  1. I loved it! Very nicely written. Drives me nuts though because I was rooting for old Steltie (my name for him) even though the whole time you know what's going to happen to him. Ah well, can't change that I guess... but all in all, great job, especially including Voporak and the mask of time.
  2. Oh dear, I completely forgot about all those protodermic seas... that could get very messy. They do a good job of giving an example of what happens when the Great Spirit Robot shuts down in the Kingdom alternate universe, when Matoro fails to save Mata Nui. Apparently, parts of the universe caved in, letting sea water from Aqua Magna flood in, which mixed with the universes energies making even more mutating pit water, and everyone had to evacuate minus the Zyglak and Makuta. Of course, Mata Nui was still under the ocean at that time, so circumstances were a bit more drastic, but it does paint a good picture of how dire the situation could easily get.
  3. I like those suggestions. Very well thought out. But I must remark, that the mask of shielding does project a force shield around its user, as stated in Biosector01, so would the mask of protection work against ambushes as well, or were you going to add a different type of protection then?
  4. Exactly, take the Barraki for example. They were gone, presumed dead, but gone for thousands and thousands of years, but the instant that Helryx lets them out, Pridax has a huge army already and in ready to march on Metru Nui. Evil tends to follow evil, although one might argue that Pridak could use his reputation to win the crowds, but that's unlikely because he didn't resemble himself in his previous form, so I doubt anyone thought for sure that he was the Warlord from the old days. But I digress. The Shadowed one really wouldn't have any trouble getting the skrall and bone hunters to join. Course he could use his agents to get the word out among the inhabitance.
  5. Makuta aren't gods though, not even close. Sure they're OP, but they were created, and when they were created they were simply Rahi creators. Sure they rose in their role in the universe, became "overseers" of the universe, but that doesn't equivalent them to being gods. And Bonesii just stated that the Makuta didn't choose to change, it just happened naturally because of their genetic makeup.
  6. Tahu, and the Rahkshi and the Piraka definitely... I also would've liked some new characters we haven't seen yet, (I would've loved to have a complete set of characters not just 6 small ones, but oh well) hmm, maybe one last Makuta that somehow wasn't killed off, perhaps a Dark Hunter. Then for a hero, maybe a new Glatorian, or even maybe a Vorox that wasn't altered, so we get a chance to see what they looked like beforehand.
  7. Wow, it's amazing so far. I love how you used the battle that created the Forest of Blades that Tubduk found on his adventure. Everything is coming together quite nicely, and you even added the non-altered Vorox. And I totally knew what would happen once our hero picked up his weapons that he left behind, that was very well written. Ohhh those sneaky Baterra... Can't wait til next week for the next chapter.
  8. Well maybe, but in BIONICLE the Rahi (and sea creatures) that Hahli copied didn't exactly have "powers" so I'm pretty sure that by powers, it basically means abilities that other creatures don't have, that just come naturally. Kinda like the "powers" that the Barraki have, Mantax with his poison, Carapar, immunity to most attacks, Kalmah, regeneration (to a certain degree), Takadox enhanced hypnosis, and Ehlek and his electric spines. Those could be called powers, but they also are common among sea creatures.
  9. BS01 is confusing on this; it says "power" in the main article, but the sidebar says "abilities." There's also the quote at the top attributed to Hahli: "There are beasts of the sea immune to any venom, and I am as well, if I choose." But that could be a power or an ability; at first I thought it would be a biological thing, but "any" may imply a power that cheats. In short, I dunno. I think I looked it up in the actual book sources and found an answer when I was working on that part of the story for my retelling but now I forget what I found lol. I would think flying would definitely be out, at least for Earth animals; if a bird flies because it has wing bones and feathers, it's hard to see how Kindred would help. That would be more shapeshifting (one or two mask powers covers that I think... I forget the proper labels at moment though...). It's possible the mask wouldn't work at all in our universe unless somebody started giving animals the ability to use mask powers too. I'm sure that the mask could work in our universe. For example, you could mimic spider powers, and climb walls (aka Spiderman) or could use a bat's echo location for sonar, certain creatures can heal themselves faster, so you could use that, or your senses could be enhanced, by mimicking creatures that have greater sense of smell, hearing, or sight. Or even you could be immune to poison, like Hahli told Mantax, or you could give an electric charge like eels in our world. If you're creative, it's definitely a good mask to have around.
  10. Exactly... and that could lead to a bunch of problems... course that's two Hydraxons for Velika to worry about Oooo! Plot twist! Maybe Velika didn't learn about what the Ignika did to Dekar, and he supposedly "kills" one Hydraxon, but then the other shows up, and Velika is all "Whaaaaaaat????" which gives Hydraxon the advantage of surprise, and could possibly do something to help. It's an idea anyways, and it'd be cool to see if that could happen.
  11. Well it probably wasn't all the way intentional, because Mutran states in his chronicles that Bitil and some of the others were rather shocked when they suddenly changed. Apparently they didn't see it coming, at least not all of them did.
  12. That adds for another interesting idea... while we're talking about character doubles, we already know that the original Hydraxon was resurrected, what would happen if the Dekar/Hydraxon died? would he be restored to his matoran form, or would he still be Hydraxon? would he go to the Red Star at all, since Hydraxon has already been "restored".
  13. It is called antidermis. Though Teridax called it nothing, but that was a lie. "I bore you. For I am nothing." Well, yes it's called antidermis, but Biosector01 states that it was the Piraka who gave it that name. How well known that name is among the MU inhabitance well, that's up for grabs lol While Teridax said that he was nothing, I'm pretty sure that was an analogy or something, cuz the makuta are *definitely* something. They were created, they lived and they can die. Simple as that.
  14. Forgive me for misunderstanding but where are you getting Nothing from? The Makuta were created from Antidermis, so there was definitely something there, housed inside their armor shells, and then after a few hundred thousand years they all "evolved" into a state where they could live without having to worry about food, air, or any mundane things. They were given more abilities (easier kraata production) as well as the ability to possess any non inhabited robot shell or body. It's not that far fetched really. Unfortunately, that is not how evolution works. Not even close. And when you are made of something called "Antidermis", as in the diametrical opposition of everything that the world is built of, why would even need anything provided by the "material" in the first place? Stands to reason that Makuta never truly needed to worry about food or air or all that anyway, because they are not part of our understanding of "something". Thus, they are "Nothing". As suggested by the magnum opus. Hence why I put " " around the word evolve, because it was evolution in word only. It's more like a devolution, because their essense kinda reverted back into it's original form while keeping their concious intact. As far as the name goes, it was never referred to as Antidermis by the Makuta themselves, it was the Piraka who gave it that name, when they were using it to enslave the Matoran of VN. They saw it as a virus to be used to their own devices, with only Zaktan knowing what it truly was. So story wise, even though it was popularly called "antidermis" it simply was the material created by the Great Beings for Mata Nui to make the Makuta species. And Biosector01 clearly states that it was only after their transformation that they didn't need the mundane things of life, such as sleep, food, air, water etc, so apparently they needed those before hand, just like everyone else. So therefore they were actually Something when they were created. Besides, they were a very sectretive society, I highly doubt that they made the fact of their "transformation" common knowledge to the outside world. So it would make sense that the Piraka (who were long time Dark Hunters) didn't recognise a Makuta's essense immediately, calling it antidermis, since they didn't know what it truly was.
  15. Makuta don't have two faces. The Kraahkan (or Mask of Shadows) was just given that feature so that the Mask could be used by both a Makuta and a Toa, and also applies to the fact that the mask could change shape whenever Teridax wanted it to. And when he took the form of a Matoran he did so because the matoran was the one thing that the Toa were sworn to protect, so in disguising himself as one, he took them off guard so he could gain the advantage of surprise.
  16. Forgive me for misunderstanding but where are you getting Nothing from? 17. Keep in mind that the Makuta didn't evolve until after Teridax took over from Misterix, so there was plenty of time for the Makuta to get to know each other and become familiar with who was who, and so forth. So once they did evolve, it's not surprising that they remembered, "Oh, Gorast is a girl..." it would just be common knowledge among their own. As far as others go, well Gorast did have a reputation in her own land, so no one will likely forget what gender she was, unless she purposefully shapeshifted to disguise herself. After quite a few thousand years, it wouldn't be that big a deal. Well, yes Kiina was female for starters, so yes they do have genders.
  18. What does it matter? The average person doesn't know how to make cars now yet can buy them. But yes, in principle I do know how to make a car right now. But I'm a physics geek, not the average person. (But that really doesn't matter. Whatever job you have, whatever your skill set, chances are Matatu could help, earning money more, so it's easier to buy a vehicle from people who make 'em -- plus it could really help people experiment and make them faster even if there were none! Travel masks only get you to work and other places faster; they don't help you actually do work. Bleagh. ) Which is why the Mask of Creation would be the best because you could make anything your heart desired, money, cars, a house, basically anything. Your career would skyrocket. Then you could worry about having to get from point A to point B lol
  19. I think of it as when Teridax "possessed" Maxilos. Basically he had Maxilos' abilities (which weren't that much, though he still had a bunch of his own powers) he kinda "downloaded" his mind into the robot. But his Antidermis was still inside the machine, which was stated when Matoro froze him, and he risked his essence being frozen solid (resulting in killing him). I think he did the same thing with the Core Processor, just letting his essence flow into the machine and therefore letting him control it that way, just like any other robot. Albeit this robot had much greater abilities, but I think it's the same concept.
  20. That actually came to my mind once or twice. I wonder, if you could use successfully store many many powers into just one Kanohi... would it be able to stand the power inside?
  21. It makes one wonder if Velika *could* take down Voporak, to get that mask... I mean, we've already seen the guy in a fight, and he's quite formidable, being able to age anything that gets near him... that's quite a threat to our matoran/great being.
  22. Oh... right haha details. But yeah, they look great.
  23. They say he understands the Irish. And any man who understands the Irish, can't be reckoned altogether bad. ;)

    1. Tattorack

      Tattorack

I've lived in Ireland for 8 years of my life. I guess it could be said that I somewhat understand them... the cheery and the dark as dribble parts (dark usually meaning Guinness. Yuck!).

      TERIDAX941

Ah, makes sense. I know an Irish lass, she's quite the lovely sort, once you get used to her lol

  24. I concur with Mal, the third is probably my favorite. I second the motion!
  25. May I point out that all of those friends had elemental powers, which never came into the picture in the Arena matches? Also Mata Nui has the power of Life itself on his side - not even Skrall could stand against that for long. Wait, weren't there other, non-elemental Glatorian in that battle? Possibly, such as Gelu and Strakk, there's no record of Mata Nui giving them powers (sorry ice tribe, but apparently you guys aren't trusted with those) But I'm sure Mata Nui didn't have time to give everyone powers, just the select few.
