  1. Perhaps there is some kind of oxygen tanks that Matoran were suppose to use at chute-access stations? And they would wear these when they traveled by chute.
  2. At least they had some functionality, unlike say, the Glatorian canisters (aside from storage).
  3. Especially on a weight-bearing piece like the hip.
  4. I know the memory-wipe aspect of the pods was the intentional outcome desired by Teridax, in order to replace Mata Nui with himself as a savior in the eyes of the Matoran, but I’ve always wondered if the whole “downsizing” aspect was intentional or if that was simply a byproduct.
  5. Best: the Toa Mata canisters Worst: the Phantoka canisters.
  6. In terms of looks I would say the Thornax launcher was the worst, being just two rods holding a spiky ball. In terms of functionality I would say the squid launcher was the worst, as more often than not my squids would just get their head stuck in the "barrel" or their tails would rip after only a few uses.
  7. Some reckons that peeved me off: -No love -Vakama didn't have visions, his AI was just glitchy -The Matoran having sapience was just a fluke -Pohatu was always orange, from day one.
  8. They exist for the same reason your body isn't just full of red blood cells, your body needs other kind of cells to work properly. I assume the GSR functioned under the same principal.
  9. Yes, while they were clones sets of clone sets, the Bohrok-Kal had the distinction of being the first Bionicle (canister sets) antagonists who weren't either Rahi or members of a swarm. So that's a defitinate plus.
  10. Maybe he was there because it was the last place anyone would expect to find a semi-mystical Rahi like himself?
  11. Because without their masks, they would all have the same face! LOL. But seriously, its because the mask funtions like a life-support system (why you would put such an important system in such an obvious and precarious place is beyond me), keeping the Matoran conscious and active. Part of it may even be a cultural thing, perhaps its taboo to be seen without your mask on?
  12. To me, the one thing about Bionicle's story that didn't sit right with me was the "You are Destined to do [blank]" bit. As a person who believes that our fates are our own to decide, and nothing is pre-determed. You can see why I wouldn't be a fan of this. Anywho, assuming that everything and anything in the Bio-verse IS destined and pre-determined, this raises some pretty Fridge Horror-like implications. Every being who died would have been destined to do so, Toa Lhikan? Destined to die by Teridax's (shadow) hand, there was nothing Vakama could have done to stop it. How many innocent Matoran were killed by an accident only because they we're destined to do so. Maybe I'm just being too pessimistic about this whole thing, there's no real proof that everything in the Bio-verse is destined.
  13. I personally don't care for the sets or the story, I know alot of people like them, and thats great. But G2 is not for me.
  14. I keep them on a wooden shelf next to my Transformers.
  15. I personally was rather peeved it was only shown in an off-hand mention. But as I didn't much care for the film itself, I can't find it in me to get worked up about this.
  16. I think that it was more LEGO Star Wars who ended LEGO's non-violence policy. Those sets came out a few years before Bionicle did and featured more promenent weapons (E.G. they were called "Blasters", where as Bionicle usually stuck to using "Tools"). Star Wars also featured Humans, which may not seem to be a big deal, but having human characters shooting and killing other Humans is a bit different than "robots" killing other "robots".
  17. I would have personally like to see more Deep Purple be used.
  18. Notes on the figure itself: I do not have a ton of Bionicle parts to work with, but I am happy with what I was able to make. I tried my best to build her around her character traits. She is suppose to be young and childish. So I made her torso short, gave her smaller feet, narrower shoulders and chose Kopaka's mask because it was the least threatening mask I had in white. She was originally to be white with green highlights, but that just didn't turn out how I wanted. So I went with my second choice, blue. The peg on her back is to hold her sword. Bio: Toa Makanii was once a mere scholar, learning all she could about the universe, but with the reunification of Spherus Magna and the arrival of new threats, a new breed of Toa had to be created. One that could not only fight, but learn, and adapt. Makanii was chosen not only because of her enthusiasm for learning, but also for her compassion. A necessary tool in showing the Agori that the Matoran peoples have come with only good intentions. But Makanii's outward joy and enthusiasm masks her deep seated fear that she will not be able to live up to both the Legends of old and Mata Nui's expectations. Weapons: Toa Makanii is armed with a duel-sided sword and a disc launcher. Mask: Toa Makanii wears a great Mask of Clairvoyance, in the shape of an Akaku, to pay homage to the late Kopaka. Abilities: Toa Makanii is not very agile or strong, but she possesses great mental powers. She is able to control the minds of weaker-minded beings and is also capable of subtly influencing others by planting thoughts into their heads. However, this is very exhausting on her, and she cannot do this for long.
