  1. Hurry! Only you can save them!
  2. Greetings and welcome humanoids, bipeds, quadrupeds, reptilians overlords, gas-based psychomagic lifeforms, and all other intelligent and pseudointelligent life in all relevant dimensions! The LEGO Alien HuntersTM need your help! As you know, this wildly successful line from the LEGO company features the adventures of a team of warriors with only one mission: defeating the alien menace! The team is a group of highly trained space fighters with specialized weapons and skills. Unfortunately defeating the alien menace isn't so easy without a little backup, and that's where you come in! The Alien HuntersTM need vehicles. They need a home base. They need weapons. And you're going to give them to them. Your mission, should you choose to accept it, is this: Design a set that could realistically be released by LEGO for the Alien HuntersTM line. This could include vehicles, playsets, weapons, or whatever you can come up with. Maybe they need a dropship to land them in enemy territory? An all-terrain vehicle to traverse the alien worlds they travel to? A cannon to blast those ugly bug eyed meanies to kingdom come? Or just a simple hover bike to hop over to their favorite interplanetary lounge after a hard day's alien killfest? You tell me. The winning designs will be picked by a team of judges Me, Darth Vader, and Tufi Piyufi. The top three will each win a Galaxy Squad set and a cameo in the comic BZPStuck. In addition, the winning designs will be used in an upcoming project. Thematic considerations: Although you're welcome to include conflict in your designs, designing elements or vehicles for the alien menace will be considered TREASON and won't be considered in the judging process. (It's not going to disqualify you though don't worry, we just won't consider the alien components). Custom elements or decals are in fact, accepted. They are not required. This is just to allow you to really create the sense of a new theme line. Minifigs are not required. There are no piece limits or build restrictions, but the intention is to create something that could reasonably be released as a set. This covers a pretty wide gamut everything from the small bag sets to the gargantuan 100 dollar builds you'd see in any other lego line ------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------ Entries begin being accepted as soon as this topic is posted, and will stop being accepted on Saturday, December 28th at 11:59 P.M. EST. You are more than welcome to enter MULTIPLE ENTRIES, (up to three) but you can only win ONE PRIZE. To enter, simply post a link to your .jpg or .gif entry picture in this topic. Your entry post in this thread should appear as follows: Entry Name: Entry Pic URL: Topic URL (if applicable): ------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------ A running tally of entrants will be updated daily IN A SEPARATE PINNED TOPIC, which will be posted shortly after the first entries are received. ------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------ Judging Process: Judging begins December 29th and ends January 5th Entries will be judged on: Technical Ability (How well is it built?) Aesthetic Quality (How good does it look?) Thematic Cohesiveness (How well does it fit the theme?)* Each judge will determine a score out of 10 for these criteria and average them for an overall score. They will then average their individual picks to find an overall winner. *This just means it's a spaceship. If it would fit in any given Lego space line, it'll fit here. If it's a covered wagon with a horse pulling it or a firetruck, it won't. It's kind of a gimme category. ------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------ Rules: 1) Your entry may not have been published prior to the start of this contest. You may make your own topic before posting in the official entry thread, but you must create a post in the entry topic before it is closed in order to be officially entered. If, after posting your entry anywhere on BZP but before officially entering it (including the blogs), you modify it and then enter it, you will be disqualified. You may only start one topic for your entry. Please post only one main pic in this entry thread and a link to the rest of the pics in the gallery on your image host (most likely Brickshelf, Photobucket, or Flickr). You can do pictures as normal in your own separate thread. If you need help posting pictures, please see this topic. 2) Don't PM the contest host unless you have to. Ask questions in this topic and the host or an assistant will answer it. 3) Painted parts are ALLOWED. No non-LEGO parts. All other LEGO parts are fair game. Pictures in which the appearance of the MOC has been edited in Photoshop or other editing software are also prohibited. If either method is used, the MOC will be disqualified. The background may be edited, as long as it does not alter the appearance of the MOC. 4) Maximum three entries per member. You cannot switch or modify models mid contest. Once you have entered, you may not "un-enter" your models and enter new or modified ones in their stead. You may opt to bow out of the contest for whatever reason but you cannot reenter under such a situation. If you get disqualified for any reason, you will not be allowed to reenter with another MOC in that contest. 5) Any flaming will result in disqualification from the contest. Competition is good if you keep it clean. Everyone play fair, NO WHINING, no insults. I reserve the right to DQ any entry at any time for any reason. 6) Absolutely, positively NO CHEATING! Anyone found to be cheating or even suspected of cheating will face immediate disqualification from this contest and will be banned from participating in future contests. They will likely also be banned from the site. Mods know this information, so you're not fooling anyone but yourself by thinking you can get away with it. We run a check on people with multiple accounts too, which is an offense that results in banning from BZP entirely, aside from the contest... DON'T EVEN THINK ABOUT IT. 7) No "this is unfair" posting. Some people have more parts, money, time, gigs left on your hard drive, etc than others. That's life; we each have to do our best with what we have. Any excessive complaining may, at the judgment of the contest runner, disqualify you! 8) Discussion is encouraged. Feel free to ask questions about models you see or about the contest in general. 9) The contest is open to all BZP members, and voting is open to all BZP members to participate in even if they did not enter an MOC. "Advertising" your MOC is fine by making a signature or avatar reminding people to vote for you, but mass-PMing is frowned upon and will just get you disqualified. Advertising your MOC in someone else's thread is also a major no-no. Spamming may result in proto loss or even post-count reductions, so don't do it. ------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------ Prizes: The winner will receive Galaxy Squad set Warp Stinger 70702. Second place will receive Galaxy Squad set Swarm Interceptor 70701. Third place will receive Galaxy Squad set Space Swarmer 70700. All three winner's entries will be making appearances in a future project, and if the creators wish they also have an open minor guest spot in the comic BZPStuck. These sets might take a little while to get to you, fair warning. I am buying them myself and donating them for this contest. So what are you waiting for?? Get building guys! Can't wait to see what you come up with. ------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------
  3. DV made a great suggestion which I still stand behind today - BZPower should become the home of all "storyline" Lego - currently there's no real home for people to discuss the stories of Lego themes like Ninjago, Chima, and so on. We could be that home. Constraction's too narrow of a focus.

    Platonish

It's because for all that time between those seasons, Druthers had a beard, a bald head, and was busy selling illicit drugs. ;D And it was glorious
  5. WUTUP DORK HERE'S THE BIRTHDAY TRAIN BUSTIN DOWN YO DOOR WOOO WOOOOOO
  6. Hoo boy. So obviously we lost a lot of content - which happens, we still have the off site versions in tact, so my question to you guys is:Would you be upset if we just linked to the mirror in the comic topic for the missed pages then resumed with the latest updates or would you prefer we try to rebuild the entire thing? Obviously I'd prefer the first option but if there's someone who relies on the forum version for some reason I can accommodate. Let me know what you think.
  7. I actually just did a reread and it flows quite nicely when you take it all in at once. That said, the slow pace has certainly hurt our work at this moment and I do apologize. Maybe is CRAZY RAY LA-LA LAND where everything is OPPOSITE 9______9 Yeah, the character jumps are fine, but the time jumps are really hurting things. Definitely a major detriment to the narrative, and to keeping attention and interest. Can we put a full-stop on the confusing time jumps? They are pretty unavoidable when half the players hadn't even started a year into the story. We had to go back and explain what they were doing during the earlier shenanigans.
  8. I wish I had read more of Dark's comics so I knew all the backstory...but needless to say, I am enjoying the comic even without the extra info. Nicely done.

  10. At long last we are back! My apologies again for the rather extended break this time - There's a litany of factors, none of them important and all pretty much mitigated at this point. Anyway, let's do dis thang[brian]: Ogle horrifying deathmachine[brian]: Recall your dream[brian]: Get the heck outta there!
  11. My vote shall remain anonymous, but I assure you it was done with an intense villainous laughter.
  12. Just caught up and I gotta say this stuff is getting much better as it goes on.Thought you know what would be cool.Nametags that show what team you're on.If only someone was cool enough to make them.
  13. Why not just let them use the blogs until buttlop fixes it? Haha, seems like it's less of a pain then being ridiculously hardcore about it.

    The Policy

Yeah you're right we should probably just let the site rot and never make changes again.
  15. Not a bad kit, but I have two thoughts:First, why on Earth do you need seventy thousand values for every hue? More than four is just overkill for something this tiny unless you're actively aliasing it which defeats the purpose of pixel art anyway.Second, that MoLtoran head is really too far forward - It might be set accurate, but the set looks goofy and it'll work better in a more natural position above the shoulders.

    yeahhhh

BS I am my usual chipper self
  17. Because Rayg has a deep and terrible need. You see This beautiful creature? That's Mezco's iconic, and EXCLUSIVE Walter White action figure with Los Pollos Hermanos slip cover and accessories from the much talked about episode of Breaking Bad "The Fly". And you better believe I need that figure like I need to breathe. That said, I'd really rather not pay the eighty dollars it's going for on Ebay right now. If one you cool kids is going and would be willing to pick this sucker up for me, I'd be more than willing to compensate and throw in a little extra for your trouble. What do ya say. Do it for your pal Rayg? Trust me, you and I will make a lot fo money together...and I assure you, I am very discrete.
  18. Sorry about the delay folks - the weekend of the fourth is always hugely busy for my business, and bzpstuck has taken a backseat. That said, next week and beyond we have the bzpower anniversary and I'm trying to get something really cool together for it. Stay tuned!Oh also[Pat]: Solve mystery of MYSTERIOUS CART[Pat]: Find clearest possible solution to Cart origin[Pat]: Actually be in limbo the whole time.[brian]: Be past brian[brian]: Be even paster brian[brain]: IT LOOKS LIKE YOU'RE TRYING TO SUBMIT A COMMAND. PERHAPS I CAN ASSIST YOU??
  19. The last time I was at IHOP, we ordered two rib sandwiches and a plate of salad. When they came back they said they were out of ribs. Then they said they didn't have any of the ingredients for a salad except two.. Then they brought out a plate of lettuce with a whole, uncut tomato on it. We reordered chicken, and they brought out a live chicken. We had to kill and cook it ourselves. Truly a terrible experience, would not recommend.
  20. Dang, that's an impressive little piece of work! Pepakura's always a pain, congrats on getting it completely finished.
  21. [Canada]: Be the best country! Anyway, there will be plenty more celebratory shenanigans this week kids, stay tuned!
