well i would imagine that, considering their rarity, giant sky whales would have very valuable hides and teeth and meat and stuff. so maybe he was flying around some hostile hunters/natives/hunting natives who tried to kill him? it may have even happened a long time ago, when he wasn't famous, or perhaps giant sky whales used to be considered evil and were actively hunted or something? there's a number of possibilities

well because this time we move we decided it's going to be out-of-state(because Florida sucks), so basically we've had to really crack down on what we're keeping and what we aren't, and a gigantic stuffed frog collection that takes up about three decently-sized containers that you have no real means to display or whatever is just hard to rationalize keeping other than i love frogs so
