  1. Wasn’t that just TSO?It was both actually. If I'm remembering correctly, during the fight Voporak touched Teridax, which aged him 1000 years in a few seconds, but at the very end of the fight, Teridax grabbed and threw TSO into Voporak, and the latter's defensive powers took over and TSO hit the time "force field" surrounding Voporok, aging TSO thousands and thousands of years. So yes TSO did also age, but he aged quite a lot more than Teridax did. I wonder if that was just the right amount of deterioration that allowed for his armor to be destroyed. Though with the weight of the gate, I think it still would have crushed it.I think that was just the result of having a massive piece of solid rock falling on him. Wasn't it metal?
  2. Bionicle as a whole has inspired many of my creative endeavours as a writer. Particularly the 2001-2003 era has inspired the fictional setting I built around my on-going fantasy serial I run on my blog (which I haven't updated in an embarrassing amount of time) which is linked in my sig. I usually say that 2004 was my favorite year and pre-Great Cataclysm Metru Nui is my favorite setting, but the first three years on Mata Nui are the most iconic, most unique era of Bionicle, and the era I am most nostalgic about.
  3. This sort of old Bionicle.com stuff has fascinated me for ages. I have few memories of the 2001-2003 era of the site. I don't want to hijack the thread but since Peri seemingly found what you're looking for, something that has bugged me for a while is this throwaway memory of the site transition between 2005 and 2006. I recall that the 2005 website near the end of the year had on the bottom left corner a count-down with the Voya Nui logo above it. When it hit zero the 2006 website with the Piraka related content went live with a primarily white/light grey colour scheme, but then soon after switched to the black/dark grey colour scheme that it had for the majority of 2006. The wayback machine doesn't seem to corroborate this and only shows the dark colour scheme. Did my mind make up this false memory or what?
  4. Looking through the scans, while some characters are depicted with stills from the film, some of the full body models look a lot less detailed. While likely production assets, the art style and details on them much more resembled the models in Bionicle Heroes rather than the film. Particularly the full body shot of Skrall and Ackar on their respective pages look like they were ripped directly from a Bionicle Heroes-esque game.
  5. I fail to see why so many insist on perpetuating the idea that this forum is dead.
  6. Isn't Lego doing arguably the most to achieve sustainability from the biggest toy companies out there? Sure, maybe they're not quite at the peak of eco-friendliness, but if you want to maintain a facade of this being anything other than a thinly veiled attempt to undermine a competitor (not even, considering how colossally Lego outpaces BioBuddi - I haven't even heard of them before now), then maybe poke at the companies not even trying to achieve sustainability instead of the industry leader in this regard?
  7. This topic pops up every now and then and always gets the same kind of responses, so I'll chip in my 2 cents that I have been every time it came up. Ever since Lego confirmed that G2 wasn't doing bad, it simply wasn't doing good enough, it has become certain that Bionicle is coming back. Lego has insanely high standards for their IP, so turning a profit isn't enough - they need a lot of profit. So if they wanted to kill off Bionicle for good, they wouldn't cancel it a year early, they'd let it run its 3 year course and have the theme go out with a whimper in 2017 never to be heard of again. They pulled the plug in 2016 precisely to save Bionicle, to pull it out of the battlefield when its wounds were not yet fatal. Bionicle wasn't killed in 2016 - it just went back to the drawing board. The problems have been discussed myriad times - poor marketing, poor associated media. If we know this, you can bet Lego does too, meaning they also know that executed well Bionicle can be a powerful IP in the toy industry again. How long will G3 be planned, how long will the IP nurse its wounds? Your guess it as good as mine. It certainly won't be back soon, but it certainly will be back.
  8. The whole "perform at the physical peak of their abilities" is just a technical description of what the user's body does. It's symbolically called the mask of fate because using it allows you to perform seemingly impossible feats that you probably would only manage if it was your 'fate' to do them or if "fate was on your side". You shouldn't take everything too literally I reckon.
  9. Very strong competition here. Cast my vote, best of luck to all!
  10. There would be a bit small, no? Maybe the medium variant of the Mahri blade, used by Hewkii on his shoulders and Solek as weapons to keep the curve. Alternatively, the large Mahri blade used by Hewkii as a weapon could also work.
  11. A relatively obscure FPS from 2007 called Alpha Prime. It's kind of a fast-food game that isn't really going to put players into existential crises by the sheer force of its narrative, nor does it have groundbreaking gameplay, but it has a fun hacking mechanic, nice gunplay and decent visuals for its era. In fact, I kind of prefer there mid-early 3D over today's super detailed, super realistic visuals. It's probably nostalgia, but I'd take a game that looks like Alpha Prime/Jedi Outcast/Half-Life 2 over the latest extremely high graphical fidelity stuff. Voice acting is horrible, though.
  12. This has that kind of early-G1 retro MOC aesthetic that I find particularly charming
  13. ***Built for BBC Contest #76*** The Zoli is a diminutive but dangerous Rahi native to the darkest corners of the Le-Wahi jungle. Comfortable in the undergrowth, in dark caverns or among twisting roots where humidity is trapped, the Zoli relies on two defenses - its highly toxic venom, and its abdomen that resembles the head of a Bohrok. Generally scared of larger creatures, most times when an unfortunate Le-Matoran encounters such a spider, it is a result of mistaking it for a flower due to its colours. Some particularly courageous Matoran have taken to capturing and taming Zoli and keeping them as pets, much to Turaga Matau's chagrin. All comments appreciated.
  14. Honestly? I wouldn't. Make an open-world RPG with today's technology, spanning 2001-2003. Interactive media has been a core part of how Bionicle was shown to the fans from day 1, just think about how iconic MNOG is. A hands-off animation wouldn't have had that kind of power back then, nor would any other passive media have comparable power today.
  15. Entry complete! I can't wait to see what everyone else cooked up. Best of luck to us all!
  16. Hmmmm, I might try my hand at that now that you mention it!
  17. "So what's Autumn like up in Po-Wahi?" "Just like every other season in the desert I guess."
  18. Mazak is a travelling trader. Everything he carries is up for sale or trade. He prefers trading objects instead of selling them, as his goal isn't to get rich, but to experience as many interesting and unique items as possible before swapping them for something else that's new and exciting. He lives by the motto "everything is for sale and everything has a price". A small tablescrap Matoran that grew out of me fiddling with parts to solve an issue that I ultimately didn't, but ended up making a compact custom torso that fit a Matoran build well. 19. A mainly constraction-based reimagining of Uplink from Exo-Force, this moc started out as a revamp of that set. However, as I progressed, I ended up with a general shape and frame that I really liked, but didn't live up to Uplink's proportions or shaping. I ended up keeping Uplink's colour scheme, pilot, weapons and some parts lifted directly from the set, but stuck with these different proportions, making this less of a revamp and more of a reimagining as mentioned earlier. Further pictures on Flickr. Comments and criticism appreciated.
