If there was a G3 series that came out and did G2's thing of letting Toa of Water to breath water with just there elemental powers, what mask would you give her instead?

Some of my thoughts for possibilities:

  •  Mask of Healing - A useful power and Gali has previous healed Tahu in the movie, although I'm a little worried of 'girl gets healing and stays at the back lines' trope getting used.
  •  Mask of Purification/Disspell - Another useful power, and if they were willing to play with it purifying curses/illusions/power effects it could be interesting; but would also be a very reactionary mask.
  • Mask of Weather Control - powerful and not flashy but could create interesting situtations.
  • Mask of Adaptation - Would suit a character who has an amphibious roll for the party and suit the concept of MOC by encourage people to design different forms for Gali based on different environments.
  • Mask of Smokeburst/Mist - creates smoke bursts or mist that can hid the user or allies. Not the most heroic, but definitely useful.

Mask of Camouflage would be my pick. I am surprised we never got one in canon.

Probably because we already had a Mask of Concealment which was practically exactly that.

Why Camouflage in particular? It's not what I would necessairly see for Gali but I'm interested in your logic.

Concealment (total invisibility), Stealth (really hard to see or hear), Illusion (create an illusion of the surrounding environment or shapeshift into a generic individual in a crowd), Kindred (by technicality, copy the ability of a Rahi with camo abilities), and (by a real long shot) Emulation (can briefly copy the powers of others) can all theoretically be considered a form of camouflage. So, technically, we got like five.

Upon some further reflection, I've decided that the Great Mask of Camouflage physically changes the user's colors to match their surrounding, as well as giving them other attributes that make the environment more survivable. So, to use the six original wahi as examples:

Ta-Wahi: turns the user black (or whatever color the rocks around you may be) and provides heat resistance

Ga-Wahi: turns the user blue/shimmering and provides longer breath-holding abilities

Po-Wahi: turns the user tan, heat/wind resistance

Ko-Wahi: turns the user white, cold resistance

Le-Wahi: turns the user green/brown

Onu-Wahi: turns the user black, limited night vision

The Noble version of the mask only changes the user's armor color.

I think the aspect of limited ability to survive in a new environment make the mask unique and provide it with something those other examples don't. As for why I'd give it to Gali specifically, I just think we never got to see her in a more subtle hunter-like role, and I think it would be neat to see what she'd do with a mask power like that.

Either a mask of mind control or (more original) a mask of emotion control so that she has another way to keep Kopaka and Tahu from fighting.

I vaguely remember a scene with Pouks trying to emulate someone's power and getting his mask broke for it.  It'd be cool if Gali had a similar moment where a villain sensed they were being influenced.

Mask of weather control is my favorite option of yours, although I feel like it would cheapen that epic moment in comic issue 4 where Lewa and Gali combine their powers to create a thunder storm to destroy some Bohrok.

Besides the fact that the Komau already exists, giving Gali the ability to magically stop Tahu and Kopaka from butting heads would he really, really bad storytelling.

I mean the mask of peace that either draws power for peace and calm or allows to reduction of extreme emotions could be an interesting; especially if it's the second effect and can do stuff like drain enemies of their rage or determination.

That would either be completely overpowered or utterly useless.

Wasn't the Avohkii theoretically supposed to do this (but never did)?

Yes, but at least it's a "special" mask. There's also a good reason Takanuva never used that ability.

It was supposed to be the complete opposite of the Kraahkan which in addition to spreading shadow, created fear and anger in its target, so the Avohkii was meant to be the cure for the Kraahkan's effect. But yes we never really saw either being used in the story to their full extent.

Kanohi Batark, mask of Elemental Recharging which greatly boosts how elemental energy is recovered after launching attacks. Users can last longer in combat but it does not mean bigger or supercharging a attack.
It also allows users from recover faster from a Nova Blast instead of being dangerously low level of exhaustion but not instantly. The Nuva version possesses the added effect of recharging 1 other Toa faster if they are close enough. (the user is not drained from this)

That version of the idea sounds like a good business decision for Lego, it would encourage some fans to buy more sets (Including mask packs) to be able to make a recolored version of any character that uses the mask.
