  1. Guardians, Captain America: The First Avenger and the The Avengers are probably my favorite films in the franchise so far, though I don't really dislike any of them. (though I fell asleep towards the end of Hulk, so, uh, who knows?) In general I think that the fact that something like this is happening, let along working so well, is astounding and I love it, though I'm not a comics fan. the one-shots have been pretty interesting. The shows, too...Agents of Shield is fun even if not really that great. I haven't gotten the chance to watch Agent Carter yet but I hope to sometime soonish. The Netflix series..I was so hyped when I first learned those were happening, since the format allows for much more freedom than you'd find on television....and with Daredevil being as fantastic as it was I really can't wait for the rest, Iron Fist in particular I'm excited for. It should be great. Hopefully I can watch Age of Ultron before too long. I didn't get to see Winter Soldier last year in theaters. Unavoidably I got spoiled to heck and back and I think that really impacted my enjoyment of the film in the end, so I really hope I can avoid that for the MCU this year. Also, I hope Ant-Man will be up to snuff.
  2. I don't really take issue with his actions as much as what they represent about his development, personally. After Fire & Ice Finn had been in a sort of downward spiral of depression and self-indulgence trying to get back on his feet in the wrong ways. And all that was only compounded when he met his father and lost his arm. His going around trying to make his flower feel good just sees him slink down to what is probably his rock bottom thus far. It's not, like, bad necessarily in a moral sense I guess, but the whole numbness and depression he was working through was a tad too bleak and dark and somewhat twisted for my tastes for this show. And then there's the end where he is deflowered literally and possibly figuratively as well...that is part of a larger trend where Adventure Time is scared of changing the status quo for more than a little while, so we see Finn get his arm back like nothing, and...well, the other thing. It's a weird episode.
  3. I was honestly not super satisfied with the way the relationships end up but it's probably my one notable criticism, it's really a very good series.

    Obnoxious Text

I was mainly referring to like, Gamzee (wHo DoEs ThIs ThInG) and Kanaya (Who Does This Other Thing), though then there's also your Mituna... Caliborn's way of talking is great though.

  6. I don't mean to be disrespectful, but I really don't see how the fact that Jake and Lady Rainicorn (who are adults, and have been in a steady, committed relationship for at least five years now) had children out of wedlock makes it inappropriate for kids? They're a couple and then they had children. That is something that happens in real life, you know? A lot of kids nowadays grow up in situations like that. It's not really a bad or a good thing, it's just a thing. In any case there certainly is no denying that Adventure Time pushes the envelope farther and farther as time goes on. The episode Breezy, for instance, had some really, uh. Suggestive themes and scenes? Let's call them that, for lack of a better way to describe it considering that this is BZP. Or you have your Lemongrab episodes from late season 5, what with the cannibalism and dictatorship and...yeah. It's a whole thing. It's odd, but it comes with the territory of AT being the kind of show it is--that is, one about Finn's maturation (in real time, even. Dude was a quirky innocent 12 year old when the thing started, but he's grown (or fallen, depends on the perspective) into a more...troubled, conflicted 17 year old) as well as the development of a lot of other also rather troubled characters and also one about exploring why and how Ooo even exists. It's not all great. I'm really not a huge fan of the darker tone the series took in late season 5, with stuff like Breezy and Too Old being some of my least favorite episodes. But even with all these weird more "mature" themes and things in the show, I wouldn't exactly say it's not "meant" for kids. The reason AT is still alive and thriving is that it is popular with its target demographic because it is a zany, fun show to watch even superficially. Cartoons have never shied away from having more adult themes in them that younger viewers can probably not fully appreciate (but that may entice older viewers to tune in). Adventure Time is less restrained with this than some, but not to an extent that makes it isolate its target audience. It's still popular with its target demographic of 8-12 year olds, and it's still popular with its periphery demographics. I'd say that's sort of a win-win.
  7. It's not a rumor, for whatever reason Target has/had Onua and Gali on clearance. I can't remember any other specific sales or anything though.
  8. 1. ben 10 cosplay 2. boycott lego. always a failsafe move 3. get amnesia? 4. eat the one i hate 5. but, um, where. where does the hero factory fit in this, are they going to arrest you for betraying me? 6. do the sunglasses have a chance of exploding too 7. the guy i hate from question 4
  9. Yeah, the delay on Tri is pretty disappointing! People are speculating that it'll start once DBZ Kai ends, since apparently that's taking up Digimon's old timeslot. Which could take a month or two, apparently. I guess I don't mind a delay as long as they don't pull a Crystal on us. I really can't wait for Tri, man... Anyway, ohhh boy Ore Monogatari!! is just too good. We do not deserve it. Great characters, lots of progress in just the first three episodes, and it's a blast to watch. If it keeps this up it'll end up one of the best things I've ever watched. I swear, it's getting there.
  10. Another one? The last AT thread was posted last month, so it's still alive. And no, it is far from the weirdest show on Earth. It is weird, however.
  11. This really is pretty cool, actually. Great, varied functions...creepy, but cool stuff. Kinda wish they had actually come out, actually...
  12. 1.This uncertainty is killing me 2. Make fun of its name 3. I don't! It had a good run, up until i accidentally destroyed it I guess, also I'd be dead 4. They don't have legs, but I do, this is a problem that solves itself. 5. Fail to make any heads or tails from this nonsense. 6. Find the red dragon and ask what's the deal dude. 7. With a sendificator 8. Start singing awful jpop at the top of my lungs 9. Convince them all that Gali's better than either anyway. 10. UTAHRAPTOR 11. Nickel 12. Kanohi Kohii, the Mask of Coffee 13. Sad and patheric 14. Just be myself 15. FUSE THEM INTO AN UNHOLY MIX OF MACHINE AND, UH, OTHER MACHINE 16. I guess so
  13. I don't read Naruto and never have so I can't say much about that. But I'm really all just I, uh, I like him.
  14. I finished watching Wooser's Hand to Mouth Life last night. The second season was better than the first, but just, barely. Mainly I blame Darth Wooser? And some other stuff. ED was pretty nice I guess. And I suppose I got one amazing wallpaper out of it so that's cool. All in all it was pretty mediocre still, just a couple of chuckles here and there, guess the final episode was ok? Anyway, if the trend of slow improvement continues, season 3 this summer should be almost ok. Also I got through Another finally. It's really the first horror anime I've watched (though I have seen some others with horror elements? Like, Elfen Lied at the least. Does Parasyte count? Probably not.) and to my surprise I actually ended up enjoying it quite a lot in the end. The last 3 or so episodes really got me engaged and episode 11 in particular was just. Bonkers. I think this is the first time I've really even begun to understand the appeal of the horror genre. Anyway, yeah, it was pretty good. The OVA was also pretty alright, the kamikaze bird fakeout was...I don't know? Funny, trollish, brilliant, sad? It was something. Whole thing was kind of sad. Good, though. Also I started reading Oyasumi Punpun and I'm like a dozen chapters in and it's...I don't even know how to describe it properly honestly. this mangaka has a really interesting style both as far as the art and the writing is concerned, I'm not sure how much I'm liking it (loved his Dead Dead Demon's Dededededestruction, which has raised my expectations) but it's interesting as heck.
  15. The Ninjago show is the best we've seen from Lego and, for what it is, it's certainly great, but it's far from what I'd consider an amazing series. It can be somewhat hit or miss (season 2 being probably the best/worst example), its quality is not as consistent as I would like, and the backstory and setting's history is almost as contradictory and oft-retconned as I would consider it convoluted. I'm not saying this is necessarily bad for the show (not always anyway), because they manage to make it work, but still, it's certainly flawed. Considering how many great cartoons there are out there, as much as I do generally enjoy the Ninjago show (this last season in particular was really good) I can't really justify giving it high praise. Of course, that being said, it would be good if the movie drew from some of the strongest traits of the series. The soundtrack, for instance, is one of the best things about the series and the movie would do well to take cues from it for atmosphere.
  16. Huh. That's weird. I would have thought that they'd save a second season (if it were to happen) for after the Defenders series came out. Man, Daredevil is gonna end up just like Iron Man. Second installment before the team-up, probably going to stay as the main character the whole way through....not that I'm complaining! I still haven't finished the first season, but it's pretty great so far. I'm glad that it is doing well enough to warrant a second season already.
  17. I really can't think of any way in which a movie related to a show that is now, what, 5 years old, (and will be 7 when the movie actually comes out) would be a good idea. Most moviegoers will not be familiar at all with the Ninjago show, so that'd be alienating a ton of people from the get go. And the characters in the show are already pretty well defined and have all gone through their arcs and will probably continue to do so, leaving the movie less room to move the characters around. And honestly I'd much rather see a fresh take on the story than just use the show's universe. (which is already kind of convoluted and will probably continue to get even more so) It's not like the show is even that amazing, so the movie being related to it wouldn't necessarily even be assurance that it'd be for the better. So no, I'm really pretty ok with it being its own thing.
  18. Cad Bane. Cad Bane, man. CCBS hat? Please? Yes, please.
  19. I hadn't heard much good about FOP for a while now. I am surprised it even lasted this long, I used to watch it so much back in elementary school...dang, that was forever ago. Anyway the insinuation that Nick hasn't had a good cartoon in 11 years seems to be oddly ignoring both Avatar: The Last Airbender and Legend of Korra so???? Gonna have to disagree with that one. Other than that though yeah I guess so.
  20. More or less, I think I had always seen them described as being around 7 feet tall, which is just over 2 meters.

    Regarding name changes

I remember that like the first time I changed my name I misspelled it. Fun times. Fun times. Changing names a bunch is fun though, I can understand never sticking with anything for too long.
  22. It is. Basically this was a gag tumblr kept by some of the people behind the shows 9anonymously, I believe people just thought it was a fan thing), in which he posted his gemsona a while ago. Then it showed up in the show, revealing the truth of it all. I think it is hilarious.
  23. Well, technically Paula, Haru and Yuu have shown up in the anime before...but only in the third OVA, so that's...kind of out of chronology, not that it makes much of a difference.
  24. The tv short series Fireball Charming served as a pretty masterful prequel to the earlier Fireball series, I think... This doesn't count for much, granted, since the Fireball series has like 2 minute episodes and it's a comedy, so the rules of the game are just completely different, but still. Charming set up and explained a lot of the jokes in the original series in really hilarious ways. It is pretty prominent example in my mind of a good prequel. Just, extremely obscure.
