Pokemon
Odd title, huh? Not really, if you read on . . .

As it is time for the Pokemon of the Week again, and if you are a good guesser, or can look down, you'll know it's . . . . Trapinch!

Trapinch? Trapinch. Before you call me insane (or more insane, as the case may be) listen. Trapinch has a few awesome things going for it:
  • It is the only Pokemon other than Dugtrio to have the Arena Trap ability
  • Its horrible Speed means it is super fast in Trick Room
  • No one expects a Trapinch (or the Spanish Inquisition, but I ramble on)
Therefore, this is the best (and only, really) moveset for a competitive Trapinch:

Trapinch @ Choice Band
Brave Nature
52 HP / 252 Atk / 204 SpD
~ Earthquake
~ Rock Slide
~ Quick Attack
~ Crunch

This allows Trapinch, with Trick Room support, to revenge kill quite well. Brave nature and 0 Speed IVs means Trapinch outspeeds everyone except Shuckle in Trick Room. From there, it can attack with its now 175 Base Attack to destroy other Pokemon. And the EVs listed allow Trapinch to survive HP from Raichu, Magnezone, Zapdos, and Manectric. In fact, those are some of the best Pokemon for Trapinch to kill with its STAB move. Of course, it is diffucult to get the Ant Pit Pokemon in, so you may need to sacrifice your Trick Room Pokemon to do so.

Still, Trapinch can be pretty nasty, and is easily a great, UU version of Dugtrio, while slightly inferior.

Ballom's Rating: 3/5. While a somewhat decent attacker on a Trick Room team, at best Trapinch is mediocre in serious battling.

Odd. I never thought of using a pre-vo in UU.

Well, many pre-evolutions can be used that way: FEAR Rattata, PIE Phanpy, and Light Ball Pikachu. So a Trapinch, thanks to its ability and good Attack, is not so out-of-bounds in that aspect.

There is also Clamperl, which reaches 542 Sp. Atk when holding a DeepSeaTooth.

*Looks that up*

Wow, I never knew that. Thanks.

*Schemes about future PotW's*

PIE is better than FEAR IMO.

That thing about Clamperl is quite interesting. I'll have to look into more items like that.

But not that many people know about PIE, for example.

Which makes it even better.
