Rahkshi Kal Posted October 20, 2011 Posted October 20, 2011 (edited) If anyone's interested, Lulu is being streamed online on the official site for the whole project. Edited October 20, 2011 by Rahkshi Kal Quote "Be quiet! Do you wanna wake the whole planet?!" "...I do."

Laughing Man Posted October 20, 2011 Author Posted October 20, 2011 Oh god, I suffered through that album stream. Wrote a scathing review/rant on another site.Long story short: Terrible album, avoid at all costs. Quote

Rahkshi Kal Posted October 20, 2011 Posted October 20, 2011 I didn't find it TOO horrible. I do think Metallica should've saved a lot of the instrumental parts for their own music (Mistress Dread sounds like early Metallica), but I stick by with what I said before. It's interesting to hear Reed's vocals on this type of music. Quote "Be quiet! Do you wanna wake the whole planet?!" "...I do."

-Blank- Posted October 21, 2011 Posted October 21, 2011 Lulu is discussing. Lou Reed is a joke. His singing was torture to listen to. Metallica haven't done anything good since And Justice For All anyways. Quote

pls respond Posted October 21, 2011 Posted October 21, 2011 because it was an awful album? that's pretty much grounds to not like something. granted i've never been much of a metallica fan anyway but even by their standards it sucked. Quote

How?it felt like they were trying to bring back their "classic" sound, which would be good except it lacked that spark that the old albums had. it felt like imitation metallica as opposed to the actual thing. Rarity Posted October 21, 2011 Posted October 21, 2011 I will admit, they don't seen as "lively" as they used to. I think it's because Hett can't scream anymore. Quote >Not reading the first greentext story on BZP >2013 Be a cool kid and vote for mighty morphin'
pls respond Posted October 21, 2011 Posted October 21, 2011 that really wasn't the main problem to me, but that was an issue. alsoooooo anyone here love After the Burial as much as i do? In Dreams is so great, and they were fantastic when i saw them on the all-stars tour. shame i missed them when they came through here with veil of maya and within the ruins, two other bands i love a whole lot Quote

Just look at how much attention they tried to get off the album. And not to mention, many of the songs used formula of 80s Metallica songs. Hanako Herupa Posted October 23, 2011 Posted October 23, 2011 What...no Bionic Jive? Yes, I know it's rap metal, but it holds a certain charm and is honestly the best metal band I have heard. Armageddon Through Your Speakers is one of my favorite albums, I know. Apparently Passion over Politics is even harder than Armageddon Through Your Speakers. Quote
pls respond Posted October 23, 2011 Posted October 23, 2011 just listened to them it was kind of gross, no offense they've got skill and all but it's just not my cup of tea also i'd probably classify it as more of a rap rock album than rap metal, it didn't sound like it was very metal-ish Quote
Hanako Herupa Posted October 23, 2011 Posted October 23, 2011 Understandable, personally I would throw Rage Against The Machine in the Rap Rock genre. I mean which song did you listen to, cause I tried to classify "I Shot Lucifer" as rap rock myself, but honestly it sounds too metal to me. Anyways my knowledge of Metal only really scratches the surface, I originally I hated it, thought it was the worst genre, but after a couple listens the genre grew on me thanks to my best friend. Apparently Soil is like five different types of metal and I've listened to only one nonpoint song, which apparently qualifies as alternative metal. Any good bands beside the obvious choices? Quote
Ghostie Posted October 24, 2011 Posted October 24, 2011 Gonna listen to Lulu tomorrow. Gonna be the worst thing of all time. Quote

Gonna be the worst thing of all time.it's not as bad as everyone is saying it is. it is certainly not good, but the reaction everyone is having is a ridiculous. if you enjoy lou reed's stuff you'll have a higher chance of enjoying it than if you don't, considering this is basically a lou reed album with james hetfield occasionally screaming about being a piece of furniture Edited October 24, 2011 by Idunnolol Quote

I have to say, it's probably the best concert video I've ever seen. Incredible musicianship and songs. John Petrucci is a freaking god on the guitar. Tenebrae Invictus Posted October 26, 2011 Posted October 26, 2011 I'm getting a mixed bag of negative reactions to Lulu. Could anyone tell me their thoughts that aren't "oh gosh it's so terrible don't ever listen to it"? And this is to a person who enjoys Classic Metallica quite a bit and has barely heard of Lou Reed. I might try listening to it sometime. Quote Up, down, turn around, please don't let me hit the ground
pls respond Posted October 31, 2011 Posted October 31, 2011 well there's a little variation but for the most part yeah. also Hetfield really isn't on it that much, he probably sings the most on The View. The View is also probably the best song too. also ohmygod you guys the new Cynic EP leaked and it is just perfect holy god Quote

~Takava Nirhii~ Posted October 31, 2011 Posted October 31, 2011 I'm excited for new Cynic. From what I've heard, it sounds pretty good. Also, I'm kinda excited for the new Megadeth. Xinlo Posted November 1, 2011 Posted November 1, 2011 I'm listening through Th1rt3en right now, and it's pretty sweet. The only bad bit I've discovered so far is "Fast Lane", which is basically a rehash of "502" and "1,320" with waaaay cheesier lyrics. "We The People" was great, probably my favourite, and the remake of "New World Order" is pretty cool. Sudden Death was changed a bit, so it's slightly better, but luckily the album is not all like that. The only one that is comparable (but better) is "Never Dead" which was already released. pls respond Posted November 1, 2011 Posted November 1, 2011 i feel like cheesy lyrics should be expected from Megadeth by now. don't get me wrong, i enjoy them when i'm in the mood but dear god is Mustaine an awful lyricist Quote
Xinlo Posted November 1, 2011 Posted November 1, 2011 Once again I'll have to disagree with you. Call me a Megadeth fanboy, but I love the majority of Dave's lyrics. Everyone makes bad songs sometimes, or bits that don't quite fit, but he's got lots of originality and only recently I feel he's been writing some weaker songs. I still enjoy them though. And after 14 albums the guy's gotta' be running a bit dry, so I can't blame him. Quote The Toa's Hideout is once again open for business!
