So it turns out there was an error with the computer I initially ordered; None of the ones ordered came in, so I think it was a listing that didn't have an actual computer. But there was one virtually the same that I originally wanted, so I got it in store today. *Finally*

Since my desk is almost done, I'm going to wait for that until I set it up. At any rate, I'm going to call it Alaraph, the traditional name of Beta Virginis from the constellation Virgo.

    Current Projects:

    • Concept art for B:NG
    • A comic... it used to be Bionicle fan fiction, but now it's not
    • Art class: Rendering a spray bottle and designing a label for it
    • English 103: an in-class essay is coming up, about Fences by August Wilson.

I find it fairly ironic that the longer I'm here the less I recognize the x-year masks that my profile obtains. At this point I have no idea what the mask I have is supposed to be. :P Of course, this is entirely my fault for not bothering to learn the current story. Kudos regardless to the staff for taking the extra time to recognize members who have been around longer!

  6. blog-0205149001395659050.jpgI made this, giant cannon walker thing because I thought i wanted to do something I haven't done before, so here it is! The cannon you see attached to those arm looking things are not in fact arms they are just poles holdin' a gun. The legs and feet are pretty neat, they are fairly maneuverable too! I can bend those things all over town!

So I'm thinking about getting lifetime premiership, what do y'all think?

  8. If you read What If?, you've probably noticed that my update schedule is grievously slipping. While I promise weekly updates, it's been more like monthly updates. This is because I bit off more than I could chew and started What If? during the summer, thinking I could keep up a chapter a week. As soon as I went back to school the September after the book started (I'm homeschooled, as I've mentioned before in this blog, but I'm taking classes at the local community college), it slowed down. By December the semester was over and I sped up a bit, but now the next semester has begun. In addition, I've recently been having a series of minor family crises, along with extracurricular things, and of course, sometimes even when I can be writing, I'm too stressed or uninspired to put any words on the page. I try not to force myself to write if I'm not feeling up to it, because I've noticed that when I didn't feel like writing at the time I wrote some scene, it's evident in the bland narration and dialogue and lack of anything interesting happening.

Still, Book 7 is a 20-chapter book like most of the others in the series, and it started in late July, so it should have been finished by the start of December. It's inexcusable to only be on Chapter Fourteen when the book started 37 weeks ago. It's already gotten to the point where I will have to delay the start of Book 8. And like I mentioned in my last blog entry, I want the series to be finished by the end of next year. As of this writing, there are 90 weeks until the end of next year, and 60 of them must be used on Book 8, 9 and 10. The remaining 30 are obviously for the intermissions between books. Normally I give myself 8 weeks between books, so if we assume 8 weeks between Book 8 and 9 and 8 weeks between Book 9 and 10, that means I have 14 weeks to work with before I start Book 8. I could safely drag Book 7 out to mid-July and still finish on time. Obviously, I don't want to do that.

However, expecting myself to write the remaining 6 chapters in 6 weeks is too much right now. Being realistic, I expect it to take at least 10 weeks. During school, it can take me almost 3 weeks to write a chapter (obviously depending on the length of the chapter, which varies from around 3000-8000 words), but when I'm off school I can occasionally manage one chapter a week. I seriously doubt that the rest of the book will take more than 14 weeks, especially considering there are only 5 weeks left in the semester, but if it does, I will simply have to shorten the other intermissions. Either way, there will be no intermission between Book 7 and 8. Because of these severe delays, Book 8 will start after Book 7 with no more than a single week of a break. This is well enough, because Book 8 picks up directly after Book 7 ends (I obviously haven't written Book 7's epilogue yet, but depending on if I can make it work as an ending, Book 8's first chapter might literally begin only seconds after the ending of Book 7).

This segues into the next part of my plan: writing ahead. When I started this series, I was updating three times a week. This was because I had written all of Book 1 before I began to post it. If I had done this with subsequent books, we might be seeing nearly year-long breaks between books. Because the books were so short at first (Book 1 was only about 70,000 words - for comparison, Book 7 had hit that mark by Chapter Eleven), I decided I would write them as I posted them. With Book 2, it worked out okay - I stayed ahead of my update schedule until almost the end. As I got more busy though, that became increasingly difficult and with Book 7 I was practically behind the update schedule before the end of the first month of the book.

To mitigate this effect, I'm writing Book 8 before I even finish Book 7. I'm already behind my intended schedule (I wanted to be finished Chapter 5 by now, but I'm only on Chapter 3), but since this is my final year of high school and I shouldn't have a very busy summer, I am hopeful (though not at all making any guarantees) to finish writing Book 8 by September, when I will start college full-time (as opposed to part-time as it is now). Whenever it finishes being posted really depends on when I finish Book 7, but I'm more concerned about staying ahead of my update schedule than I am about the update schedule itself.

It may seem counter-intuitive to be writing two books at the same time. Wouldn't that just make both of them go more slowly? Yes, really, it does, but I've already basically given up on finishing Book 7 with any amount of regularity to my update schedule by now. Please just bear with me until I finish Book 7. As long as I finish it within the next 14 weeks, I'm still on schedule. I am really hoping to finish it before then, so I can have Book 8 written by the end of summer, but I can only write as fast as my circumstances will allow.

By no means have I given up on the series - I will finish it out as long as I'm physically able to do so. Whether I will finish it by the end of 2012, and whether I will manage to provide any regularity to my updates from here on out, I can only make promises, but with this much work put into it, my own death (or losing my arms or something like that :P) is all that's going to stop me from finishing.

Again, I'm really sorry that I've been unable to hold to my promises regarding the update schedule. I've always prided myself on having a story where you could count on there being an update, even if it might be a few days late - not like the multitude of excellent fan fiction I've read only to find that the author has given up or isn't serious about updating regularly. But I've fallen into that myself now. Serves me right to make such steep promises, I suppose. But rest assured, any readers I still have - I am still here, still writing, and doing the best I can to keep putting out updates.

I'm alone in a old house in rural Minnesota. There's creatures living in this house, let's call them bats. Bats have been known to forcibly enter my living space, but they have not been a problem since late summer.

I hear them. Above my skull and within my life. Creeping and scratching. Probing for weakness.

I shall not let this end in my defeat. I down a potion of strength. The scraping grows louder.

Nothing can kill me. I am eternal.

  9. Up until now, he had been in silence, a deafening silence interrupted only by the sound of his own footsteps on the rocks. There was no breeze here - the air was still and lifeless. The faint huff of his breath was the only motion that air saw, and its steady rhythm was almost reassuring.

Then he heard something slip against the dust on the floor, quickly, as though it were running, or sliding, away. Or toward him. But he only heard that once. He sighed, and continued onward, fully expecting to bump into a wall at any moment, except he didn't. He just kept walking, and lost track of how long he had been. Even though the tunnel felt straight, when he turned around, he didn't even see a point of light where the shaft branched off, just more darkness. Still, he continued forward. There had to be something here, maybe even, he dared to hope, a way out.

Then he heard that noise again, that unsettling slip against the dust, moving toward him now.

Then he heard a faint hiss.

He heard it scream, and he screamed.

    Then he stopped.

And Everything was dark, and silent again.

So I got a Surface Pro 3 and was wondering if anyone know any programs that I should get in particular that take advantage of the Surface screen well? I haven't started using the pen much yet, but if anyone knows anything that might change that that would be cool. For example anyone know any good image editing/creating programs I could use with it?

  11. Miss you all, but I'm leaving forever now. :)

  12. Playing video games has always been a waste of my life, the closest thing I've gotten to it was playing game apps.

I just don't see the creativity people say comes from playing game. Where is it?

If anyone would like to tell me why video games are creative, please post.

Yeah, I'm back after a whole year of innactivity.

I'm pretty much done with BIONICLE, but I'll keep up on the story.

So as I came back I felt a certain familiarity- talk of 2009 set names, no-spoiler policies... I miss it all. But I'm done with the sets, books, etc.

» Click to show Spoiler - click again to hide... «
I've got to say- 2009 looks like it will be the best year ever. Amazing sets, they have a very 2001-ish feel.

Haha, now that I think about it, I can't even remember if I'm aloud to say that.

Sorry if I can't, but I'll use a spoiler tag just in case.

So have fun (as the year draws to a close) searching in vein for the 2009 sets you know won't be on the shelves, by you convince your mom to check anyways... And maybe bug that poor WalMart guy if they have them in the back :) .

You know, that's worked for me on three ocasions (Kal, Toa Metru, and Hordika). You ought to try it.

  19. Hey BZPers. I know I'm not one for advertisement but My Friend friend The Venom really would like to get some more followers for his comic series V3. It is one of the best comic series I have read on BZP, spans the course of 3 seasons, and the current story unfolding is really great. It involves Symbiotes, basically stemming from the famous spider man villain venom If you could give it a look and comment, that would be great. Thanks everyone

Did anyone notice that Nigel St. Nigel insulted someone by calling them a "daft punk" in Psych season 2 episode 1?

    I chuckled.

  21. These are stuff I'm going to be trying to get, sense I already gotten almost 3/4 of every bionicle sets and 6 Onua and LoSS.

I have already gotten The Tumbler and soon be getting a statue of Rhino from Warframe (a game that I can't stop playing). So sets I'm going to try and get when I have the money are Slave I (which I'm going to be getting next), The SHIELD Helicarrier and LEGO Creator Detective’s Office.

The statue I'm gonna be getting are 1/6 Sideshow of ARC Trooper Fives and Echo, maybe Rex as well.

  22. I don't know how anyone would know this, but I adore and collect stuffed animals and have for as long as I can remember.

    Stuffed Animal Collection 1

Might as well start with the OGs.  Left-to-right: Gram Paul "Uncle Grandpa" Penguin, everyone's favorite old man who's gotten up in years and now needs a wheelchair.   His son Fat Penguin (named long ago in a different time and place) who's probably the favorite animal I own.  He's got a wife and five kids, but we don't need to talk about them right now.  Glacier the walking ticking time bomb who likes to throw is little brother.  Said little brother Iceberg who's a kleptomaniac and who only has one foot, but everyone swears he lost before his brother threw him.  And finally their Italian cousin Gelato who's catchphrase is, "You guys are mean!"  He gets to say it a lot around this lot.

    Stuffed Animal Collection 2

A small sample of all my bears, the largest species in my collection.  Rapid fire family left-to-right:

Germania Kirk: got his name from when me and my sister played "Star Trek", but afterwards we couldn't stop calling him Kirk.  Is a preacher and married to...

    Maple: The Canadian bear.

Dimples: their son who was the first bear baby in the world and is now a doctor.  Everyone used to call him baby boy because he was the first.

Erin Erwin: the Irish ice cream man.

Millennium: Erin's wife and the undisputed best chef in the land.

Nikki: their daughter and now married to Dimples, hence...

Baby Boy: Dimples and Nikki's son who has his dad's old nickname.  His catchphrase is "Ta da", which he is also sometimes called.

Not shown are the two Erwin family boys, Cuddly and Winnie.  They moved away awhile ago and are living their best single life with their friend Curly.

Spangle and Brittany: I think I forgot their last name.  Spangle used to be a superhero (Spangle Boy!), but now I think he just sits in his pajamas all day.

Caramel: their third kid and former cheerleader.  Somehow fell in life with...

Sweeter: a gingerbread man and baker who can never match Millennium.

Lindy "Lucky Lindy": their daughter who's actually a clone of her mother because you know bears and cookies can't.  Anyway, she's a bit of a trouble maker.

    Stuffed Animal Collection 3

For whatever reason, most of my and my sisters' stuffed animal collections consisted of bears and penguin to the point that are few other animals were given the kind of offensive term "nonie" (NON-ee).  Either way, the nonies' lot has improved over the years and Punxsutawney Phil has been the mayor for eight years or more.  His chief advisor is his cousin Phil (the one without the hat) and together they wisely govern the town's treasury (the chests).  The big monkey is their bodyguard Lazlo Khan and his little monkey son Bongo.  The hedgehog is Lothario (that means "the lover") advisor/jester.  The green thing is a recent gift from my sister that I don't know what to do with so I let him hang in the executive suite.
Also, Meltdown isn't there to hold the flag for them or anything he's just also on my desk and photobombed them.

    Stuffed Animal Collection 4

More recent additions now that I love referencing things.  Left-to-right (back row), Pabu the red panda, Greywind the dire wolf, Bosco the black bear, Gojira the spinosaurus, and 51 the alien.  (Front row) Bruce the shark, Lottie the axolotl and her son Verde.

I've just realized that my love for writing might have started with the stories and backgrounds I created around all these animals.  Either way, this is a small sample of my collection, I probably have a hundred more, but what I really want to do is create some kind of archive of all of them with their names and histories to make sure I'll never forget.  Will I find time?  No idea, but this is a start I guess.
