybody know of the origins of the Trans-Orange Kaukau? I recently picked one up and it's got me wondering. I know it isn't considered a true misprint, but of course it also deviates from the usual color pattern. Bricklink prices seem to indicate that it's rarer than the average '01 mask as well. Anybody know why it made it into fairly broad production? Early attempt at a red one, maybe?
  8. And it's here, many years later, that I finally realize that the "Brotherhood of Makuta" refers to the plural, not the singular (even if the Matoran actually mistook it as singular). Time Trap was a great book, btw. Probably one of the best.
  9. I remember seeing the preorder ad for Tahu + Vakama on the back of the...May-June '01 Lego Magazine. At the time it they seemed odd to me, but that was probably my first encounter with Bionicle. I got really interested in it after reading the first comics in July. Between those and MNOLG, I was hooked. I remember how disappointing it was to have to wait for the next stage of the game to release. You could play through the Nui Rama fight sequence, but not actually enter the hive to rescue Le-Koro, etc. It just sat on the loader and spun. People also forget that back then dial-up was a thing, and it could take 10+ seconds for a panel to load. Minutes for the minigames.
  10. Really love the style of the early Mata Nui comics (have the poster panels from them up on the wall). They always had little details--grime, the way characters moved (Lewa perching, etc.)--that somehow made all of these mechanical parts fit naturally into a biological world. They have some of Greg's better dialog too. Least favorite is probably the late Battle for Power/Glatorian series. The art adhered too closely to the sets while missing the little bits of magic that made the (stylistically similar) early comics so effective. The narration also broke character too much with little sales pitches ("Find out his backstory in _____").
  11. Picked up a Bionicle Master Builder Set (very excited). The lot came with a spare Tahnok, Pahrak, and Nuhvok too. Adds to mah swarm.
  12. ^Good price on that Karzahni. Grabbed mine around the same time for like...$60 (complete with box though, so that screws with the price a lot).
  13. Yeah, I suspect that we're reading too far into some of these (i.e. "Mata Nui is big"). Probably reading too much into Vakama mentioning that he "fell from the sky" as well. :/ That's always been the standard mythos that the Turaga told to give the Matoran at least some sort of history (without telling the literal truth). Very few beings inside the GSR actually knew that that's where they were, right?
  14. This. Definitely hoping for a bit more of the old Technic feel. Less smooth, more mechanical.
  15. Do we have a complete list of them somewhere? Want to make sure I don't miss any on my next play-through.
  16. Have a gold Vahi, would be interested in some combo of the copper Komau, movie krahkaan, and/or spare misprints.
  17. Okay, inventoried my collection, and here's what I'd be interested in: Kanohi: Silver Pakari, Orange Kaukau Kanohi Nuva: Red Miru & Kakama, Blue Kakama, Black Kaukau & Hau Krana: Yellow: Bo, Su White: Vu Dk. Gray: 1x Bo Lime: Su Green: Za, Bo, Vu, Ja Red: Ja Tan: Su, Vu Met. Gray: Bo Met. White: Bo + Pouks, what the heck. That said, I'm noticing that Bricklink is averaging 20-40c each, rather than 75. Would you consider, say, $4.25 for the above group? (Just over 30c/each). That puts me at a total of 3.00 + 10.00 + 4.25 + 1.00 = 18.25. Granted, others have requested some of these, so let me know what's still available and we can go from there.
  18. Does the Pouks come with the instructions/box, or are they missing too? Need to check my mask collection to confirm, but I'd love to lay a tentative claim to the red Kaukau + red Kakama/Miru Nuva.
  19. Any chance that Bionicle could still be rolled under Technic? Technic as a whole doesn't seem like a line where I'd expect significant growth (seems more like a slow-and-steady 5% growth type of line), but Bionicle, if in fact popular, could cause a spike.
  20. Really hope they keep adding in nods and jabs to G1 like this for a while still. I know G2 eventually needs to really develop its own personality, but it helps keep us old G1 fogeys happy.
  21. Recently picked up Tehutti, Ehrye, Turaga Nokama, Vultraz, and (oddly enough) a Visorak Battle Ram. Also eyeing some Manas pretty carefully. Too many obscure holes in my collection. :/
  22. I own a couple of these boards (QX27 & 38). Would direct scans be helpful for you or are the eBay pics sufficient?
  23. If a kid asked for one of the Skull villains or Protectors, the parent would still be very prone to getting the wrong set due to the prefix and repetitive name structure. Having non-prefixed/suffixed names, like Witch Doctor, Splitface or even Kulta would be much easier to memorise. Any good parent would note the name of the set rather than attempting to memorise it, but having generic names is still a bit safer. What I always found most effective with Bionicle was to ask for sets by color. My parents/grandparents were pretty good about recognizing new/previous lines, so as long as a "You already have green, blue and red, right?" conversation happened, names were a non-issue. That said, characters like the skull villains would probably have to be described based on weapons/format ("scorpion"), just because the colors are less clearly delineated (and they're all on a purple background, etc.).
  24. Gonna second this. I found both sets underwhelming from a box-art perspective, but I love the IRL, Rahi-esque builds of each. LoSS has a satisfying amount of actual Technic framing, and Scorpio makes CCBS interesting again (plus a reliable function with a great weight to it).
