Popular Post ToM Dracone Posted October 18, 2014 Popular Post Posted October 18, 2014 Now that I've had a chance to sit down and play with some of the 2015 Bionicle parts I got from New York Comic Con, here is a thing that uses a few of them! I was fiddling with Onua's mask and the purple/trans-purple pieces I picked up and decided to build Onepu. Except, of course, the new Pakari doesn't come in purple, so I had to figure out other ways to make his head primarily purple like it used to be. (click for Flickr gallery) Ended up deciding, after his head went the direction it did, that this Onepu is a chieftain of the village of Earth on Okoto. He wears the mask of a Skull Spider on his shoulder as a trophy of battle. Also where I realized just how few Hero Factory parts I really have. Maybe need to fix that. (Also also, hello everyone! It is nice to finally have something to post here again.) 35 Quote This is old.
Paleo Posted October 18, 2014 Posted October 18, 2014 Glad to see you back, and what a beaut! Wonderful work on this little guy. The headdress is both fitting and majestic, and I love the feet. They carry a very Tohunga vibe. The hips might be an area to work on, though I'm not quite sure how to do it without messing with the great body construction you have. Overall – pretaaaaaay good. ~kh Posted October 18, 2014 Posted October 18, 2014 I love this. Smaller, but a lot of attention to detail. My first foray into any type of MOCing began only with the 2015 bag of parts I got, so it's nice to see what someone can do with them. I'm mostly amazed as to how you got the Skull Spider mask to fit on something that wasn't the head. I couldn't figure that out for the life of me. (Then again, I guess that's not saying all too much.) That headdress is also really, really cool. Those purple wings weren't part of the 2015 parts, were they? I'd hate to have missed those in the rush. 1 Quote
Tuuli Posted October 18, 2014 Posted October 18, 2014 I love this guy! Makes me excited for the new bionicle! Good pieces you have here Quote
Toa Green Ninja Posted October 18, 2014 Posted October 18, 2014 Wow, this is a neat take on Onepu! I nearly forgot about that guy. And if he's the chieftain, then what is the Protector of Fire now? At NYCC, the team said that Protectors fill the role of chiefs/elders in the story, almost like Turaga, but more like fighters. Quote "We didn't lose the battle. They'll lock in place if they're axle holes and swing loosely if they're pins. It's pretty neat. And thank you! The wings I got in a Chima set I picked up randomly earlier this year, but they're also in the purple Mixels. Edited October 18, 2014 by ToM Dracone 1 Quote This is old.

I kinda figured they would fit onto a glatorian head (of which I have plenty), but I cannot wait to try it out myself.[/offtopic] I really like the MOC, It definitely gives the feel of a 'turaga' Onepu, and the colors blend really nicely. He gives the impression of a leader, and the whole MOC works smoothly. Great work! Quote
Kex Posted October 18, 2014 Posted October 18, 2014 I always liked your simplicity and excellent photography, ToM. I haven't been around in ages but stumbled upon this and had to click... "ooohh, I remember him!" 1 Quote
randomreviewerbros Posted October 18, 2014 Posted October 18, 2014 (edited) I think you did a great job building Onepu with ccbs, really like the way you used the new Pakari with the purple highlight above it, its a very creative use of the mask. Plus using the Skull Spider Mask on the arm was a great use of that part too! Overall great job!How many other 2015 parts did you have left over after building that? Munty Posted October 18, 2014 Posted October 18, 2014 I love this, it's a fantastic recreation of something old in a new medium. I think this looks so much better than the protectors we're getting and I'm sure it would probably provide us with a better story too (though hopefully not!) It's really great to see a return of the old turaga, even though it's not canon, and I'd love a set like this for myself. Only if you can do the other five too though Quote Check out my Bionicle store on Bricklink here!> > > Bionic Bricks < < < Let me know if you can help me find these last few collectibles! Also looking for WILD KRAATA and a VMKK Yo!!!
Lyichir Posted October 18, 2014 Posted October 18, 2014 This is a really neat MOC! I love how you managed to add enough purple to it to make it resemble Onepu. My only complaint would be that I don't really like the somewhat messy look of the torso. I get that you seem to have been going for a "greebled" look but I don't know if I'd say it works all that well. Quote Formerly Lyichir: Rachira of Influence Aanchir's and Meiko's brother

Space: Ocean of Awe Posted October 18, 2014 Posted October 18, 2014 That is awesome. I really love the headdress and the feet, which harken back to those old feet. Gotta love Onepu! Turns out the new masks will fit neatly onto any piece that's two studs wide with either axle or pin holes on each end. They'll lock in place if they're axle holes and swing loosely if they're pins. It's pretty neat.My suspicions were confirmed! I'm so happy that they aren't going to be utterly useless to MOCists. =) 1 Quote "Baby, in the final analyses, love is power. Mr. Cup of Fail Posted October 19, 2014 Posted October 19, 2014 (edited) The body on this MOC is not good and it looks really odd, I think giving him a different body and give him like the black star foot as the chest would look a lot better. The head is great looking like the use of those purple wing pieces but I think it would be more on a toa size MOC then a Matoran size in my opinion and last the feet looks pretty good looking. I may make my own Onepu when I get the new sets when they come out or make like a 2015 Jaller or Matoro. Sumiki Posted October 20, 2014 Posted October 20, 2014 The tribal vibe of this Onepu is just awesome. The way you've emulated the McToran feet with new parts is quite clever. From the side, there's a gap between the trans-purple leg and the foot that I find a little troubling, but that's only from that one angle. I have to say, that little gear made me squee a little inside. Quote avatar by Lady Kopaka
Manducus Posted October 22, 2014 Posted October 22, 2014 Very, very odd. I love it! He oddly reminds me of the Prophets from Halo. Quote
Nidhiki of the Shadows Posted October 22, 2014 Posted October 22, 2014 (edited) Beautiful! Love the purple headdress. Loved Onepu's colours before, still love em now. Purple is awesome. The Meta Knight Posted October 26, 2014 Posted October 26, 2014 I love this MOC. It reminds me so much of the original Onepu. I love the staff. It was a really nice touch. The headpiece looks great with the 2015 Pakari as well. But above all, the feet are what make the MOC. They so perfectly replicate the McToran feet, only in modern form. I mean, really! People! Look at those GOSH DARN FEET! I think I'm gonna cry... This is so perfectly Onepu... Onepu is the first one that comes to mind when people mention the McToran. This is simply perfect! Well done, sir! Quote Stay vigilant, my friends.
Mysterious Minifig Posted October 27, 2014 Posted October 27, 2014 I like how you built this one. I can definitely see the inspiration from the original Onepu. I agree with a few of the previous commentors, that the head dress might be a little too big. It looks cool, but the size compared to the rest of the body is just a little too big. The rest of it looks really and I like the way the feet try to imitate the original feet. Quote
skratchR Posted November 4, 2014 Posted November 4, 2014 Whoa! It's great! I actually like it better than the official 2015 sets... I really like the feeling of a wise warrior it gives off. Quote
LockmanCapulet Posted November 4, 2014 Posted November 4, 2014 Very nice! You definitely capture that "chieftain" vibe. Quote
Guest Posted November 4, 2014 Posted November 4, 2014 It manages to both capture his original character and make him fit into the new theme. The headdress is also a very clever way of emulating a purple Pakari. Quote
Prehistoric_Echoes Posted November 4, 2014 Posted November 4, 2014 Congrats on making the Main Page! I really like the head design. It establishes a sort of tribal feel similar to what we got from the Mask of Creation, and is a good way to incorporate purple into the MOC's scheme. Any chance we'll see more Matoran get revamps like this? 1 Quote Prehistoric_Echoes -[|]- DeviantArt: http://prehistoricechoes.deviantart.com/ Custom Bionicle Wiki: http://custombionicle.wikia.com/wiki/User:Echo_1 Young Writer's Society: http://www.youngwriterssociety.com/profile/PrehistoricEchoes
Mallow Toa of Smashing Posted November 4, 2014 Posted November 4, 2014 Very cool. I like the headdress, and the fact that there's so much purple. Quote >tfw you have no idea what to put here
Tiakor Posted November 5, 2014 Posted November 5, 2014 Nice job! This MOC shows the tribal feelings that the 2001 story was trying to convey shown in parts form.I also like the creative use of purple for the head as a substitute for the old purple Pakari that Onepu originally had. 1 Quote Seems legit. Who wants to play Kolhii?
Naota Takizawa Posted November 5, 2014 Posted November 5, 2014 I like the MOC, it's a good use of old and new parts but the feathered headdress is unfitting for an earth matoran in my opinion. Ektris Posted November 10, 2014 Posted November 10, 2014 I really like how you recreated the classic foot design; for some reason, they're probably my favorite part. But I also like how you made the best of what's available to give him some purple around the mask, despite the limitations of the new mask itself not being in that color. All in all, it's a nice little guy you got here, Tom. ~|ET|~ Quote E-T... Phone home. "He walks among us, but he is not one of us."
Zaxvo Posted November 11, 2014 Posted November 11, 2014 The headdress is great and I love the old rahkshi staff. I'm not a big fan of the thighs, however. The color stands out and they're too thin. Quote . {Z}
TheBolderBoulder Posted November 11, 2014 Posted November 11, 2014 Very cool! I'm looking forward to these new Bionicle sets! Quote
