"Not at all. We probably should wait until Abyssium goes away though." 

 

She sat up again, trying to look awake. She doubted how effective it was, because apparently she wasn't very good at hiding emotions. "So, what's up?"

IC: Blaze

 

By this point her opponent (whose name she still didn't know) was clearly desperate. He'd taken a light hit to the hip and a heavy one to the side, and from the way he was blinking he might have had blood in his eyes. And yet he was charging at her, a reckless move even for her. Being mostly uninjured, it wasn't hard for Blaze to step out of the way, and as she did so she swung her mace again, aiming to smack him in the gut when his charge brought him into its path. With his momentum and its weight, the result would not be pretty.

IC: Rider

Rider chuckled to himself as he saw the mace coming. She thought this was a last resort. This is why it is so effective. He rolled under the swing and thrust his blade into Blaze's back.

IC: Blaze

 

That little chuckle set off alarm bells in Blaze's head, but it was too little, too late. The momentum of her swing forced her to turn when it failed to connect, leaving her back exposed to the sneaky little viper. Her carapace deflected the blade to the side and protected her from the worst of it - a rahkshi's back was hardly the most vulnerable part of her - but that didn't make the blow harmless. Far from it, as Blaze hissed loudly in pain as the weapon scored a nasty gash across her back and had her stumbling again.

 

She managed to turn around before he got in another free hit, but his was no longer the only unsteady footing. Fluid was starting to flow down her hip, and her right leg was shaking a bit. The two of them were on a much more even level now, but she still had the advantage in reach, and that trick would never work a second time. Shifting her weight to her good leg, she took another heavy swing at his weapon arm from outside the reach of his blade.

IC: Rider

Rider flinched back as he realized what happened. "Hey are you ok-" He was interrupted by her swinging her mace again. The mace hit his stationary arm painfully. He staggered his way to another slash, his other arm dangling uselessly.

IC: Revenge

 

Revenge would have clapped at Rider's move, but than he would have dropped Claws.  This battle was getting serious fast.

IC: Blaze

 

Blaze stepped back, cringing as the pain in her carapace flared up. She was now officially on her back leg, but she could keep the other rahkshi at bay by holding her mace ready. If he tried to come in for another attack she would be able to hit him before he got close enough; meanwhile, with her longer weapon, she could attack with relative impunity. And he wouldn't get past her again like he had before. She was ready for that trick this time. With this tactic in mind, she aimed another attack at his remaining arm. If he couldn't fight, she won.

IC: Raptor

 

Raptor suddenly felt a pain in his side. The after-effect of being hit by a mace. He gave a quick salute to Squid, transformed into flight mode, and flew back to the Academy, barely holding in his screams all the way there. He limped into the building, taking care not to be spotted by any others so as not to be thrown into the infirmary. He steadied himself only long enough to get to his dorm, where he plopped down on his bed.

IC: Rider

Rider moved his arm forwards to deflect the blow. The mace hit his back instead, making him cry out. He lunged forward with a kick followed by a short jab.

[Half-Dragon]

IC: Blaze

 

After a blow like that to the back, Blaze was amazed her opponent could walk, let alone kick, but kick he did. It also proved a bad idea, since Blaze had more than enough room to sidestep the attack, and the followup jab was limited to arm's reach, which she was not. Though it had not been without cost, Blaze knew that she'd won this fight, so she hefted her mace in a ready stance and told her opponent as much.

 

"You can barely walk," she said, pretending for the time being that her own leg wasn't shaking and her back still bleeding. It felt less hypocritical that way. "You've got one working arm and no hope of winning. Do you wanna add some broken limbs to the list or just admit you've lost this one?" And if he said no, she was ready to finish it decisively with a feint toward his arm that would angle sharply downward at his leg.

IC: Revenge

 

The flame-patterned Rahkshi's mace gives him increased range. Thought Revenge.  That wouldn't be a problem for me, but it puts Rider at a disadvantage.

IC: Rider

"Don't count your husi before they hatch." Rider said. Moving forward, he flipped his Wakizashi around and slammed the hilt of the metal blade into her head.

Raptor woke up, feeling much better. He decided to go to the gym, maybe someone was there.

IC Pounamu 

Pounamu looked away from the fight in front of him, to see one of the people he met yesterday enter the gym.

Raptor, I think his name was, he thought.

"Hello" he greeted, not wanting to embarrass himself by getting the name wrong.

Raptor nodded to Po, then stopped in his tracks as he saw Rider and a different Rahkshi facing off.

[Wyrd Bid Ful Araed]

IC: Amidst the hive of mostly empty boxes, something finally caught Xara's eye; a roll of black velvet that she first thought held some more intricate ornament but turned out to hold a series of knives. They were small and silvery, each marked with the same decals and markings along hilts and blades, a school of very dangerous fish sitting on their black sea. A small plaque attached to the other side of the roll declared them to be called The Talons

 

 

Wraith had scored similar rewards, though in a different class. The finest weapon amid the crate she had torn apart was a flail, the handle sturdy, the chain links thick, the weighted orb lined with serrated ridges. There were sharp and spiked patterns all along the weight, hinting at its power and purpose, with the grip bearing only its name: Arm's Reach

 

 

OOC: The Talons: Throwing daggers, hold one and you can summon the others to your hand

IC: Venge

 

Venge saw Raptor fly overhead back to the Academy, clearly injured. Man, seems like I'm the only one bored around here, he thought. He arrived at the remains of the village, and saw the destruction that the others had caused. He heard the sounds of combat deeper in the village, and followed the noise.

"I'll spar" He said with a steady voice even though he was a bit nervous.

Raptor placed his satchel and bow in the corner of the gym and pulled out two arrows. He pressed a small button and the arrows opened up to become sai-like melee weapons. He got into his fighting stance and motioned to Po.

"You ready?"

Pounamu stood opposite of his opponent and gripped his Taiaha.

"I'm ready" he said, waiting for his opponent to make the first move.

OOC This is a Taiaha. We both picked obscure weapons.

IC: Raptor

 

Raptor started to circle around his opponent. He knew he had the advantage of speed, but his resilience was lacking. He'd have to figure out Po's fighting stance, strengths, and weaknesses before getting involved.

IC Pounamu

Pounamu quickly figured out that his opponent was just a cautious as he was, and that someone had to make the first move.

He opted for a quick vertical strike to test his opponent's reaction time.

IC: Blaze

 

Though not in the best state physically, Blaze was still aware enough to see that one coming a mile away. She stepped aside as he approached and was just about to go for her planned attack when the pain in her back flared up - she must have stressed it too much with that sidestep. Hissing angrily, she dropped to one knee as her leg finally collapsed under her. Her hands still gripped her mace, though, and she had it at the ready to defend. Surely, with all that charging and swinging, he must be feeling his own injuries too.

Raptor spun away, catching the tip of the taiaha with his sai. He stood where he was, keeping both his and his opponent's weapons steady.

IC: Rider

Claws whimpered in Revenge's hands as he watched Rider and Blaze battle. Rider stumbled as he missed the hit. Pain swarmed into his thigh. He coughed, spitting out blood. Rider stumbled his way into a right hook towards her face.

IC: Revenge

 

Revenge petted Claws some more, "It's going to be ok, little guy."  Seeing another fight starting Revenge backed away from both groups, not wanting to get pinned between the four fighters.

IC: Blaze

 

Seemed he was as stubborn as her. Even coughing up blood, he wouldn't give up. She had to respect that. But her upper body was still fine, and she lifted her mace as she'd prepared to, blocking his blow and forcing him back. With the weight on her good leg and her bad one on its knee she could just about handle this. At the opening she took the haft of the mace in both hands and swung it at his legs, gambling that he wouldn't be in any state to dodge the attack this time.

IC Pounamu 

With his weapon caught, Pounamu's first priority was to get it free.  Rushing in, he attempted to point the base of his weapon (the sharp end) toward Raptor.  He hoped to free the top of his weapon while preparing the base to parry Raptor's other weapon.

Man, kick me out while I'm at school, why don't you?

 

IC: Abyssium

How rude, to kick a guy out while he's thinking. Ah, well. I'll sneak back later and figure out what the heck they're up to. With that decision made, Abyssium decided to go slice a training dummy up while he continued to plan out how to go about his life here at Corpus Rahkshi.

I'm going to the training room. Free for interaction. If someone could give me a rundown on who's in the training room, it'll help. Feel free to have someone challenge Abyssium to fight.

Raptor jumped back, Po's rush making his task easier for him. He yanked the interlocked weapons over his shoulder, trying to rip them from Po's grasp.

 

OOC: Hey, av, here's who's in the gym: Revenge with Claws the crab, Rider and Blaze (in combat), Raptor and Pounamu (in combat).

Rider collapsed to the ground. "Good fight." He said, laughing. He dropped his head tiredly. "I just.. ouch."

Revenge set Claws down.  "Need some help?" He called to Rider and the other Rahkshi.

IC Pounamu

Pounamu realized that he wouldn't be getting full control of his weapon with brute force.  When he felt Raptor try to pry his weapon from him, he held onto his Taiaha, and used the momentum to leap at him with a kick.

IC: Rider

Claws scampered his way over, licking Rider's face. Rider smiled. Claws would always be his friend.

IC: Revenge

 

Revenge walked over to Rider.  "Come on, lets get you patched up," he said.

IC: Omega

Omega looked Venge up and down. He clearly wasn't a threat right now. He nodded and flew off back to Flash. "What exactly are you doing?" He said, scratching his headplate.

IC: Flash

 

She looked up at Omega and chuckled. "You'll see. Just call it extra credit for now. By the way, have you seen Phogen or the others anywhere."

IC: Raptor

 

Raptor wasn't ready for Po to do something reckless like that. He hurriedly brought up his other sai, hoping for the best. His strike connected, but the strength of the impact twisted his arm and let the sai fall out of his hand and onto the floor. He screamed, ripping the sai in his right hand out of Po's taiaha.

 

OOC: Maybe it wasn't clear, but I just stuck my knife into your foot.

"Nah it's alright. Palma has enough on her plate already. Let's just grab some bandages for now." He said, struggling to get up.
