  1. It's not unreasonable to expect a fan who has ready access to the internet and is good at finding sources of information to start at the beginning and go forward. It is unreasonable to expect young children to get into a theme which barely makes sense if you don't do extensive research. If I were 7 years old and introduced to BIONICLE in 2007, I would have trouble understanding what was going on. I don't think I'll ever see a LEGO theme I enjoy as much as BIONICLE. Part of what I liked about it was what I like about Star Wars, which is all the expanded universe stuff. The theme has a lot of media associated with it. It's true that other themes do too, but as far as I know none do to the degree that BIONICLE does. I am also one of the people who loves the Rahi, and I don't think we'll see anything like that for a long time, if ever - and even if we do, they'd be shiny and smooth with weird molds instead of constructed with awesome functions. Oh, and the style of animation for MNOG (and 2002/2003) is my favorite, and we probably won't ever see something like that as the capabilities of computers get better and better. That said, if you want an action figure theme with interchangeable/collectible something or others and cool powers, one could conceivably happen at some time, but it would probably look more like Hero Factory than BIONICLE (which would ruin it for me, as I am in no way of Hero Factory).
  2. I really hope not. The person below me is an NSA spy.
  3. The books were nice, I think. The comics always disappointed me. I assumed that I just hadn't gotten all of them (even though it turns out that I did get all of them)...they didn't finish anything. There was another discussion about what book you would make as a movie. Most people said Time Trap (which I have not read, sadly). I think the 2006 saga as a whole would make a good movie, even if it would leave out a lot of background.
  4. I was building Teridax and I realized that I don't have his head. It's red with a trans light blue crystal. If you have that, I'll buy it.
  5. I've decided to get into BIONICLE trading. I have done quite a bit of online Yugioh trading, if you want to see some record. The topic doesn't appear to have a draft saving function, so I'll add the haves later Wants: Sets for 2001-2003 collection: 1390 Maku1391 Jala1392 Kongu1393 Matoro1441 Fikou8537 Nui-Rama8539 Manas8541 Matau8545 Whenua8546 Power Pack (I only really need the mask and the matoran)8553 Pahrak Va8558 Cahdok and Gahdok8581 Kopeke8583 Hahli8589 Takua and PewkuOther: 7117 Gresh7138 Rakshi8626 Irnakk8762 Toa Iruini8763 Toa Norik8903 Zaktan8913 Nuparu8982 Strakk Priority parts (incomplete): 1 long blue piece from the Tarakava (important) 1 blue slope from the Tarakava (important) 2 of Tahu Nuva's swords 1 of Pahrak-Kal's shields 1 of Kopaka Nuva's mask 1 of Gali Nuva's mask 1 of Lehvak's faceplate 1 of Tahnok-Kal's faceplate 1 of Tahnok-Kal's shields 1 of Onua Nuva's legs 1 of Tahnok-Va's Krana holders 2 of Onua Nuva's Quake Breakers 1 of this hinge piece from the Exo-Toa 1 of Kongu's mask 1 of Turaga Nuju's WHITE head with Trans-light blue crystal 1 of Gahlok Va's feet 1 of Gali's claws 1 long tube from Kane-Ra (I really need this one) 1 Gukko wing 1 flat silver tube from the Gukko 2 of this black tube from the Boxor 2 of this other black tube from the boxor 1 of Lehvak-Kal's faceplate 1 of Maku's mask 1 of Lhikan's swords 1 of Gahlok's eyes Others that I'm looking for: 1 of Antroz's wings 1 of Berix's swords 1 of Raanu's...shields? 1 red claw-foot 1 of Avak's feet 1 Nuju Hordika's head 1 tube from Vastus' weapon 1 tube from Berix' weapon (this but blue) Haves: (incomplete) 1 Vastus 1 Atakus 1 Raanu 1 Gahlok-Kal 1 Mata Nui (Glatorian Legends, not Titan) 1 Kiina 1 Toa Onewa
  6. I don't think the far right one is thinner- it's just angled, pointed off to the right instead of straight on. Nine guards... I'm pretty sure that from that angle it would be wider than that.
  7. I like the picture, but the shields all have the same imperfections (except for the far right one, which has them on the opposite side). The far right shield also looks a lot thinner than the others, which appear to be very thick in this picture. Otherwise, this is great. It looks to me like they're defending it from something close to the ground that doesn't jump - maybe a killer slug?
  8. I was not able to run it. I'm on a fairly low end computer with Windows 7 (which does run Unity).
  9. You doubled up on your text there. Also, there's only one WMKK, the xa. You might be thinking of the VMKK, which have the set of 8. But that's gonna cost you about $800 for a full set, so get saving I was actually unaware at the time I wrote that post of the Vacuum Metal Krana-Kal (I assumed that it was the same thing) and of the specifics. Yeah, I'd like the VMKK in a full set, but there's no way I'm getting those any time soon.
  10. The Ta-Koro Guard, Onu-Koro Ussalry, and Le-Koro Gukko Riders clearly know how to fight. Other than that...we don't know if they have armies. Considering how Ga-Koronans were never shown to actually fight (they relied on their location as their form of defense), I think it's likely that they don't have one. Ko-Koronans, likewise, probably didn't have an actual army, just some guards, relying on their location to protect them. Po-Koronans didn't appear to have an army, either. Well, the other tab that I have on my browser right now is Biosector, and it says that ga-koro has a small force of guards, that po-koro has a larger one (they even use dikapis) and that the ko-koro sanctum guard is a permanent army, of which we have only seen two, but they may be more. Look at it this way: matoran jobs are necessary, but guards are important. I think we can divide guards into two categories: permanent and non- permanent. Pemanent guards are those which only work as guards (Jaller, Agni, Pakastaa...); non-permanent are those who have other occupations, but defend the koros when necessary (Shasha, Amaya, who you can see defending ga-koro in MNOG and in the bohrok animations, although they are a weacer and a flax maker). Thus, we can classify the ta koro guard, the ussalry and the gukko force as permanent forces, while ko koro has two permanent guards (talvi and pakastaa) and can call upon some scholars or carvers when in need, the same as whith ga-koro. But we can see at least that po-koro has an army, armed with disks and mounted on dikapis. Seriously, what kind of village has tamed ostriches if they don't need them. Also, in MNOG II you can see ally and piatra guarding the gate to po-koro. They are the same who in the bohrok animations prepare to help hafu topple his statues. You also have the guard on the lookout tower with the huna. He looks permanent. As last argument, it would be unfair to have three villages fighting and dying and the others sitting back and watching. Do you really think po matoran (namely hafu) would let them get all the merit? No, they would not. I don't consider a small group of guards to be the same thing as an army (it's a bit arbitrary, but the Ta-Koro guard is clearly massive). A small permanent guard could not defend a village from the swarms. Yet Ga-Koro matoran only ran away, Ko-Koro did not appear in the animations. I may have misinterpreted the Po-Koro animations - I had assumed that they were just villagers, not trained guards. It wouldn't really fit with the official animations to have Ga-Koro send an army to fight the Bohrok. You could make it fit by having them all defeated, but if they're defeated, then they're under the control of the swarms... I had not realized that Ko-Koro had an army. Where did they appear?

  13. Well, Castle and Space-related themes are loopholes to this. The subthemes of these mentioned themes are pretty similar to one another, but you could have a point because Space and Castle are small bubbles that rarely have much influence. Yes, but there are a whole bunch of Space themed stuff in Lego, and they are all similar but different. There hasn't been a reboot of certain themes. HF is similar to Bionicle but it isn't the same, for example. Well, in some cases, Space Police III (the one from 2009-2010) is considered a reboot of Space Police I & II, but if this is the case, yes, a BIONICLE reboot does sound far-fetched. Space Police II was clearly a continuation of Space Police, but that was in a time when all Space and Castle themes were tied together. Space Police III shares little with Space Police I and II other than the fact that it's about police in space. It's not a continuation or reboot.

  15. Granted. Your sense of nostalgia is stripped away and you realize that you only liked them because you were young. I wish I knew what TOUAB was.
  16. Member Name: BobaFett2 Answer Number: 3 Answer: "What you're seeing is intended. However, please refrain from entering any value greater than '5.'" Question: "I tried logging in to my BZPower account today, but it said I was locked out and to try again later. After 5 minutes, I grew tired of waiting and attempted to log in again. At the top of my screen, instead of saying my name, I saw the name "BioMaster5012". Clearly, this was wrong. I visited my profile, and it was empty. I went to my control panel, and saw that there was only one thing - a dial going from one to eleven, with a picture of Kongu next to it. Was this supposed to happen? Should I change the value?
  17. So...would it be plausible with a Great Mahiki....say if you're in a warehouse...full of boxes...and some generic bad guys come looking for you...could you make youself look like a box? Or create the image of a box to hide behind? Make your own visual cover? o_O XD Or, say you're explaining something to your buddy, but you think it would just be easier if they could have a 3D diagram...Could you generate the illusion of a hologram to explain things better, like the tactical points of terrain or someones armour's weak points, or a certain object, say like this but more lifelike: http://assets.inhabitat.com/wp-content/blogs.dir/1/files/2013/09/Iron-Man-Movie-Prologue-Hologram-1.jpg To the first...there's nothing that I know of that would prevent this, but it has never been explicitly stated that it's possible to look like an inanimate object. Maybe you could look like a Rahi that looks like an inanimate object (like an elemental stone beast of some sort)? For the second, I doubt it.
  18. Granted - after successfully cloning and raising a T-Rex from fossilized bones, a feat thought impossible, you are eaten by the dinosaur you created I wish for more wishes
  19. I strongly disagree. The movies (at least the first three) are far less lighthearted than just about any LEGO theme. I've watched Hero Factory and Ninjago. Ninjago is very lighthearted, and Hero Factory is pretty tame. BIONICLE may not be an ultra-dark theme, but it has the least lighthearted themes of any theme, I think. Perhaps, but the differences in the level of lightheartedness is imperceptible on anything but a tiny scale. They all were very simple in their themes, their characters were not complex, and their conflict was clearly defined. They were, in a word, kid shows. Not that this is a bad thing, which is really the overarching point I'm trying to make here. These kinds of shows would still fit into the mold we've formed here. Again, I strongly disagree. The only lightheartedness present in BIONICLE is stuff associated with Le-Matoran/Toa of Air (plus Pohatu once or twice when he's bugging Kopaka) through 2004, after which nothing is lighthearted - the Visorak are a monstrous plague, Mata Nui is dying and he has to be saved (and the Matoran on Voya Nui are held captive by murderous brutes), even more powerful and evil sea creatures are trying to take the Mask of Life, and then the Toa have to face off against beings of shadow, the embodiments of evil in the Matoran Universe. The only real exception before 2009 is Mata Nui Online Game (MNOG II is pretty calm and fun but doesn't have that same sense of humor that MNOG did) - which isn't even canon, and in 2009 the only exception is Berix. Bara Magna definitely isn't light-hearted. Compare that to any Ninjago episode. I can't say for sure with Hero Factory as I've only seen the first two seasons (and it was a while ago) - maybe that isn't lighthearted, but just about any other LEGO theme is (the other exception I can think of off the top of my head is Alpha Team). BIONICLE was clearly for kids but it was not your run-of-the-mill theme. Okay, let's see. The Visorak are akin to the Serpentine, including (in the case of the Fangpyre) the ability to mutate and corrupt innocents. The death of Mata Nui is essentially an apocalypse, the likes of which The Overlord and Great Devourer threatened Ninjago with. Powerful snake-men, undead skeletons, and invincible stone warriors face the Ninja and try to take the Golden Weapons, Fang Blades, or whatever other plot trinket is currently in play, not unlike the modus operandi of almost every Bionicle villain. The Ninja have faced shadow doppelgangers of themselves, corrupted versions of each other, and of course the Overlord, the embodiment of all that is evil in the world. That's not even taking into account non-show Ninjago stories like those in the chapter books or graphic novels (and Bionicle's darkest points were, probably not coincidentally, mostly confined to the comics and chapter books). I admit Bionicle did take itself mega-seriously, aside from the occasional light-hearted banter between Toa. But this was almost more of a failing than a virtue, and it's no wonder that the "non-canon" Mata Nui Online Game is considered by a vast number of fans to be a high point of the series, and one of the aspects of it that has aged best. I don't even know why you bring up Berix at all; he's no more light-hearted than any Matoran or Toa, so I'm assuming you're talking about his nasally voice, which gets an undue amount of hate. Lego media is often, at its core, light-hearted. That doesn't prevent it from presenting serious stories with amazing characters and dynamic and engaging universes. And I think those were the aspects of Bionicle's story that made it ripe for discussion; not necessarily the grimdark tone it began to adopt more and more in later years. I actually meant some of the stuff related to his "collecting". I don't mind his voice. The Visorak's powers may somewhat resemble the Serpentine, but the comparison ends there. The Serpentine are ridiculous oafs who cannot do anything right. They behave childishly the only capable ones are the leaders - only the big leader has any real ability or intelligence. Every scene the Serpentine are in, they do something stupid or mess things up. The Visorak, on the other hand, are deadly spiders who entrap creatures and mutate them into monstrous, crazed forms. They cover everything in their webs and are incredibly deadly. Ninjago may do some things that BIONICLE does, but in Ninjago it was always filled with jokes and intended to be humorous. In BIONICLE, the fate of the city/island/world rested on it. BIONICLE was clearly for kids but it was not your run-of-the-mill theme. Lightheartedness isn't a bad thing. Terraria never takes itself seriously and I love that game. It was actually quite lighthearted and kid-ish other than what you mentioned. But I won't bother to list all of that. It's not about what happens, but how it's handled. I think you should make yourself more informed before you start using blanket statements like the ones you did. I agree, it isn't a bad thing. I exaggerated a bit, but I stand by my point. Ninjago is far more lighthearted and joking than BIONICLE, even in its early years (and there's no question that around 2005/2006 things started getting a lot more serious).
