  1. @Akaku: Master of Flight - oooh, so this is how tagging works. Nice. :D (yeah no worries. I shoud have tagged you, I guess. at least I wanted to. ^^)

Well I am glad that someone sees some improvement there - maybe it's the familiarity, but for me they all look more or less the same  except for the very old ones, maybe.
And oh wow, that comic. That was so long ago... nice to see it again, though. :] I think we've both come a long way...

That's a nice drawing, Taka! Lots of great, strong use of curves in this piece, particularly on the cloth and shoulder pauldrons. The shading on those is really nice as well, I also like the staff and the swept-back look you gave to the spikes on your mask :)

Personally I love seeing people redraw their OC's over the years. not only to see how their character evolves, but to see how far their artwork has come. I myself am rather guilty of drawing my OC way more then I really ought to :P

Aw, thanks! :D Yeah I like using curvy lines, so I'm glad it worked out ^^

oh, that timeline looks cool! Now I also want to make one ^_^ Good idea, actually.

Now this is a blast from the past.

It looks great! I really like how you've drawn the dangling fabric --as someone without much artistic ability, I'm always impressed by people who can draw clothes and cloth realistically.

Also @Akaku: Master of Flight I love that timeline. Great idea to physically show how much your art has improved over the years.

thanks a lot! :D eh, fabrics are still something I need more practise with, but good to know it's working out already ^^

Informatics? Interesting! I was never bad at math back in high school, but I feel like I probably don't have half the brain to handle anything complex enough for that, especially after years of just using calculators :P

Glad to hear that things are looking up for you :) I've been doing alright. I'm actually in a similar boat as you, I just got back to being in college full time after years of only doing continuing studies courses here and there. I Enrolled in an extensive year long program entirely dedicated to all aspects of creating Graphic Novels and Comic Books; It's great so far, I'm learning tons and enjoying it a lot! :D

oh no, calculators D: I had to do most stuff without them in Physics and honestly?, after the initial learning curve it's so much easier. ^^' (but maybe that's because I seem to have a talent for always making mistakes while typing.)

Graphic novels and comic books? That's really cool!

Glad to hear everything's going well. I've been playing Pathfinder as well recently.

Awesome! What's your character like? :D

  4. This feeling. I know it well.

I wish you all the luck, especially if you are venturing out to learn programming. I've tried, one of things that would certainly help me, but I just can't wrap my head around it.

    Thanks! (I'll need it ^^)

Where do you live? I'm currently attending one of the top five IT programs in the country, and we're not doing any programming, because there are many other jobs in the IT sector that don't require that specific knowledge - at least in this area. The program's rate of employment upon graduation is 98 percent, BTW.

Well that's really cool for you! I know some people who are studying informatics here, and I see them doing an awful lot of programming, also with different languages and stuff, so I think I'd get the necessary practise. :) (I mean, I am capable of basic programming and scripting stuffs, but I'd love to acquire proper skills.)

I feel similar to this. I would have to aim to become a professor in history, and I am not sure if I want to teach for a living, and considering my specialties (medieval and late antiquity history) it may be too 'controversial' and I may have to both fight the system while working just so I can teach. I have other skills, but not only am I not sure if anyone ahs use for them, but also seeing how volatile society is becoming and confusing  propaganda lies I see through just makes me want to retreat into a cabin where I would grow for my own food and medicine, and live near a small town for necessary purchases.

I feel you. Living in a cabin somewhere removed from everything sounds like a great plan... also, might work with some art freelancing, as long as I have some sort of internet access... ^^

  5. Hey, long time no see! :)

I draw too, though increasingly I don't know what to draw. Last full on drawing was of Manuel I Comnenus. Have any ideas? Been drawing ideas on folks with horns/antlers or headgear with horns/antlers, nothing too definitive. Mostly inspired byvideos from this live concert

Hm. Well there are a few things you can do!

Whenever I feel stuck I normally try and use the time for practising - e.g. draw hands/feet (from memory, then from reference, then I compare them and see where my construction goes wrong).

Alternatively, you can switch up the media you use - sometimes that brings new ideas.

What I also found challenging (positively) was asking someone, like a family member, for a drawing prompt. Online prompts never worked for me, but this version does.

On topic: you could set yourself a design challenge - draw a demon with antlers, but keep the rest of the design as little clichè as possible. :)

Maybe some of this helps. If not, don't despair, just keep at it, eventually you will get back into "the zone". ^_^

  6. Any period in history that fascinates you?

Hard to choose - guess the Renaissance (especially art-wise) and the Middle Ages.

Not to this day I haven't. Unless you count demon sheep o.o

Not a farm animal, but I had a nightmare that has stuck with me to this day.

When I was a child, i had a nightmare about my dad sitting in his chari and staring at the TV on static while my little brother played with alphabet wooden blocks, Then form the static TV a 3 foot tall demonic echidna with a razor-toothed ant-eater mouth climbed out of the TV screen and glitched over to my brother and began stabbing him with his long claws and biting him. I ran over to my screaming brother to get the creature off of him, but the spikes on its back cut my hands bad and i screamed at my dad to help, but he just sat there staring at the TV static, and then the dream ended.

    Okay that's pretty scary. :fear:

With the obligatory out of the way: Cat person, or dog person?

    - :burnmad:

Reptiles More of a cat person. I tend to be scared of dogs, unless they're like, reeeeally small ^^'
