IC: Deadeye

Feeling the hilt of Shank, Deadeye grinned. "You see, my heroic friend, I did not aprieciate what you did to me in the infirmary. But I am more unappreciative of your friend who came along. And so my plan is, maybe I could get revenge on both of you with one operation." Deadeye laughed again.

This... trickster was the Rahkshi he had interrogated in the Infirmary? And he was seeking revenge? Well, Root was not going to give in so easily!

"F-f-face me, th-th-then! W-w-we will s-s-see who w-w-will f-f-fall in c-c-combat!"

There was the plant he was looking for. With a quick tap, Root's armor began to glow slightly, just enough to reveal the Laser Vision Rahkshi among the bookshelves. With a flick of the wrist, he sent a vine whip slicing towards his foe.

"Oh I'm here to learn." Deadeye grinned. Hopefully learn about a Kraata's insides. The whip whooshed towards him but he jumped to the next shelf, out of the way. He pounced on Root, Shank and Stab facing towards the vigilante.

Root rolled out of the way, his arm already growing a small shield of thick bark. With the hand, he grasped the tip of his staff, and thorny vines began to grow around the seed pods. If this one wanted to bring injury, he would receive some.

Root jumped forward to meet him, the shield positioned to catch the knife, and his staff swinging towards his foe's face, the thorns still growing to their full size.

"Okay, if you're sure..." Era said uncertainly, a she and Hoto reached the sandy shores of the mainland. "Let's not go anywhere near the village," she suggested to the group, "Mahrika, can you please take us to the exact spot where you saw these Visorak."

The power in his swing left Root reeling, and as he stumbled for a moment, he felt a knife embed in his back. The various plants tangled there prevented most of the damage, but it still hurt. This Rahkshi was quick, so Root would have to be quicker. He twirled backwards, the staff swinging at his opponent once more, while his other hand pressed to his side, growing another plant there.

IC: Hoto - Causeway

When Hoto reached Nynrah, she was disappointed to see someone beat her. She was fast, but the slip must have slowed her down. She would have to be more careful.

She stood with the others and waited for Mahrika to catch up and tell them where to go.

His swing missed again, but his next attack wasn't grown yet. He turned the miss into another twirl, then backed away for a bit more time. He taunted the Rahkshi with his staff, just asking for them to charge and do something foolish. His attacks weren't hitting, but as soon as this scoundrel slipped, he would be ready.

Root completed his turn to see a fist coming for his face. He stumbled backwards as it impacted, nearly dropping his next plant in the progress. He could recover, except the books still lay on the ground, and he tripped over them, collapsing on the ground. One plant was almost ready, but with his other hand he frantically searched for something to get him away or back up. He had dropped his staff as he instinctively tried to catch himself.

He slammed backwards into the books at the impact, his faceplate denting under the foot. Before his foe could get in another strike, Root whipped out another vine and threw it back to tangle around a bookshelf. He gave it a hard yank, and his body slid out of the way, hopefully far enough to at least stand.

At last, he was ready to reveal what he'd been growing. His hand flew forwards, flinging out a wide net of vines to tangle his foe.

Just try to evade that! He thought, triumphantly.

Still, he had a large and heavy Rahkshi falling towards him, so Root rolled out of the way again and got to his feet for the final blow.

Before his foe could rise, Root started forward to bash him into unconsciousness with the blunt end of his staff. There was no need to grow more plants. This would be over quickly.

Of course, how could he forget the laser vision powers? Before he could deliver another attack, his vision was suddenly lit up by the light, and he stumbled forwards, tripping over the prone body of his enemy. He blinked to try and clear away the spots, but he knew he would be vulnerable for the moment. He curled up and grasped his sides. The plants covering his body began to swell and grow, providing a bit more cover while his vision returned, but limiting his movement.

IC Kat:

I hope they'll be okay. But, as it was, someone had to keep an eye on Omega and Fang.

Even if said person was still recovering from a head wound.

The plants protected him from the worst of the impact, but stars still flashed before his eyes.

Get up and fight like a hero! You cannot perish under this unworthy hand!

But in his covering, he could do little more than roll. So he did, back and forth, trying to prolong his fate while he thought of a plan.

Root could feel the knife sliding off his armor and knew it was time for drastic measures. If he didn't act soon, he would perish.

"A h-h-hero n-n-never s-s-surrenders!" He cried from inside the shell. His arms reached around in the small amount of room he had, but at last he grasped what he was looking for. With a burst of power, thorns erupted from the plants around him to impale the hand stabbing at him.

Root could only feel a dull thumping through the plants as his attacker continued to punch him. The thorns and the shell were a temporary solution. He needed to find a way to break free and finish this fight in a glorious way! He began to roll faster off to the side, the remaining thorns slicing through the air as his shell withered away. With his limbs free, he tried to push himself up again.

Root saw his foe approaching as he turned and just kept rolling... into a bookcase. It was now or never. He could no longer play evasive. His staff was gone, but he still had several salvageable plants. He reached a hand back to pop oven his Kraata case and pulled out a gnarled and twisted vine. As he yanked on it, small bulbs began to take form along its length. He could win this, he just needed time. He stooped down into a battle stance, ready to jump out of the way of a knife strike.

Root was momentarily confused, but he knew that an unseen enemy was even more dangerous than a seen one, and he had to remain calm and find them before they found him. The vine had sprouted several small buds, and he ripped it off into one hand. With the other, he lit up his armor again to provide better visibility, then grew another shield. At least this disappearance had given him time to recover.

Ah, the villain's first mistake: speaking while hiding. No villain could resist the urge to reveal their plans to the hero, even in such an unwitting manner as this! Without thinking or taking the time to respond, Root swung his vine towards the voice, the bulbs flying off to deliver their poison. Given time, the poison could render a victim unable to walk for days, but Root didn't have time, so a bit of nausea would have to be sufficient. He stepped forwards and raised his shield to ward off any incoming blows before responding. No battle was complete without some heroic banter!

"Y-y-you are unw-w-worthy of m-m-my heroics, D-D-Deadeye! P-p-playing at v-v-villainy when y-y-you're j-j-just a c-c-coward!"
