  1. I see where you're coming from regarding the Inika feet. I was trying to make the entire area of his shoulders and upper back reminiscent of the shape of the mask, with a lot of angled spikes. I like how it looks at the shoulders, but I do think it could be cleaner toward the elbows. I'll see if I can think of something that captures the look I'm going for at the shoulders, but allows for tightening of the armor moving down the arm. Thanks for your kind words and your feedback!
  2. I recently decided to give my old "G2 Toa of Time" MOC a bit of a makeover - thought I'd post a new topic for the result. This was my entry for the MOC category in BZPower's The Legend Continues contest from a couple years ago, titled "Bingzak, Toa of Time" (it managed to secure third place in the first round - one place to low to advance, but still, it's something ). I was going for what a G2 Toa of Time would look like, with the idea being that Bingzak would, similarly to Takua in G1, acquire a legendary mask and be transformed into a 7th Toa. The top half of the Mask of Time is from Shapeways. I usually avoid using 3D-printed pieces, but this was sort of a special case - since the theme of the contest was "stuff you wanted to see happen if G2 continued," I really wanted to do something with the Mask of Time halves. Gallery You can see the original version of this MOC (as entered in the contest) here. I'm pretty pleased with how the updates came out (particularly in regards to his "shield"), but any feedback is welcome!
  3. Hey everybody, I've decided that, with Biological Chronicle in a near-final state, it's time for me to move on to something new - something that I really care about. I'm proud to announce that I'm now working on Neo Shiftpendium, a complete collection of all Neo Shifters story material! You can download it right here. EDIT: April Fool's
  4. It's from the Bionicle World guidebook.
  5. Thank you! Unfortunately, as of this past weekend, this MOC is back with Black Six, traveling the convention circuit - so I can't take any interior photos of the torso build right now. The main structure of the body is two of these, with the neck connected to one ball joint, and the waist connected at the other. The rest is mostly just filling out gaps and shaping the torso using small Technic bits. I know it's a ways off, but at BrickFair VA in August I can try to take some photos showing off the body construction. That's the soonest that I'll have it in-hand again.
  6. Addressing your second question: If memory serves, the Toa Mangai were each sent out on missions that were actually traps where they were killed by Eliminator.
  7. Apologies for my absence, everyone - I was an exhibitor at 2 different Lego conventions this month, so I've been a bit busy Okay, I've actually looked into this now, and I remember now exactly why I placed them where I did: the text for "Le-Koro Liberated!" ends with Matau saying "As we rebuild, our thoughts must turn to the Toa and the great challenge that they face beneath Mata Nui." He's clearly referring to the Toa traveling down into the Bohrok nest - but it isn't until the chapter currently placed before this that the Toa decide to go there. Heck, none of the Toa besides Tahu and Kopaka even know that the nest exists until that chapter. I could potentially move "Last Moment Save!" a chapter later to help account for the long passage of time, but I don't really like the idea of putting that much of a break between the end of the chapter where the Toa defeat the Bahrag, and the beginning of the one where they fall into the Protodermis. I'm open to suggestions, but I think this might just have to be a bit of time dilation. Thanks for the feedback! I don't think either of those things needs to be changed, though. From Dictionary dot com: "gape (verb): 2. to open the mouth wide involuntarily, as the result of hunger, sleepiness, or absorbed attention." "past (adjective): gone by or elapsed in time: It was a bad time, but it's all past now" Really sorry for taking so long to answer your question! I took the ones from BS01 as a base, but re-listened to the podcasts and fixed any errors myself. I also used the transcription of the final chapter of Dark Mirror that was printed in Makuta's Guide to the Universe, since it's presumably the original text that Greg read from.
  8. Ignition #6 was indeed online-only. This page should have all the info you need: https://biosector01.com/wiki/Comics
  9. I don't - other members of BioniLUG built the other 5 (each one was built by a different person). Here's a picture of the whole team on display at a recent convention. EDIT: Link fixed
  10. "I believe I've done what I had to do. I've taken the first step toward the future. No one ever said the trip would be an easy one." Gallery Built as part of a BioniLUG collaboration - a different person made a MOC of each of the Toa Nuva. As soon as the idea was brought up, I knew I wanted to be the one to make Onua, since he's my favorite of the Mata/Nuva. I actually built this guy a while ago - if you've seen BZPower at a convention in the past year, you may have seen this guy hanging out with the rest of his team - but I only just got the chance to take some good photos, as he's been in Black Six's care since shortly after I built him up until very recently. He'll be returning to the convention circuit very soon.
  11. Are we allowed to use custom printed tiles (specifically the ones BrickFair provides to exhibitors, since they're common on badges)?
  12. 1) The original comics were pretty much only distributed in Lego Club Magazine (or its predecessor, Lego Mania Magazine), but a local toy store in my neighborhood would sometimes have a stack of the latest issue (you could take one for free). Most of the original comic series was later republished in collected editions by Papercutz, which were available for purchase at most major bookstores. 2) No. DC published the comics, but Lego still owns the full rights to the characters and concepts in Bionicle. Bionicle is not a DC property. That bit in the Green Lantern comic was just a small easter egg/reference snuck in by the artist; I wouldn't read anything into it.
  13. At least for MNOG, the version on Templar's own website would be fitting. For other games, I suppose the Biomedia project would be the best place to link to. Ha, I meant where in the compilation - but I guess it's more the "how" than the "where." I'm not sure how to quickly and cleanly convey to a new reader "this link will send you to a game that you should play a precise amount of before returning here to continue reading the next chapter." With text and short videos, it's easy enough to put a bracket next to the corresponding text, and trim the videos down where needed. I would love to, but unfortunately that's how BZP formats sub-bullets (unless there's something I'm doing wrong). There is no blank line between those, they're just placed really far apart. Do you think it'd be better if they just weren't sub-bullets?
  14. This is a good point, thanks! I will look into fixing this ASAP. Ooh, linking to the serial podcasts is something I hadn't thought of... I did consider game links, but I'm not really sure where they would go. I mainly want links to things that correspond directly to chunks of text. Seconded. If I might offer a suggestion, maybe the "Standard/Recommended" edition of the complete collection should be at the very top of the list of links, with, "If you're totally new, start here," written underneath it. You were both very correct about how messy the first post had gotten, so I've done my best to clean it up. Would really appreciate your feedback!
  15. BIG UPDATE TIME So, this is something I've been planning for a long time now. It's taken this long because A) it's just been a decent bit of work, and B) I wanted to hold off on it until more proofreading had been done on the compilation as-is. Anyway, without further ado: the multimedia update! Biological Chronicle Books 1, 2, 5, and 8 now include QR codes - which are also clickable (or tappable on mobile) links - in places where there is a piece of video media that covers the same story as a given passage of text. These links will send you to the video for that scene on Youtube - and these videos have had all typos edited out, and are trimmed down so they fit to canon (the same as the compilation text). This way, readers can read the text version, or watch the video version of scenes that have one. Huge thanks to Peri for sending me the necessary files to run/record the '01 and '02 Flash animations at their original framerate! These QR codes have brackets next to them that indicate the text that they correspond to. If there is not a bracket next to a QR code, then its video corresponds to everything up through the end of the chapter (which usually just means the whole page it's on). Since I'm not sure if everyone will like these, I have made separate versions of Books 1, 2, 5, 8, and the complete collection which don't include these links (on a related note, I've also changed the version lists in the first post to bulleted lists, in an effort to make them more readable). Some other small updates that I've just posted:Fixed a few ellipses in Book 1 and Book 10 that had an extra space in front of themRemoved the single-pixel-wide borders (some remnant of the digital conversion process I used) on the left and right of the comic page at the beginning of chapter 13 in Book 1I fixed the alignment of this comic page as well - its top edge was slightly below the top of the pageAdded missing "End Chapter" to the end of the last of the '05 comics in one version of Book 5 (apologies, I don't remember which version was missing it - but they should all have it now)That's it for now! I hope people like having this new option to view the original video format of some parts of the story. I have no memory of making such a change, but it's certainly likely that it was my fault, considering that the book type-ups came from me. Perhaps I was somehow bothered by the sword being in two pieces? I really have no idea at this point... I think I figured it out: if memory serves, I didn't actually use your transcription for the beginning of Tale of the Toa - I used one that I found online elsewhere. Whoever transcribed that one must have made that change. Really sorry for blaming you for it! I'd totally forgotten that I had used a different source for that bit of transcription.
  16. That’s what I thought, too, but...http://www.bzpower.com/board/blog/59/entry-83461-farshtey-feed-p284-296/ Pretty sure Tahu didn’t fry all the Kraata, though, just the ones involved in the Bara Magna assault. That quote says "With no Makuta to control them," not Kraata. Seems like Greg's referring to the surviving Rahkshi that still have Kraata. And yes, only those involved in the attack were fried.
  17. Oof. So, this looks cool! I think having this stuff accessible on the web more easily is great. I'm curious about one thing, mainly: you say you want everything "compiled into a single interwoven narrative" (very much the goal I have with Biological Chronicle). The main obstacle to this, as I've learned (the hard way) is that much of Bionicle's story is contradictory or redundant. So is your plan to do what I've done, and edit out inconsistencies, weave different story materials together, etc? Or are you trying more to archive the story materials as they originally were - putting things in a good reading order, but leaving them unedited? Depending on which of these is your goal, we should probably PM about potentially collaborating. Either way, though, I'm interested to see where this goes.
  18. So we can put literally anything - Lego or otherwise - on our badge? Seems a bit unorthodox. Is there a (rough) ratio of Lego to non-Lego that would disqualify an entry (similar to the usual 85/15 constraction-to-System ratio for BBC contests)? I changed the rule this time around on account of you're going to have things like magnets and such to make it a wearable badge. I'd say any non-essential use of non-Lego components is going to attract scrutiny. Gotcha, that makes sense.
  19. Hmm, I just built up my badge in preparation for the March conventions. I don't think it's impressive enough to win anything, but I don't really want to make any major modifications to it since I'm pretty pleased with it currently - I suppose I'll just enter it as-is, maybe with some slight tweaking. Just one question: So we can put literally anything - Lego or otherwise - on our badge? Seems a bit unorthodox. Is there a (rough) ratio of Lego to non-Lego that would disqualify an entry (similar to the usual 85/15 constraction-to-System ratio for BBC contests)?
  20. 1. All of them (besides Matoro) were resurrected on the Red Star, but its teleportation device broke down, so they did not make it back to the MU or Spherus Magna. 2. Tahu was reverted to his Toa Mata form, so he no longer has his enhanced Nuva powers, but he now possesses a bunch of Rahkshi powers. The rest are still Nuva, and still possess their Adaptive Armor. 3. Yes 4. No 5. Wasn't specified. I'd imagine it's being kept in some kind of Suva-like shrine/temple, but that's just a guess. 6. Uh... I don't think this was ever specified. Most of the Rahkshi, at least, were either fried by the golden armor or left to die in the MU. 7. Yes 8. Unspecified, but I doubt it. Last we know of, he was trying to gain the favor of some Glatorian. 9. Nope 10. Of a sort? Axonn believes that Brutaka is back on the side of the righteous, but I don't know if they're close enough to be considered friends again yet. Hope that helps!
  21. It comes from the Bionicle Style Guide (as do some other scenes in that section), and the idea was that those scenes could slot in well there, since it's a sort of montage of scenes of the Toa finding the rest of the masks. There was some debate a while back as to whether that specific scene was too confusing to the reader - if memory serves, the final decision was to keep it because it is referenced in '08. I can definitely see the cause for your confusion at the end of the scene, though: the scene break ended up lined up with a page break, making it unclear that there's been a scene transition. I will definitely add a hard break (the three asterisks, * * *) after the page break for clarity. Do you think this is enough to make it readable? If not, there is the possibility of removing it from the "Standard" versions and only having in the "Complete" ones. If anyone would like to share their opinions on this, I'd appreciate it. Should be "fling it against the wall" as the Manas is the one being flung and is always referred to as "it". Makes sense, I'll fix that. Should be "I say to Puku." or, "I say to the crab." as Takua is clearly addressing Puku and not just speaking to himself. I'm inclined to leave this as-is (though if others disagree, please speak up!). The intent of the phrasing is to suggest that what Takua is saying to Puku doesn't really matter - he's just saying it anyway (like when people talk to their pets, even though they know their pets don't understand). Hence he's really just saying it to himself, not to Puku. The only issue with this is that, as we see later (in '03), Puku does seem to understand most, if not all, of what Takua says - but I think it's easy to just assume that in '01, Takua didn't know how well Ussals can understand Matoran language (or perhaps that Puku hadn't learned to understand him that well yet). Should be "but notices that Matau is trapped inside it" or "but notices Matau trapped inside it" That makes sense, I'll fix it. I'd probably want to see it before making a firm decision either way, but I'm inclined to say I wouldn't include it. It's not the work as it was meant to be seen. If I did include it, it would probably be in a separate version of Book 1. EDIT 2/14/19: Made some fixes to Book 1 based on feedback from Chip and the folks at the Beaverhouse. Details: Fixed a passage that had been changed in the first chapter of Book 1 (right after "Near it he saw several components lying in the sand"): in the original text, Tahu finds his sword in two pieces, but the compilation text had been modified to say it was just one piece (Toatapio, did you do this? I don't remember making this change). The passage now reads: "Two turned out to be blades, shaped into the form of leaping red flames. They fitted together into a sword, the handle sitting comfortably in his clawed hand."Added a hard break (* * *) after the passage ending with "I think... that 'Charge!' is not a plan" to improve readability (as discussed above). If people think I should do more changes here, let me know!Changed "him" to "it" in the line "Using all of his strength, Wairuha managed to rip the Manas free and fling him against the wall." Removed "that" from "Takua barely manages to avoid falling into the nest, but notices that Matau trapped inside it with the Kewa chicks." That's it for now. Should be some updates to Book 3 soon, though. EDIT 2/20/19: Those Book 3 updates I mentioned have now been added! Details: There is now a written version of the 2003 flash game "The Legend Continues" (made to promote the Mask of Light movie) included in the Complete version of Book 3"I emerged in Onu-Koro and made my way here. - added missing quote mark at end of sentence"the Manas saw the molten lava closing in on upon them" - removed extra "on""Another steep cliff side still lay between him and the top of the volcano!" - removed space in "cliffside""'J-Jaller?' he called, racing forward. 'JALLER! Oof -'" - dash following "oof" was getting pushed to new line, which looked weird. I moved the "oof" to the next line with it, which looks cleanerFixed a typo in one of the last comic pages (in issue 15, the "epilogue): Vakama says "And so, here was" instead of "And so, there was" - this is now fixedFOLLOW-UP 2/20/19 EDIT: Just made one more Book 3 fix! There were a few places in MNOGII where "Koro" was capitalized, even though it wasn't being used as part of a village's name. I've changed those 3 instances to lower-case.
  22. It's not actually canon in G1, but it was a notable element of Bionicle G2 (the 2015 reboot). In G2, Ekimu possessed a Mask of Time that only covered the top half of the user's face - the opposite of the original Vahi, which covers the lower half of the face. Some tidbits from guidebooks and other story sources indicated that the G2 Mask of Time was actually missing its lower half (which would presumably be some form of the G1 Vahi). Unfortunately, this plot thread never reached a resolution - possibly due to G2's cancellation.
  23. Welcome to BZPower! BrickLink is probably the best place to look. You could also try the Buy/Sale/Trade forum here on BZP, but I haven't been on it in a while so I'm not sure how active it is these days.
  24. Since I finally started a Flickr last year, I decided to sign up for Pro while they're doing the discount (especially since I'm already over 1/3 of the new free storage limit). It should be clarified, though, that this is not a temporary 41% discount - it's a temporary 15% discount off of the annual rate (which is always cheaper than the monthly rate, at $50/year instead of $6/month).
