Epilogue: School Bulletin Board

Sounds like fun Tyler, Skype me(I'm running low on room in my inbox) once you get their names worked out so I can bracket/partner them for the tournament. Arnie will enjoy torturing students with his partnering decisions.

 

Now is it just me, or is there a distinct lack of Mermen in this RPG?

 

Time to rectify that, this'll probably be my last profile for a while.

 

Name: Vinnie Col

 

Gender: Female

Specialization: Mermen – Kelpie

 

Appearance: The first thing most people notice about Vinnie is her hair. It is the color of white sea foam, billows in the wind like a horse mane, falls down to the middle of her back. This is merely the first sign of Vinnie’s true nature as Noble, a Kelpie to be precise, water horses from Celtic Folklore. Her eyes also reflect this fact being a turquoise the shade of the sea. She has light tone of skin, and stands rather unremarkably at 5’ 4’’. Her face gives off rather perky features, the face of someone with constant energy, and she possesses a rather mischievous smile that alerts people when she’s up to no good, albeit generally too late.

 

In terms of clothing, besides removing the tie, it doesn’t appear as though Vinnie has modified the school uniform. The only odd thing is that she neglects to wear the jacket, instead carrying it in one hand slung over her shoulder; only bothering to throw it on when in combat. This actually stems from the fact that she has chosen to utilize parts of her uniform, and specifically her jacket to carry her needles and darts. She also has straps in which she carries them around many parts of her body, choosing to switch them to the outside when in a combat situation. The rest of the time said straps will remain concealed under her clothing.

 

In her horse form Vinnie is a beautiful steed, he hair becomes a billowing mane, still retaining its color of sea foam. Her hide is a deep shade of black, contrasting her white mane. In short her entire form exudes lithe strength and elegance. It is the definition of a noble steed, and appears to be crafted out of the crests of sea waves themselves.

 

Personality: Vinnie is a troublemaking trickster. She’s always playing pranks and cracking jokes while simultaneously making sure to stay up to date on all events going on within the Academy. For the most part she is extremely easy going, not caring much for doing actual work beyond stuff that increases her own skill level. Very rarely can Vinnie be seen staying still, as she would much rather prefer being up and about doing something.

 

Vinnie is always urging on other people, trying to rope them into her schemes for her own amusement. Despite this, she is still deeply sympathetic to people, and can easily find herself roped into others problems, a side of her yet to be seen in the Academy. In addition despite all evidence to the contrary, Vinnie has proved time and time again to be quite clever and competent. Many people, including her teachers often feel as though she is wasting her potential because of all the time she spends on playing pranks.

 

Biography: Vinnie’s family grew up rather integrated for a Noble family, instead of sequestering themselves away from Humanity; Vinnie’s family just lived a fairly normal life. Well normal by all appearances, but in reality they were actually deeply involved with the Hunter and Exorcist activities around the area. Vinnie’s family acted as suppliers, by shifting into Horse form they could quickly travel, with not even water stopping their route, so they would carry in supplies to help the others. It was an odd profession for a Kelpie family, but it suited their purposes just fine.

 

That was on the occult side at least; on the surface Vinnie’s family was just an ordinary group of business representatives, traveling to and from many locations in order to represent a shipping business. While much of it was a cover, there was still a load of truth involved as that business aspect still existed, allowing supplies to be shipped to areas across the world.

 

Regardless Vinnie’s parents would often take her along, instilling in her a love for travel and meeting new people. She also picked up quite a few traits involving smuggling goods as well. Something she’s put to good use in the school, having control over the entire contraband market in the school. It still unknown what contacts she made to get the goods, or how she slips them past Arnie. There is some suspicion that Arnie is supporting her business, some even say that she’s worked out a deal with Arnie, either via Blackmail or just cause it was Arnie.

 

Regardless we’re getting ahead of the story of her life. Once schooling starting getting more intense, Vinnie’s parents felt it was more important for her to stay in school and no longer took her with them on their trips. At first Vinnie was at a loss for what to do, but it wasn’t long before she became quite independent, and easily adapted to living on her own. It was while on her own that she also discovered a love for playing pranks on people.

 

It wasn’t long before her parents decided it was time for her to enroll into Venator Academy. Sending here there when she was 15, the first year went by without much incident. All though rumors did abound she was a bit of trickster. Well by without incident, that’s not accounting for sudden flooding of six classrooms at the end of the year. Still no one managed to pin the incident on her.

 

The second year was a whole other story, this time trickery and pranks seemed abundant within in the school. Due in part to Vinnie’s newly developing illusion abilities. When it came to trickery and deception Vinnie was at the very top of the class. It was also during her second year that Vinnie decided to set up a network of contacts in order to set up a contraband black market. While no one can pin it on her parse, it’s a widely accepted fact that she is probably the mastermind.

 

Schooling-wise, Vinnie spent her second year devoting herself to two main skills. Utilizing illusions for deception and trickery, and utilizing illusions for combat, in terms of other useful skills Vinnie couldn’t be bothered. Things like History and current events in the Supernatural world just fly right over her head, if it doesn’t involve her own amusement, she probably doesn’t care.

 

By the close of her second year, Vinnie became quite well known in the student body, the terror of the underclassman, and the supplier of the upperclassman. She’s used this newly acquired reputation to her advantage whenever it suits her, but it has led to her being a bit lacking in the friends department. Sure she has plenty of contacts, just no real friends.

 

Vinnie is starting her third year at Venator and already she’s sent three students to the hospital thanks to her pranks. However, that was never her goal, she was just bored and thought it would be funny if a freshman happened to wander into ladies room. The one thing people have learned about Vinnie over the years is that she will never intentionally hurt someone, everything else is fair game though.

 

Skills/Abilities: As a Kelpie Vinnie possesses the common traits of being able to breathe under water as well shift into a Water Horse. This Horse form is exceptionally fast compared to the average horse, and is also far more beautiful than a normal horse. The only other ability she is developing is a form of minor illusions. While she’s still unable to disguises anything living or moving, she is perfectly able to disguise small still objects, such as signs for instance. It does require a fair amount of focus, all though after disguising an object she no longer requires eye contact.

 

Vinnie is also one of the more informed members of Venator Academy, keeping up to date on all the going-ons, via her network of contacts, within the school. She also learned to throw small projectiles like darts and her needles with great precision. While not over the top levels of marksmanship she is easily able to hit things a few meters away from her with ease. She’s also a skilled hand to hand combatant, only bringing out her needles when she deems it necessary.

 

Weapons: Vinnie has chosen an odd weapon of choice, small needles and darts. She enjoys them especially because they’re small enough to easily hide or even disguise should she put in extreme amounts of focus. She’s learned how to throw them well, and will use that to distract them and allow her to get in close and stab them. While the needles themselves are rarely able to puncture deeply, she’s learned a fair amount of knowledge about human pressure points allowing her to numb, or if given enough time, even immobilize parts of the human body. She also packs wooden and silver variants of her needles to deal with certain nobles.

 

Weaknesses: In terms of attacks all of Vinnie’s techniques rely on getting in close and getting out fast. If one manages to stop this assault they can easily defeat her. In addition she’s only knowledgeable of human pressure points, leading to it being much harder for her to deal with certain types of nobles. Her Illusions are far from developed and her horse form isn’t the most useful when it comes to combat. She also lacks skill with any real weapon, ranging from modern firearms to swords.

 

Vinnie’s habit of playing pranks and tricking people has led to her being rather isolated from other people. She has no real friends within Venator Academy as she has driven most people away. Finally Vinnie is rarely able to apply herself to anything that doesn’t seem to offer instant gratification, as such is rarely well versed in many other areas of Supernatural Knowledge. These areas include, among other things, the history and the classification of different Demons and Creatures.

 

In terms of racial weaknesses, Kelpie's are far from powerful Nobles. Illusions, breathing underwater, and shifting into a horse tend to be the extent of their abilities. They are also far more comfortable within water as opposed to land, and do require exposure to it at least monthly or so. Vinnie compensates for this by visiting the lake in the Southern Grounds fairly frequently.

Name: Wallace "Wally" Hickory Jamenson

Gender: Male

Age: 15

Type: Noble

Specialization: Alpha Lycanthrope, 'Werehorse'.

Appearance: Wallace is a bright blue-eyed teenager, with mixed, short blonde/brown hair framing his tanned face. A cowboy hat, brown leather, almost always rests upon his head, directly contrasting with feathers stuck onto it and a tribal tattoo over his right cheek. He's powerfully built, strong but on the larger size, in height, weight, and waist size. His uniform is standard, with but strange spurred moccasins departing from the norm along with his hat.

His horse form is a beautiful chestnut, cream mane and tail adding to his appearance. His eyes remain the same bright blue, and along with sharp hooves he can look quite intimidating.

Personality: Wallace is bright, cheery, and all-around fun. He's a great storyteller, having not only stories from both sides of his family to draw upon but some of his own as well. He's willing to take a joke as long as he can give one in return, and is generally regarded as a 'life of the party' type, the one who can strike up conversation with anyone about anything. His Southwestern style of speaking and a gift with words makes him often become an unintentional charmer, an unwilling ladies' man.

Biography: Wallace himself hasn't had a very exciting life, at least in comparison to most other Nobles. He was born, grew up on a ranch and in the Native villages of the Southwest, learned who he was and how to control his powers, and at the age of 14 was sent to Venator to better home his skills.

What's interesting is his heritage, Wallace is the offspring of two long lines of Noble, Alpha Lycanthropes, both with horse forms. One lived among the Native Americans of the Southwest for years, traveling from tribe to tribe as was needed. The other came over with the colonists, always at the forefront of exploration and the fringes of civilization.

In simple terms, Explorers and Natives. And in the case of Wallace's mum and pop, Cowboys and Indians.

It's somewhat ironic, but that's just how it turned out. And as of now, the 'Jamenson Ranch n' Corral' is running strong, with George and Swift Breeze Jamenson happily married, working the ranch, visiting her family and sending monthly letters to their son overseas as he trains in the ways of an Alpha Noble.

Just another happy pioneer family, nothin' else to it.

Skills/Abilities: Running. In both forms, Wallace is good at running. Distance or short charges, to be specific. He's also great with a rope, his aim lasso'n tree branches is unrivaled, and wrestling is a daily habit. In terms of powers, he has excellent Resilience and strong Pack Mentality, with his Primal Howl being a bit lackluster. This is likely due to the horse not being an animal that naturally howls.

Weapons: Wallace almost always has a rope or two on him, and in his hands it's a dangerous weapon that can easily trip up unsuspecting people. Along with that, he's been shown to use a bow and a pistol before, but doesn't own a personal copy of either himself.

Weaknesses: Wallace, like the horse form he can take, is prone to charging headlong into things without turning. This applies to not only walls, but situations as well. Along with that, he has a horrible fear of breaking his leg, and even immobilizing it causes him to panic, although he's working on repressing that reflex. Lastly, when he gets into a bad mood, it's nearly impossible to get him out of it and thus everyone gets in a bad mood. Thankfully, it's just as hard if not moreso to get him out of a good mood than a bad one.

Fun fact: Wallace was originally going to be a gunslingin' cowboy Hunter, but then I thought of the irony of having him hunt his own kind. And then the Native American part popped in.. :P

So I make a horse character and everyone start copying me. =P

 

For the record, considering Wally is just a student, I'd say his pack mentality can only get a horse or two on his side. So yeah, Wally Approved.

 

Oh and Humva, our resident Native American, will probably be watching you carefully, so don't slip up. =P

 

Now I have a question I want to propose to you all, seeing as it seems only a handful of people have even found partners, would you all prefer I moved the deadline up Monday, or should I just bracket/partner you all off and start the games tomorrow?

Personally I would say just do it today. Judging how everybody just kinda listed their characters and so far I can't see anybody making moves to partner up.

 

However all the partnering might be happening over skype and PM. And since I already have a partner I might be slightly biased to start as soon as possible.

Type: Exorcist

Specialization: Smiter - contractor: Veles, Slavic Deity of Substance

Appearance: A young and quite burly man typically straddling a longhorn bull with reins in hand and pack at saddle. The bovine itself is an orange Texas Longhorn in breed which possesses a perpetually-lethargic expression. His rider is a built teenager clad in the school uniform with an additional strap over his shoulder. His complexion is olive and hair black, while his eyes are brown. His mustache always appears to have been shaved a day prior to the present and his beard is small and coarse. Attached to his back by his straps is a case for his pooper-scooper.

Personality: Absent-minded and rather inattentive, Ed is clueless at all times. This lack of knowledge gives him a corresponding penchant for being lost. He is not unintelligent, but he is not educated at the same level as many other westerners his age and doesn't give much heed to his ignorance. His external expressions are transparent and reveal the laziness behind the man. He perceives himself to be ordinary in many ways and is content for this reason, yet believes he'd like to be more ordinary so he could return to his contented life. He also has an extraordinary hatred for chupacabras.

Biography: As an immigrant Mexican farmhand born-and-raised in Texas, mild-mannered Eduardo Lopez reacted to his difficult work on a ranch by withdrawing and distracting himself from reality. He eventually responded to many of his life's challenges in much the same way. However, everything changed when the chupacabras attacked. The blood-sucking goblinoid Creatures assaulting his cattle, Lopez was fresh out of ideas at the moment Veles revealed himself to him. The cattle-guarding god's trickster tendencies gave him reason to provide Ed with a contract that was readily accepted. Routing the chupacabras with his newfound chants, Ed chased the Creatures across the Americas and into England armed with naught but his fists and his handy-dandy pooper-scooper atop the back of his favorite bull, the placid Ferdinand. Now searching for the cryptids on foreign soil, he has decided to attend the Academy in the hopes of learning surefire methods of defeating his Creature foes.

Skills/Abilities: As a Smiter contracted to a deity of many facets, Eduardo theoretically possesses a manifold power in his chants to deceive, cause disease, bring wealth, regenerate, converse with the dead, enact various magics, create music and more. However, the aforementioned powers are only capable of being accessed by him in theory. His lack of experience and limited specialization makes him ill-suited to all but the simplest of the Slavic god of substance's tricks. His chants may allow him the ability to manipulate the element of Earth, and, to a lesser degree, Water; additionally, he might draw endurance and strength from these elements. Another result of this contract is that he is empowered in close proximity to the ground and water and bovine forms of life.

 

He can also provide for cows. This skill allows him to ride, sustain, and medicinally heal bovines as well as to participate in other cattle-related activities.

Weapons: His own two fists. Arguably, his pooper scooper. Ferdinand does possess the capability to attack, but is only empowered by the natural physicality of a bull and doesn't discriminate between allies and enemies in combat. He might only fight if his peace is disturbed in the form of an attack on his person or "his" flowers.

Weaknesses: -No knowledge of essentially anything regarding the supernatural world but that he's embroiled in it

-Incapable of telling lies believable to even the most gullible of persons

-His contract has many limitations and shortcomings:

-His power diminishes proportionate to his distance to any of the following:

-Any cow he deems his, currently Ferdinand

-The ground and water

-Veles' ancient feud with Perun also limits Eduardo:

-As Perun is the Slavic deity of Lightning, he abhors electricity in all its forms and a shock will inflict greater damage on him than on other humans

-He is also weak to the attacks of those who have contracted with Perun or another, similar deity also possessing power over Lightning and the top seat in his or her pantheon

-As Eduardo uses his contract beneficially, it slowly shifts his body into that of a horned and serpentine humanoid not dissimilar to Veles' form in mythic conflict with Perun. This form is recognized as a sort of small Slavic dragon (or zmey) and is only reversed when he cuts application of his contract. Being that he has virtually no prior experience in a reptilian body and that his weakness to anti-draconic weaponry grows with this transformation, it is a glaring potential weakness for Ed

Well, with all of these characters out, I'll make the first moves. @ Advent, want to pair Adrian with Alexander? Slaying dragons is a lot easier when you have someone to show you the weak point (for massive damage!).

 

Along the same line, @ Constructman, mind putting Agnes up with Brennus? Again, working the opposites; pairing the hyper emotional with the non-emotional could make for some rather interesting characterization.

The handle also determines the length of chain released, mostly through the act of turning but also through a series of mechanisms on the inside. The mechanisms once the handle is disconnected lock and only unlock through the act of turning the handle itself. I assume you mean her real age. If so, then what is the oldest one can go yet still be considered a teenage vampire? Do you mean how strong is she? What can she do with her abilities?

 

I don't know how holy enchantment works, I was just asking.

 

The hilt was supposed to be sturdy and It doesn't vibrate without activation.

Sigh, a scythe just plain isn't a weapon, in visual medias and stuff it only works via Rule of Cool, that's not something applicable here. A scythe is a cumbersome tool which just doesn't work as a weapon, and you're trying to attach that to something which is already a questionable weapon at best. I'm sure you can find a plethora of sources online which point to the same fact, so I'm done trying to explain to you why it doesn't work.

 

For that matter, why are you pushing for such improbable weapons anyway. That's not the point of this RPG, in fact if you'll notice the most unique weapons are a sword that increases it's wielder's abilities(albeit at a cost), a lasso, needles used basically as acupuncture, and a pooper scooper. The last three are even noted as not being the best weapons in the world, used for purposes more specialized than just as a weapon. Most people in this RPG use basic weapons like swords, guns, and bows and arrows. A few characters merely use their fists.

 

So yeah, vibrating blade is nixed, plus vibration won't even help in cutting it. Even if you do someone how managed to get it to vibrate like a chainsaw, which is difficult enough, it wouldn't make a difference since you'd be slashing through something so fact it doesn't have time to grip and cut. Which is how things like chainsaws work, by gripping onto the object and then shredding, but it takes time. Also skin is notoriously hard to grip onto, so your weapon wouldn't even make it through skin. All that is besides the fact that a vibrating blade is just plain unnecessary.

 

I was talking about what age she appeared, and there really isn't such a thing as a teenage vampire, if they act like a teenager they're a teenager. And yes, I am asking about how strong her abilities are.

Possessing a rather sleek build and standing at a height of a metre seventy-five, she has a certain intimidating, yet graceful air about her. Her inner qi also blocks people from affecting her mind.Weapons: Soma possesses an enchanted flask of 息壤 (xirang), earth that can continuously grow, along with a nandao, the southern broadsword, and a miao dao, the infantry weapon of the Republic of China during the Second Sino-Japanese War.Weaknesses: Soma is rather limited in ranged combat, and her flask of xirang has a cooldown period after use due to the actions of the Yellow Emperor.

Yeah, that's correct.

Just FYI, I had no-idea about ya having a horse character. It just fit. :P

Got it w/ the Pack Mentality, it's not like there's a ton of horses around anyway.

Alright, I'm (hopefully) gonna type up a last post detailing Wally and Eliana's partnering, but if I don't get around to it than know that it happened. :P

Alright so I've randomized things to create the brackets for the Tournament. In this first game there will be 5 teams competing per game, two are PC teams, three are NPCs. The following are the brackets.

 

Alistair - Katherine and Adrian - Alexander

Dante - Shanon and Agnes - Brennus

Misayo - Vinnie and Placeholder1

Eduardo - Abraham and Tim - Septimus

Ren - Soma and Placeholder2

A few notes: Placeholder 1 refers to the team without Vincent. Placeholder 2 refers to the team with Vincent. Both placeholders account for the teams formed out of the three remaining unpartnered characters. Also Zakaro's characters are getting a pass for now, due to being absent for the following week. Another thing to note is that for the first round matches two teams will advance, however your characters won't know this so feel free for proper reactions.

To players planning on joining, depending on the timing of when your profile comes up you'll either be advanced this round and be paired with an NPC. Or if you join faster you'll be partnered with whoever out of the current three characters lacks a partner. Now for the players of Vincent, Zach, and Kyle, I will be randomly assigning your partners if you don't decide in four hours from the time of this post. One of you will be paired with an NPC, unless Vengent Spectre makes his new profile approvable by that time.

First game will be posted around 1 PM CST.

Hubert, pray tell what makes you think Venator Academy wields so little influence. Venator Academy is one of the most powerful organizations there is, it is entirely self sufficient so they can offer schooling to groups from various organizations, Venator Academy is free to rebuff anyone, and if an organization tries to say otherwise they won't just be up against Venator, they'll be up against all the other organizations that rely on Venator's technologies.

Me again, guy who hasn't actually posted characters yet because he's still working on them; got a question about how lycanthropes work (because when don't I make a werewolf charrie if given the chance?). Do you have to be born one? Or can you be transformed into one in some way? Because the section on them makes it sound like they're just born like any normnal human, but the intro points out that they were created somehow in the first place...

Name: Jeff Nicklestone

Gender: Male

Age: 16

Type: Exorcist

Specialization: Chanter/Summoner hybrid

Appearance: Standing at 5’ 5”, Jeff isn’t the tallest person on campus. He certainly isn’t the skinniest, weighing in at about 220 pounds. His blond hair tends to be greasy and medium in length, and his gray eyes are normally hidden by a pair of glasses with Transition lenses. Or his hair. He doesn’t wear the uniform’s jacket, and doesn’t wear the tie, either. Otherwise, the uniform is unchanged. And surprisingly as well, the uniform is kept neat and clean.

Personality: Jeff is extremely prideful, nearly as prideful as a Kitsune. Along with that, he is very smart and sharp-witted. Most people don’t like him due to how he acts, but that doesn’t mean he isn’t respected by a few for his academic and Chanting prowess. Jeff is also extremely serious about his academics, and to him friends are not very necessary to anything. He does, however, appreciate working on a team. But not working with people themselves. Unless communicating ideas or strategies, Jeff stays silent most of the time.

Biography: Jeff grew up in a normal British family, apart from the fact that both his mother and father were part of a long line of Exorcists. Not the most powerful line, but a very old line. So, Jeff’s parents trained him how to fight. But… well, his weight soon became apparent, and he really couldn’t fight too effectively. His parents, both of which were skilled Banishers, were worried that he wouldn’t be able to become an Exorcist. They began asking other Exorcists what Jeff could possibly do in his physical state. After conversing with many people, they decided to ask one of their close friends to tutor Jeff in Chanting. Surprisingly, he appeared a natural at Chanting. Once he reached the age of 15, his parents sent him to Venator Academy to increase his skills even more. Once there, in his freshman year he was considered one of the better Chanters in the Freshman class. Not good enough to skip any necessary classes, but still very good. This being his second year, most of the sophomores and some of the juniors know who he is.

Skills/Abilities: An extremely good Chanter, especially Chanting that weakens and sometimes, depending on how weak the demon is, hurts Demons, and somewhat good at Summoning demons as well. His intellect is also a very valuable tool as well.

Weapons: As a Chanter, Jeff doesn’t carry around weapons. However, he does keep a dagger with him, just in case something gets a little too close to him.

Weaknesses: Just like a Kitsune, his pride is a major weakness. He also isn’t the most athletic of people and is very, very poor with weaponry. If you gave him a gun, he’d probably end up shooting his foot instead of the target. If you gave him a normal sword, he’d end up losing quite a few fingers or a limb or two.

Both the Bio and Personality could use bulking. Also what aspects of Chanting is he good at, weakening the enemy, increasing the strength of allies, etc.

 

Also I've been informed of certain Captain Jack Harkness having relation so I would recommend changing the name.
