  1. Ekimu's colors were my favorite part of him, so I'm glad we're getting at least that. The big guy sounds really neat-- black on trans-red? That's pure evil right there They sound like a really cool bunch of sets, lots of variety, they've all got some unique selling point. Do y'all think they could be army fodder, or unique individuals? Because a whole army of archers, four-armed swordsmen, tanks, and giant scorpions led by the Skull Grinder sounds incredible.
  2. Oh man, we're already starting proper canister-sized villains-- Classic Bionicle didn't get those until the Rahkshi in 2003, and even then they were all clones. I'm very excited, they sound really quite menacing and terrifying. I'm excited for the dark colors and sparse but varied splashes of the main colors, and what sounds like a titan/bundle set? I dunno what to make of the torn cloth description, but it sounds really neat. Dying to find out what they look like! Is this the whole second wave lineup, or can we expect new small sets or proper titan sets on the horizon?
  3. I'm not sure this is the right kind of nostalgia
  4. Prowl Nightwolf: That's Gali's new mask. Is it just me, or does all the gold look lighter than what comes with the sets? Is it just the photograph? That's an absolutely lovely display, that's a great Makuta and I love the shoulder thingies for Taka.
  5. How did we go from this to this? They called it a Skyblaster but we all know what it really is, it even shoots to-scale cannonballs. We're onto you, Greg. #GoneTooFar #EndUnnecessaryBionicleCannonization

    Dear Bonkle Fandom:

Yeah, mirroring elements from the original does not in imply that they're like the same elements but far in the future or something. It seems a bit ridicusilly.

    Two questions

A balance between the two sounds good. G1 had the Mata/Nuva for three years straight, the Metru had two years plus 3 years as Turaga before that, and the Inika/Mahri had two years plus 3 years as Matoran, and then the Mata/Nuva came back for another full year. The Glatorian were the first "hero" characters that showed up without having been there in some form since 2001, and only had one year to develop. I think G1 actually has that balance, or almost attained it as adding on an extra year for the two other Toa teams to give em an even three years would've prolly been perfect. The thing about sticking to one group of characters, as a constraction theme, is that they're gonna have to keep changing appearance and stuff and that could get really tedious and the story could get a little stale after the unique dynamics run out and dusty tropes are brought in. On the other hand, a core group of characters makes you fall in love with them, and it seems like there's a paradox there because I desperately want to stick with the Toa Mata/Okoto for the full G2 run but at the same time, I don't want to see them get ruined or boring or whatever. If the G2 run turns out to only last the three planned years, that would be bittersweet but be the perfect situation for the characters, I think. You win some, you lose some.
  8. We've got a whole new story officially started, and the focus is on promotional products from over a decade ago. Can't we let it go? The unofficial consensus for the last 12 years has been that it is powerless, why that needs to be changed now is beyond me. Greg has better things to do. The original 42 powers were all assigned by Greg back in the day, we can assume the ToK was left unassigned for good reason.

    Meet my amiibo

I really wanna get Megaman, name him Jump'n'Shoot Man if I can fit it.
  10. There is so much wrong with the Oscars that I wasn't even surprised. The lack of a nomination is meaningless at this point.
  11. There isn't enough information at this point to conclusively say whether or not Mata Nui is or is not going to reappear in Gen 2 in any way. There are no hints at a great deity yet, nor does the presence of Ekimu negate the possibility of Mata Nui existing. We'll have to wait and see. So much of Gen 1 has been left behind that "well, Makuta and the Golden Masks are back" isn't a strong argument for speculating that anything is gonna show up in Gen 2 for sure.
  12. You're gonna have to glue the masks on too, 'cause even without the eyestalks I can't move the heads without slipping the masks right off and I bet nobody else can either Has anyone tried slightly bending their mask clips inward to keep them on sturdier? I don't know if that's better or worse than superglue
  13. Toa Mata feet have a lot of applications and connection points, I've seen them used for a wide variety of things and they look really good wherever they are.
  14. I'm just very iffy about Onya's build and color scheme, and I'm really disappointed with Pohatu's as well. I'm pretty neutral about all the Protectors, so.
  15. Congratulations to Roa I really enjoyed that interview, very thorough
  16. I voted Tahu, Gali, and Jungle. They just have the best colors and designs and overall appearance of those in their category.
  17. You've spent the last couple of pages rather emphatically declaring otherwise. Oh please. Do me a favor and learn to read because never once in any of my posts have I said that this 2015 reboot wasnot mine. Yes, you have; you've been insisting that the characters are being done wrong and that you're ready to be done with it entirely if the next animation isn't to your liking. It sounds like you're complaining that the reboot isn't living up to your expectations and is too different to what you think you know about what it's "supposed to" be. If the 2015 reboot was "your Bionicle", in that it's the one you know and love, you wouldn't be making those kinds of complaints when it's just started.
  18. At least this one's on-topic I can promise you that you'll get to see that in the future. Character development is a thing, and you yourself said you already saw it in the advertisements. Patience is a virtue. I CAN be patient. If they had an actual release schedule for these things. Patience doesn't usually come with conditions They're churning them out pretty quickly, it's not that long a wait.

  20. Any old fool can own a weapon. That doesn't necessarily mean they can use it, especially without practice. Then it's a good thing Tahu is a mighty warrior of fire and determination! Oh wait. He's a wimp who can't shake down a few spiders. My bad. You keep drastically understating the volume of spiders here, to the extent that I'm wondering if you even watched the episode. I'm gonna have to second that; it was a very fast moving swarm, and it didn't show signs of stopping. The whole reason they went there was to retrieve the Golden Mask, and fighting an ambiguously endless horde isn't going to help anyone, and would be a waste of time.
  21. It's unreasonable to claim you understand a character better than his writers in a new story that has barely begun. I'm sorry to break your heart, but it looks like Tahu isn't some incredible warrior that never backs down from a fight anymore/yet. Do you not at least remember that back when it all began, Tahu was on a quest for a mask and was confronted by an enormous swarm of insects and decided that the best way to overcome that obstacle was to literally shake them off and get away from them? The fine details are different but it sounds like it's treading the same path to me.
  22. It turns out that plastic construction toys for children are very serious business indeed

  23. 7 and 14 year olds (for the most part anyway) are smart enough to know that when they see Tahu kicking butt in one video and then running away in another that something has been lost in translation. If they wanted to portray Tahu as vulnerable they shouldn't have made him look all cool in an advertisement they show and turn around to make him wimpy in their 'story' videos. Which, if you think about it, is all one big ad. So that ad/story segregation theory goes out the window. 7-14 year olds are smart enough to know that when a story has just begun and the characters aren't acting the way they do in teasers, they'll have to wait and see how they change. The whole point of an episodic format is to tell a story in small doses and take as long as necessary to naturally let the plot and characters advance. There's also the very basic fact that the commercials are not the primary means of storytelling and shouldn't not be taken at face value. They establish a premise and advertise the product, but there are infinite liberties than can be taken with the presentation. You'll just have to wait and see how things progress and find out what is and isn't "official" like everyone else. Whatever your expectations were, I'd say it's time to lower them to a more reasonable standard.
  24. It's almost like we're only two weeks into the official release and these animations are only a minute and a half long and have only just begun to come out. They're meant to be watched together and work as a standalone series; a year from now new kiddies can sit down and watch everything unfold without having "already seen it several times" in commercials and promos that no longer air. Be patient and try to avoid feeling entitled to a certain level of quality or haste from a toyline aimed at the 7-14 demographic that is, for all intents and purposes, brand new and just starting to develop-- especially since these animations and commercials are planned, created, and released by folks whose job it is to know what they're doing. It comes across as incredibly obnoxious to start threatening abandonment of the reboot and calling others' attempts to explain themselves stupid and generally get so worked up over this. Have faith, and remember that there are several different mediums through which the story and promotional content is spread and that none of it is aimed directly at adults or with the intention of telling the whole story while the starting gun is still smoking.
  25. I feel like the "storm" isn't gonna hit until the second wave of sets/marketing, once Bionicle settles in and gets recognized as something that exists. It takes time for new lines to spread around to all potential customers around the globe and for 'em to accumulate enough content to sufficiently hook and entertain newcomers.
