  1. The pieces mentioned by Chronix are one type of prototype. As far as I can discern, there are basically three types: early designs for a piece, test molds for finalized pieces and pieces made for in-progress set designs. The first type is totally different from the pieces that are produced, and these pieces are generally destroyed before making it into the hands of collectors. They include the aforementioned 2015 prototypes. The second type is characterized by details like codes on the exterior and sections of plastic that are thinner/thicker than the final pieces. These are test pieces for finalized designs. The third type includes pieces like the Metru blue Matatu and Binkmeister prototypes - pieces that are made with finalized molds but in colours to suit incomplete set designs. -Letagi

  3. BUBBLE WRAP Also could Majhost please work again? My blog looks ridiculous. -Letagi
  4. Right, which why I said they might still exist, and why I was hesitant to add them in the first place. But there isn't really any reason to keep them off the list. -Letagi Edit: Trans-blue Rau's been added. Also, check this out - it's another price guide topic from the old forum that I either don't remember or have never seen. Check out those VMKK/GPKK prices! If only they were still that low. In other news, we're now at over 400 posts! I'm so glad this topic has been a success.
  5. Chronix is correct, there were two trans-blue Noble Rau in the prototype Manas. They've never been seen outside of one official picture of the set from LEGO, but they did exist and might still. I'll add them to the list. -Letagi

    Have you prepared?

Regarding astronomical events, while some such as comets and eclipses are consistent and predictable, many are not. Good ones are supernovae and solar flares. Also, backwards time travel is generally a very bad thing because it involves messing with the future path of the thing that traveled, meaning the exact circumstances of the trip through time are altered, creating a cascade of paradoxes that will tear the universe apart. Okay, I made up that last part. But backwards time travel definitely messes with causality. Unless everything is predetermined, in which case the time travel itself is what sets the stage for it to happen. See Star Trek: First Contact. -L
  7. Going back to the problem of displaying Kraata, I just discovered that these work really well: http://www.bricklink.com/catalogItem.asp?P=4623 They aren't totally concealed by the Kraata, but I still think they'd look good. They'd also be a pretty sturdy method of attachment, and they're really common. -Letagi

    Regarding name changes

I just checked, and I'm going on six and a half years since my last name change... I guess I found one I like? I've also almost never had anything but Kongu as my avatar, interestingly. -L

On the Bass and My Hands

Fishers - that's actually not embarrassing at all. Lots of orchestral and symphonic musicians pay hundreds of dollars on special earplugs that are designed to block out just the correct amount of sound without compromising listening ability, and marching bands are even louder. Anyways, I happen to play string bass as well. I picked it up just three years ago, but I've been playing flute for almost nine years. Regarding the blisters, I know you said that calluses form, but could it be that you never take a long enough break from playing for them to properly develop? And like you say, strings could be the other major factor. My high school's bass had these awful strings and I got blisters quite frequently, but since buying my own bass with obviously better strings it's been much less painful. They're D'Addario Helicore. -L
  10. Okay, just added the HF Recon chest piece. First HF piece on the list! I also linked to a better picture of the solid gold Skull Spider mask. I don't think it's Breann's photo after all; it was on her Facebook but includes the stand, which she never received sadly. Apparently they were made with materials that hadn't been tested for safety or something to that effect. MC, I notice the misprint gold Kraata is in that picture. Did you sell/trade it to TLH, or is there more than one out there? -Letagi
  11. Yeah, I can definitely add the HF recon chest piece if you guys think it belongs. Chronix, no I didn't get any photos, but Breann has some good ones that I can link to. I'll make the changes when I'm at a real computer. -Letagi
  12. huh - are the trans-orange Kraata with the shoes? Those are quite valuable even on their own. You could make a pretty hefty profit here. Here's a really neat Piraka display: http://www.ebay.ca/itm/Very-Rare-2006-Lego-Bionicle-Piraka-Store-Display-Complete-Set-of-6-Thok-Rediak/231277961979?_trksid=p2047675.c100010.m2109&_trkparms=aid%3D555012%26algo%3DPW.MBE%26ao%3D1%26asc%3D29951%26meid%3Dee212853a17340d5a8b8d1054ce0e105%26pid%3D100010%26rk%3D4%26rkt%3D24%26sd%3D141631733944 Definitely overpriced, but maybe the seller would respond to an offer? -Letagi
  13. Finally got around to some updates for the first time in a few months! Sorry I haven't been too active here recently. Such is the life of a university student. Among the updates were the pearl light gold Visorak shells, and something for Munty to check out. Also, a month ago I went to BricksCascade in Portland, and Breann/Roa McToa who happens to be a good friend of mine was there. She brought along her gold Skull Spider mask, which I got to inspect. It really is a thing of beauty. I also now have the clear and trans-orange 2015 Tahu masks, courtesy of DeeVee and Kakaru respectively. And maybe something else really exciting on the way in the possibly near future. Oh, and one of those beautiful Bionicle 2015 t-shirts that were only given out at NYCC 2014, also from DeeVee. Thanks a lot! Always nice to see new names around this topic. -Letagi

    800?

I hear ya. I've been around nearly as long and just hit 700. But then, I disappeared for about three years, so perhaps I can be forgiven. -L

    BrickFair VA? Hmmm.

It's still up in the air for me, but if I do go I'd be down to split a hotel again, if you are. -L
  16. Ooh, someone should grab those TOK shoes. I would but I already have a TOK and have no interest in the shoes. -Letagi
  17. I think it's more likely that they were in early releases of the set, just like the PLGK and the bley Rhotuka, but were switched to dark gold after a very short time. Regardless, I'll add them to the list. Did they come in variations other than Vohtarak? -Letagi
  18. I think TBOC was asking about acquiring boxes without buying 50 bags. I, and I suspect many others as well, might be interested in a few bags and a box, but I doubt you'll find anyone on here willing to pay $500. -Letagi
  19. If you can hold onto number 10 until sometime during the summer I'd be very interested. I just don't have the money on hand, and won't until I find summer employment. -Letagi

    2028

I'm reporting this entry. No leaked info allowed on BZPower. -L
  21. This. I've found that all the people and excitement at cons can be a bit much even when everything's going great. A break from interaction with people is often a good idea. -L
  22. I'm sorry to hear that. BrickUniverse not going so well? -L
  23. I can't see the exact price either, but presumably it was less than $120. Perhaps incredible was a slight exaggeration (prices always seem lower at first in GDP), but I'm pretty sure a sealed Takutanuva would usually sell for a lot more. -Letagi
  24. Do we know who won the sealed Takutanuva? That was an incredible price! -Letagi
