  1. Those were technically experimental 3 years back in the day. But not bringing characters back by relying on names alone, not sticking to some of the fundamental colors and equipment and physique aspects and changing them almost beyond recognition is mindboggling. I'm forever disappointed how much the designers "simplified" things with a overflow of gray/silver. Pohatu got the worst of it So his mask looks like a fake kanohi vahi. The excuse for the brown gone is the marketing strategy with brown bionicle sets always lagging behind in sales. His colorscheme is like faint orange fireworks in the middle of the day (gray). And the fact that they added tan (one of pohatu's secondary colors) mixed with reddish brown on the Vorox the following year in 2009 felt like a insult.
  2. Yes it's one of those that can't be repaired. A 13 year old gun and i doubt it's easy to open that thing and get a new spring that matches. The Exo Toa is similar, the spring literally is integrated into the whole gun.
  3. Old one got shot down because of topic revival. (Ironic since this topic talks about shooting ) Here's how i rated the launchers throughout the years Matoran Disk Arm: Not the best start. The disk falls out, it's hard to aim and the arms wear out with heavy play. 5/10 2003 Kohlii Hammer game: The matoran bodies flop around a lot for the hammer to hit consistently. 4/10 2004 Kanoka: Vakama had the best version and these are great. 8/10 Rhotuka Launcher: They're neat at first you can't hit anything. Also don't use it outdoors, i had to fetch one of mine off a rooftop once. 6/10 Zamor: Great for aim but the ammo isn't secure if you are using a piraka. Really good though 7/10 Cordak: big, clunky too heavy for a character to hold sometimes. Ammo tends to get stuck. 7/10 Squid: Just pathetic, sometimes they barely work, or the squids wear out and snap/ break. The rubber that the launcher is made out of deteriorates over time making it unusable 1/10 Midak Skyblaster: Really big but more secure for ammo. Never aim at others. 10/10 Makuta Shadow Leeches: Interesting concept but doesn't always work like opening the ribcage or shell doesn't open. 5/10 Midak Ghost Launcher: Really strange, sometimes the darts don't get enough air to fly far and the dart is too huge to fly far. 3/10 Thornax Launcher: Exploding fruit weird but good aim and firing speed, also compatible with zamor balls. 8/10 2015 Stud Launcher: Very easy to reload, good rate of fire and the ammo is secure never falls out easily. This is also versatile and has many combinations including a chest mounted gun, shoulder gun, or part of a Onua Uniter's drill hammer. 10/10 Best one is is the stud shooter in my opinion. Lego perfected it before bionicle g2 was using it.
  4. It's just a way of life. It's you can't create toy a theme without problems. Not all ideas work after production, and thats when you decide to continue or discontinue it to minimize money loss. In my opinion CCBS biggest flaw from the moment it was created is the skeletal design. They only look good on, but when the figure is viewed from the back you see glaring flaws like joints that only look half-filled in and big gaps. The shells have a limited number of designs before they became repetitive with recolors. If anyone received the DCComics/Marvel CCBS megabuilds figures it becomes evident how bad the figures could be. Hulk was terrible https://brickset.com/sets/4530-1/The-Hulk The Joker set even worse https://brickset.com/sets/4527-1/The-Joker
  5. Just like the topics i've always wondered about just how powerful the Toa of Okoto were supposedly. First the Okoto Toa in question They had the excuse of masks that supplied them their element and gold versions were a enhancement of their power and have alternate weapons. Only notable thing in G2 is that Onua broke the bridge outside the maze to topple the lord of skull spiders off the bridge escaping that fight but after the maze later a minor enemy leader Kulta (Mask Grinder) knocked them over easily. When the Uniters G2 Uniters came i was not sure about how strong they were now since they essentally had battle partner beasts with a combined forms. But in the animated series ending the Uniters had a ability to sacrifice themselves by turning into pure elemental forms to defeat Makuta As for the G1 Mata/Nuva G1Toa have elements inside of them and their masks are useful and unique instead of being elemental batteries but they are weakened if the mask is lost. The Nuva were significantly upgraded with their masks sharing the abilities to nearby allies and when they got adaptive armor. They also had significant feats like pohatu crumbling the dark hunters fortress with a timed stone bomb and gali destroyed the karzahni realm namesakes. What are your theories. How did the teams compare?
  6. I think Exo-Force is the same as Bionicle G2. The series did get off to a great start but my guess is that the theme dragged the Golden City plot for too long and sales plummeted fast. That's why it got dropped.
  7. Exactly. It's same for the mouth on Onua's Pakari mask. and the ridges on the yellow Hau. I think it was part of a smoke silhouette scene. However the fact that he made two of Akamai's torso's red and the lowest piece blue is really strange. One of his arms is also light gray which is easily mistaken for a part of Wairuha's shield arm.
  8. I think you need to rethink that. I added a side by side image of onewa and nuju who is more likely to be a rhino with a scope lens.
  9. That's quite the exquisite build. The ammount of pohatu torso's and rahkshi feet for leaves alone in this is just staggering.
  10. I've always preferred the metru matoran build. it combines a decent ammount of height and poseability.
  11. Actually i think it was just intentional mutations supposed to look like their masks. Most of them look like lizards and iguana's with mask characteristics.
  12. Impressive and creepy. The scene from the transformers comics was unnerving back in the day. The only difference here is that Visorak are essentially violent beasts uncapable of feelings or remorse.
  13. At least it was a better alternative than removing out stone and replace it with another element be a main element and stone would no longe be the last of main 6 hero elements. Mata Nui was a exception since the Ignika makes him essentially Life/God element. They could have as well have made his yellow completely gold even to signify his importance even higher.
  14. Makuta Teridax was the one owned Niwavk. The brotherhood of makuta created many rahi creatures so i wouldn't be surprised about where he was created where from.
  15. It's really odd that lego couldn't keep a legacy color like brown on Pohatu when he came out in 2008. I still remember how ugly orange looked on him and how his mask looked like a fake Vahi mask with a added visor.
  16. I know it's not related. But i hate that G2 tried to invent the Matoran with a less unique name like Protectors. Same with Master and Uniter of *element* instead of Toa thing
  17. You pretty much listed them all but i have a few nitpicks about 2008 as a whole. The Toa Nuva. The teams were terrible for both Phantoka and Mistika Nuva, but the Mistika were really bad. Personally i hated the clunky and heavy midak launchers since the cost for the launchers and ammunition could have been put to better use. Both teams also used gray and silver too heavily. Kopaka: His lens is on the wrong side of the mask and has a lack of a decent melee weapon. Who he got instead has tiny knife/bayonet on his gun. Which is terrible for someone known for wielding swords. Lewa: Lost his regular green as a main color and instead his secondary lightgreen was turned into his new primary color along with a terrible gray secondary color as majority of the colorscheme. Also the lack of twin sworbs was a letdown. The mask was ok though. Pohatu: First thing noticeable aspect is the pohatu has no brown and tan colors which was integral to his looks. The mixture of orange and gray looks terrible. The other major fault is that his body is a hunchback not instead of being tall and doesn't look like a fast person fitting for a user of kakama mask of speed. The propellers are ok but they flop downwards when closed so you can't pull off drill fists easily. Tahu: No sword, just a terrible spinning shield. The mask looks nothing like a kanohi hau but not the worst of the of the lot. His bright red was turned dark red and his secondary orange color removed in favor of silver, the colorscheme looks terrible. Gali: Obviously she got the worst mask of the lot. Her bulky musclebuilder arms and legs looks odd compared to her old lean swimmer look. She also only has the nynrah ghost blaster with a tiny scope and no melee weapon. Also she has the same problem as Tahu, losing bright blue in favor of navy blue and lightblue was turned into silver looks which terrible. Onua: He's the only one ok on the Mistika side but his lanky fast design is odd look for some who is used to be a hunchback digger. Also he uses a giant grip over his nynrah ghost blaster to hide hide lack of a melee weapon and a shoulder shield with limited poseability.
  18. Very great design. I love how everything is cleverly designed including how obscure pieces a basketball goal and chain and cloth pieces that are so far different are smoothly integrated.
  19. Yes the big mistika shields as leg guards would be a bit clunky.
  20. I prefer Makuta. The unfortunate backlash of his name revealed had a really negative side effect; Greg Farshtey decided the real name of the Shadowed One would never be revealed out of fear of even more backlash.
  21. Yep every hahli mistika has these ocean wave pattern colors.
  22. Sorry if my post counts as a revival but Is there any new update on when the home page with the news will return?
  23. Well i'm not the best at photoshopping. I was in a rush when i googled for caves as i wanted some type of bright cave. Besides there are no generic versions of the mistika canister backgrounds online.
  24. I wanted toa bring Onua Mistika to life based on a drawing made by the owner of the brickshelf account MuffinToa. It's based on his folder Project Nuva. I will not claim all the glory for it. Thanks for the inspiration if you see this. I used Lego program called Studio 2.0. The options are severely limited but i did my best.
