Xboxtravis
This summer wave has two great mysteries to speculate on; why is Umarak now the Destroyer, and why is Ekimu so big??? For that I decided we could use with a speculation thread to postulate fanon ideas up until Lego reveals the answers. To start the speculation here is one of my wacky ideas: Ekimu's size boost is due to wearing Umarak's mask; which turns red and black after he wears it. The Mask of Control begins to glow with Ekimu's new powers. Now it is your turn! What crazy ideas do you have about Ekimu and Umarak the Destroyer? Quote All aboard the hype train! Zeb
I think Ekimu's tall form is some sort of temporary elemental Ninjago-NRG-like form, hence the large amounts of transparent light blue everywhere on his set. As for Umarak the Destroyer, I assume that as some sort of twisted consequence of wearing the Mask of Control, Umarak LOSES his own self-control and transforms into a chaotic beast of some sort that's out of control. Maybe he couldn't handle the Mask of Control's powers or perhaps the mask had been corrupted by Makuta or some other force/substance/etc. Or maybe the mutation occured with no relation to the Mask of Control being on Umarak's face. Who knows? The 1st Shadow
The fact that Ekimu is now all blue and transparent is because he's a Force Ghost. Umarak kills him and his spirit returns to haunt the Hunter and guide the Toa. Umarak manages to capture all the creatures and the Mask of Control. He channels their powers into himself and fuses with the Mask, causing him to grow in strength and size. Also, the new villains are actually the elemental creatures, fused into half as many beings (Ikir and Ketar are fused into the Lava Beast, Melum and Akida are blended into Storm Beast, and Terak and Uxar are made into Quake Beast) by Umarak in his attempt to control them. MrSciFiGuy
I think Ekimu being "tall" is a temporary thing, unless we get some sort of reveal that he is a Turaga essentially and got powered up. As for Umarak the Destroyer, Makuta probably lets him use the MoC with grave consequences to Umarak and becomes a beast himself. Dont feel like its the kinda thing that just "knocking off his mask" will fix. Aanchir
For Ekimu, I was almost thinking less "force ghost" and more "giant spirit form" (like in the Legend of Korra season two finale). However, if that were the case, it's unclear whether it'd be a permanent or temporary transformation. I'd probably make it temporary, because I'd kind of prefer that Ekimu continue to play the role of a mentor to the Toa rather than their physical equal, but permanent might make more sense so that if Ekimu continues to appear in the 2017 story he won't be represented by a two-year-old set (Mask Maker vs. Skull Grinder). I don't know what the red and black hunter mask in the new Ekimu set represents, but I very strongly doubt that Ekimu wears it. For Umarak, I was thinking the power of the Mask of Control simply overwhelms him and causes him to transform into Umarak the Destroyer. That seems to make the most sense since Umarak the Destroyer seems to be wearing a new, more bestial form of the Mask of Control. 1 Quote Latest MOC: PAIGE (Prototype Artificial Intelligence, Gynoid Expression)
Xboxtravis
I sure hope Ekimu's transformation is temporary too. Toa Imrukii
Ekimu's now a Toa, case closed. The Mask of Control allows Umarak to not only control others and things, but also to change his physical form. bohrokman
one of my theorys for this wave was that umarak was just an jungle or earth villager who liked to adventure he had heard rumors of an ancient maze that hid a great treasure so he took it upon himself to beat the maze. The maze is intact powered by the mask of control and Umarak is slowly becoming mutated and addicted to the mask power he finally finds the mask and the MOUP awaits his arrival the mask tells him he could have unlimited power and riches beyond imagining if only he would go on a quest to take down the creatures he is further mutated and is equipped with armor and weapons drawing power from the mask of control. He then names himself Umarak For the summer wave I think that he has succeeded in capturing the creatures and they have fused within the shadow traps into three separate beasts, the MOUP is pleased and rewards Umarak with the full power of the mask of control the mask fuses with him and he turns into Umarak the destroyer and the MOUP sends him on a final quest to destroy the toa then full power will be his. The MOUP security has plans to take over powered Umarak body and retrieve all of the masks of power(creation time, toa masks). Umarak uses the beasts and ends up capturing the toa- end 2016, 2017 toa are in captivity MOUP has mask of time and has fused with umarak, he sets out to defeat ekimu and gain the mask of creation, while the toa are locked up they are turned into hordika like toa (2017 winter wave) and escape (includes summer wave of 2017 bad guys somehow) then the toa battle their way against the bad guys escape and 2018 is the final battle. Zidonaro
Ekimu could easily rebuild himself to get bigger since he has de MoC, and he probably transformed the Toa to their Uniter forms thro the same way. Umarak probably unleashed some mega evil power and turned into a beast, or the hunter form is just a façade. But my best thought as to what happened to him is that the Mask of creation was too powerful to him, and as he tried to used it, it went out of control, transforming him in that... thing. Toa Azarius
There are two theories to explain the beasts. 1. Umarak corrupted three of the captured Creatures and they stole the Toas masks OR 2. The Toa lost, and Umarak fused the Toa and Creatures together as some kind of sick thought of Unity. The second one kind of makes the most sense to me. 1 Quote Link to how Azi looks(UPDATED): https://drive.google.com/file/d/0B4Hh1oWv0PcbLWVKdnpaT1hZeFk/view?usp=drivesdk Also, because THEMESONG:

Nidhiki of the Shadows
Umarak can easily be explained by a transformation instigated by the Mask of Control. I mean, we've had that kind of explanation before in Bionicle. As for Ekimu, might just be temporary. I like your idea though, it really integrates the extra mask that comes with Ekimu well. Interesting to think Umarak has gone from Villain to "Slave of the Villain" so quickly. I didn't like most of "Journey to One;" (that dialoge was horrible!) but I did like the 'reveal' of Umarak the Destroyer... It really seemed a lot more evil and mystical than anything else the series gave us. Quote All aboard the hype train!

Tahu3.0
I think Ekimu dies in the theoretical Toa battle against Umarak and when Umarak comes back stronger in his summer 2016 form and is with his Beasts destroying the Toa Ekimus mask flyes from a pedistal turns translucent and creates a titan body and he fights Umarak while the toa try to defeat the creatures. Junior Shark
Umarak puts on the MoCo, and his individual will is lost in the mask's/Makuta's.
