The MOC situation was weird. I've never seen such a low turnout at Brickfair before, and it's been discussed in the backend after the con has ended now too. I've never been able to say Brickcon has a better display based on quality before, because Brickfair normally blows the rest out of the water, but MOC registration and talent was weirdly low this year. Same with public attendance, where we did less than half what we normally do.

 

Just a really weird year.

I am so glad you were there! It was a great time hanging out, and I'm glad you got to see some of us more behind the scenes. We're a rascally group, and I think any idea of us being sticks-in-the-mud or boring rule-obsessed folks is pretty easily shattered in person. We're honestly pretty terrible.

you won't see any friends there. brickfair is done completely blindfolded from the moment you leave your house to get there. it makes driving a real pain.

If you're considering hanging out in a hotel in between, keep in mind there will be a lot more to do in Baltimore than Chantilly. The Inner Harbor is really nice and there's shops and the aquarium. There's also a zoo in Baltimore. All of it is within a pretty reasonable proximity, and there's the light rail if you don't want to walk.

 

Thanks for the tip. If I stay the whole week, I may check some of that stuff out, but ideally I'd prefer to do stuff like that with friends rather than just wandering around on my own.

 

I'm, like, an hour away from Baltimore on a bad day if you need someone to pal around the inner harbor with? And I'm sure Pablo would be willing to come around too.
