  1. IC: Jayar / The Library The Rahkshi Hoto was leading him to was orange and black - Exxan. Jayar wondered if he would remember being almost knocked over earlier, and how he would respond if he did. "There's Exxan," he said. He looked around. Phogen was nowhere to be found, thankfully, but it was probably somewhere. "I don't see Phogen anywhere."
  2. IC: Jayar / Outside the Library Phogen. Jayar had heard of... it. A persuasive Rahkshi with plenty of power and no morals to inhibit using said power in any way which could elevate itself, no matter the cost to others. Oh yes, he had heard of Phogen. Perhaps someday Phogen would hear of him... But not yet. "Phogen would probably rather convince them to join its band of followers than annoy them by policing the library," he said. "Exxan is more likely to defend the realm of knowledge, from what I hear. What we really need it a Rahkshi of Silence." He noted a look of discomfort on Hoto's face. "Are you alright?"
  3. IC: Jayar / Outside the Library "Indeed." agreed Jayar. "On the bright side, though, if it does involve some scholarly pursuit, then the entire school will be quieter during the assignment because everyone will be reading instead of fighting." He thought about how absurd the thought of a peaceful Corpus Rahkshi was. "Well, not everyone. But at least some."
  4. I have an IRL MoC of Jayar that I plan on sharing... Eventually...
  5. IC: Jayar / Outside the Library Jayar listened attentively to the two blind Rahkshi discussing echolocation. They seemed in agreement they it would be difficult, almost impossible, for a seeing Rahkshi to learn. No matter. He would persist... though after the assignment, probably. "I'm willing to try whatever the two of you come up with," he said. "Although it may have to wait until after this assignment. Any guesses as to what we're going to have to do this time?" Jayar asked the group.
  6. Yeah I thought of that too. Too bad, just now he has the perfect opportunity to make that reference in-game. And that's it for the night. See you all tomorrow.
  7. IC: Jayar / Outside the Library So the Derahk - Era - was indeed blind. "Pleased to meet you both," Jayar said. "So you are a mathematician then?" he asked Victor - err, Vector.
  8. IC: Jayar / Library-->Outside the Library Jayar waited in the library for a few minutes, but the announcement was not likely to begin for another few minutes, to give all the students time to assemble. He was beginning to feel bad about leaving the Gym without Hoto immediately after receiving the Porters' message. He could easily have waited a few minutes for Hoto to return and gotten to the library with her in plenty of time. He stood around for another minute, scanning the crowd for Hoto, then noticed her outside the Library doors... talking with two Rahkshi, of Sonics and Accuracy. Well, whatever. It was unlikely that she was hanging out with maniacs so he walked outside of the library and up to the little group. "Hey Hoto." He called over when he was in close proximity to the group. "Sorry I left you back there..." He looked to the Derahk, and quickly realized she had no eyes. Was she blind too? That would explain Hoto's strange distraction in the Gym. He proceeded to examine the Sanokrahk and found not much to comment on. "Would you introduce me to your friends?" he asked.
  9. IC: Jayar / The Gym-->Library A rolling noise invaded the room. Jayar whipped off his blindfold - pity, he'd been hopeful for a day of learning - as the porters rolled in with their message. Jayar wasn't sure he wanted to be part of an assignment. He had hated the premise of the first, and loathed the premise of the second. But, seeing as the students were being called to the Library, this could likely be a more scholarly assignment. Jayar headed to the Library to at least see what the assignment was. He hoped Hoto wouldn't mind that he had left.
  10. About echolocation, what Click said. I don't plan on Jayar ever having anything more than a very weak sense of it indeed, maybe just strong enough for him to get a vague sense of direction in a Darkness field, like one of the Twin's swords throws up. But if Ultron dictates it too OP Jayar just won't be able to get the hang of it. Also, I'm number 16 on that top 20 list? (Higher with this post!) That was not expected.
  11. Poly, anyone? Okay, maybe not exactly the same, but still! I was the inspired one! Kind of... To be honest it was VahkiDane saying Omega was going to be torn between Fang and Phogent that got me thinking about it. I suggested Omega come down with DID if you recall.

  14. Granted, you can hear EVERYTHING and you go insane. I wish that the ozone layer wasn't depleting.
  15. IC: Jayar / The Gym Jayar heard footsteps - a Rahkshi was approaching him. Was it Hoto or someone else? Then the newcomer asked Jayar what he was doing, and his voice was clearly not Hoto. "I am practicing." He said simply. But his reward was the sound of footsteps growing slowly quieter. Beneath his blindfold Jayar rolled his eyes. And then, briefly, he detected it - in the direction of the footsteps, the echo was returning faster than other directions! But as soon as he got hold of the sensation, it vanished. Karzahni, Jayar thought. For a moment here had got hold of the illusive skill, but then he had lost out again. Still, he had proven to himself out could be done. He just needed the right mindset, or something. He switched hands, tapping his right arm with his left hand, and tried again to discern and interpret the echoes of the resounding noises. OOC: you know, Arcticfreeze, that it's common courtesy to give someone time to respond before walking off. Jayar open to interaction.
  16. Seriously? I was going to make a Rahkshi with two personalities! Thief Well, I still will as soon as I get non-mobile access again. Guess it's my fault for throwing the idea around.
  17. IC: Jayar / The Gym Jayar listened intently as Hoto stumbled through an explanation of echolocation. She seemed suddenly distracted, and it was no surprise to Jayar when she rushed off, her footsteps soon lost amongst the clamor of the gym. So, rapid sonic pulses. Jayar thought about how he could easily generate such a phenomenon. He tapped his left forearm with his right hand's index finger. A quiet metallic click sounded at the point of contact. He drummed the rest of his fingers on his arm, and a satisfying series of noises flew into the room. Until he figured out a better way to make rapid sonic pulses, this would probably do. And it had the advantage of not requiring any equipment which could tip an enemy off to his (theoretical future) ability. He listened carefully to the sounds as they bounced into the gym. Straining his hearing, he could hear a faint echo returning to him from all sides, but he was unable to interpret it as anything at the moment. Jayar tried to mentally filter out the clamor of weapons. It was a fruitless effort. He turned his attention again to the echo of the tapping noises. Could he detect a faint difference between the return times to his left than his right? OOC: Jayar open to interaction.

  20. Granted, but none of your possessions or money moves with you and you become a homeless wanderer. I wish Togo was a major world power.
  21. IC: Jayar / The Gym Jayar contemplated Hoto's question. He thought about his senses and how he could use them. Hoto was right that hearing was probably most valuable, but it would be difficult to hear the whir of a blade in the time needed to stop it. Smell was his other main option - taste and touch would hardly detect a blade unless it hit him - but he couldn't see that working out in combat. "I don't know," he finally said. "That's why I came to you."
  22. IC: Jayar / The Gym "I heard your voice, and to a lesser extent, your footsteps, and the clicking off your armor."
  23. IC: Jayar / The Gym "I can." Jayar almost pointed towards where he heard Hoto's voice, but stopped himself. Hoto couldn't see him point. "You're in front of me, to my right."
  24. IC: Jayar / Infirmary-->Gym "No, not often." he replied. "But I would rather be prepared, in case the need should arise." He was speaking in a normal voice now, clearly Hoto's hearing was quite capable. "And, to be perfectly honest, I want to prove to myself that I can." He and Hoto arrived in the Gym. "I should probably graba blindfold." Jayar said. He ducked into the armory and grabbed one, then returned to Hoto and donned it. The black curtain of his vision was not oppressive, but to live with it forever? Hoto was indeed resilient to do so. "Whenever you're ready," he said, "I am, for the moment, as blind as you, and your attentive pupil,"
