  1. I know why out of universe these two exist side-by-side, but if one had a choice between the two, why would anyone choose the Miru over the Kadin? Levitation vs. Flight - it's obvious which is better. Am I missing something or is there a situation where their Miru is better than the Kadin?
  2. I would rather like to know a bit more of the characters and they're pasts but some thoughts (note all Kanohi here are canonical): Magnetism: Mask of Rebound, although his powers could replicate it's effects with metal weapons, so Mask of Accuracy would be better, or a Mask of Elemental Energy could also work if he ends up using Magnetism a lot to control his weapons in flight. Javelins or Hatchets as those will return anyway by his mask/elemental powers. Iron: Mask of Strength - a classic, and would allow him to do good solid hits with his sword. Gravity: Mask of Levitation, Repulsion or Flight - Repulsion is immoral in G1 canon but could be interesting to see a toa with such a mask and why, also could protect him from bad flail attacks. Levitation could also work, as he could use his Gravity to pull himself through the air and use the mask to glide safely down. Plasma: Mask of Possibilities or Telekinesis - Help protect his team mates from the side effects of his powers and collateral damage can manipulating the battlefield. As a weapon - maybe a spear and shield combo? Keep him safe away from the danger. Lightning: Mask of Truth, Detection, Conjuring or Emulation - I don't, just interesting powers. Weapons could a hooked/spiked chain to latch onto targets and electrocute them, with a dagger to protect herself at short range. 3. Been thinking about it some idea for G3 races: -Firstly, all races are biomechanical, and are capable of some form of biological reproduction - not shown, but references to families and clans, etc. -Agori - distant ancestors of the Matoran and Zesk, maybe some of the other races. Long gone and would only be referenced. - Matoran are largely like G1, elementally associated, need to wear mask, good craftsmen, etc. Instead of having a one path life cycle, matoran can be upgraded in three ways: Toa, Turaga, Aides. Toa are the taller elemental heroes, chosen by Golden Masks which bond with them for life - each Golden mask being the unique original of a type of mask of power - the first mask of shielding, first mask of speed, etc. Turaga are chosen by silver mask, less elemental power but get the memories of all the previous Turaga and increased Intelligence, Cunning and Wisdom. Toa don't become Turaga as both serve very different roles in society - heroes, champions and elementalists vs. sages, leaders and teachers. Aides, who need a better name, are modified Matoran who can link up with Toa and other powerful beings to give them a boost in strength and new abilities - like the Av-matoran from G1. They can become Toa and Turaga, and often do so, as they change is primarily physical not quasi-mystical/spiritual. Usually given bronze masks as a sign of their rank. - Skakdi, again mostly like G1. Two main differences: Spine Slugs are totally symbiotic - feeding off the Skakdi's emotions in exchange for a regular burst of concentrated energy, acting as a cross between fuel and an adrenaline shot. The Slugs are also near immortal, and passed down from one Skakdi to another, and some even tattoo on their Spine Slug to preserve their tales of bravery and martial skill. The other major difference is Irnakk - who is very real - and during solar and lunar eclipses hunts down Skakdi with the scissors in one hand and claymore in the other. If the Skakdi is lucky, Irnakk will only cut off a limb before they can escape, although most and cut to pieces. From these amputated limb grow new skakdi, all born with the innate knowledge of the progenitors sins and power of the Irnakk. - Zesk + Vorox; One race here. Zesk are similar to matoran in some ways, as they are also descended from the Agori. However, they don't wear masks, have no elemental association, are more feral and trade crafting skill with hunting + Scavenging talents. Zesk only can become Vorox, a sort of toa stand in. Vorox are associated with animals just as toa are aligned to the elements; with Zesk going on a spirit hunt as a rite of passage - those that succeed to the catch their totemic beast gain powers based on and ascend as Vorox. Zesk do have civilization like the ones on Bota Magna - but have animal/nature theming through out; such a duels being done as elaborate competitive hunts and tunnels designed to rush through on all fours. - Skrall (Baterra/Vortixx): One race, with a physical split outside of gender. Baterra are shape shifting warriors with two of enhanced strenght, speed or toughness/endurance and can shoot energy blasts. Baterra mostly exist outside of Skrall society, been exiles in bands of nameless warriors. The only way to get named is either to kill another Baterra with a name (gaining their power and prestige), kill an enemy of the Skrall nation or to climb the Mountain. Named Baterra can enter wider Skrall society, but often find it hard to live in that cut throat world after years of brutal exile. The Vortixx are powerful psychics; able to read minds, alter memories, telekinesis, illusions and influencing minds. In addition, they can also produce energy blasts like the Baterra, although these attacks do less damage in exchange for more pain and a stunning explosion of light and sound. Vortixx have made Skrall society more about brutal cunning and deception over the years due to the social division between Baterra and Vortixx; this is further worsen due to meditating on the Mountain has corrupted their minds in the pursuit of power. On a final note, the Skrall's dull black armour is enfact incredible colourful and detailed, although one must see it in Ultraviolet like both Baterra and Vortixx can. -Makuta and the Rahkshi - Makuta is a dark malevolent spirit, corrupting others to do his bidding, while hiding his heart in a deep fortress far away from civilization. Over the years he has corrupted many Gold and Silver masks, denying Toa and Turaga to the matoran, to create his dark masks - any being who accepts one of these masks is turned into a Rahkshi - a dark parody of the Toa. Where the Toa are heroes who fight for the three virtues, the Rahkshi sold their lives to Makuta in exchange for dark power. Rahkshi can be from any race, and will lose their powers if their mask is purified or Makuta decides to take it from them.
  4. No spandex, although the Kaita idea is actually brilliant (hadn't thought of it).
  5. Which elements do you think don't mesh with the general ideas of Bionicle? My idea was that the Toa use giant robots which enhance their powers to titanic levels; these robots can be summoned at will, teleporting to their user - think like what zords do in Power rangers.
  6. Okay, I know that is a click-bait title, but hear me out. One possibility if Lego decides to drop ccbs or other construction settings in the future but decided to reboot Bionicle is to do as it a Mech series (ala Exo-force) using standard the standard Lego system to build sets and specialised minifigs for the characters. The rough idea is this: The Matoran are a bio-mechanical race who live in peace and harmony with the world around them with their limited elemental gifts; trees growing faster as they tend them, metals forge by fuelless flames and city mounded from the mountains like children's clay. Their culture with it's myriad of blessed masks tells tales of great kings and heroes - the Toa, titans of such size they could step over hills, such strength to smash down mountains and the power to raise whole ranges with a flick of their hands. At first the Toa used their power for good, but one by one they fell to some darkness - and their war shook the world. The Matoran wear their masks to enshrine the Toas' glory, and to remember their horrors. However a new evil has arisen - great monsters called the Rahkshi, arising from the shadows of night and eclipse to destroy everything the Matoran have worked for. Worst, a cult calling itself the 'Brotherhood of Makuta' is predicting these attacks with startling accuracy and is using this knowledge to grow their power base. 6 Matoran use the chaos to go on an expedition through a forbidden desert to a ruined citadel. Tahu, a prince who seeks the chance for a warrior's life; Gali, a explorer who lost everything to a rahkshi; Pohatu, a wounded Kolhii star with knowledge of the deserts; Kopaka, a ranger and loner; Onua, an ageing soldier and teacher; and Lewa, a young acrobat seeking adventure. Within the ruins they find golden masks; giving them power over ancient warmachines and ascending them to the rank of Toa. So what did you guys think?
  7. I would like G3 to have: - Either remove the Earth/Stone divide or properly explain it. - Either 10-12 elements, and having at least one toa of each element; or doing sub-element/specialised tricks like Avatar for 6 elements. - No gender fixed elements. - Mask + element powers, not just elemental powers. - Toa coming from the Matoran/villagers/whatever, and not just coming from space. - More world building than G2.
  8. I thought that it was a sole tropical island in the middle of a sea like the Pacific Ocean on the planet that all Lego lines were set in. Also the term 'rahi' only applied to the monsters of the first year, and Makuta made them by throwing certain animals in a cauldron of dark power that mutated them into monsters.
  9. My opinion is that he was randomly assigned that mask as a matoran. Nuhrii, a Ta-matoran, Kivi, a Po-matoran, and Gavla, an Av-matoran, all wore Kaukaus but are not natural swimmers or aquatic combatants.
  10. I like, I like. Wish actually Bionicle sets were actually that detailed.
  11. Personally, I would like to see a 3rd generation, but it really relies on what the managers in Lego see the failure of G2. If they see it as Bionicle as a failure in set design and as a story theme, then it'll have little interest in it's return. If they realise it was down to marketing and lack of brand awareness, they may be more open to another reboot. Either way, it'll be at least several years before we get anything. But what interest me more is what they could do with it. Should they stick to what has gone before or do something quite different? I mean, could G3 see toa being matoran bound to giant mechanical warmachines, which are the construction sets, with their villages and other places of note being represented by more traditional lego sets. I don't why I had that idea but I did.
  12. Some good points but 2 counter points: The first is that the reboots started after Beast Wars was made, so all details were based on a particular series and not on shared similarities of various iterations. The second is that if there was a closer link to the previous series the history would probably have developed more as there is already material to work with unlike G2 which has to fill a void it doesn't need to fill to explain what is going on.
  13. This is a theoretical conversation on a missed potential way of doing G2. To explain the title I must explain a little bit about Transformers Beast Wars. This series was a sequel to the original Transformers series, but with the Nine year gap, they couldn't simply expect people to know the past of the series, so instead of doing a direct sequel, they set Beast Wars in the far future of Transformers, and while having it's own storyline, the new series was linked both by a slowly explored mythos and set of plot points. As such, it could grow to be it's own thing while still drawing on the original Transformers series. My point is, could have Lego used this when they set up G2? I know that this is basically the priniciple that Nova Orbis works on, but should that have been the official reboot route? Do people think it would have been better or worse than G2 is now? How closely should the changes be to the world - should it be a couple of thousand years down the line when the main Toa are now Turaga or should it be far into the future the the Toa Nuva are being surrounded by myth and the cities of old are long lost ruins?
  14. I think the largest difference in the tribes is the sensor tail on Vizuna, the Protector of Jungle, and we don't know if that if that is a unique trait or something common to the whole tribe. So it seems likely that if two villagers of different tribes had a child, it would just be another villager. Now, the question of what tribe they would belong to is an interesting anthropological problem. We just don't know enough to answer it. We don't know if Okotians are Patriarchal or Matriarchal, or if gender has no role in society, espicially with the roles of individuals in marriage and the dominance in traditional systems of power.
  15. Hear the pretty song only once Would you rather of the powers of a Toa of Light, or be in eternal pain with the powers of a Makuta of Light
  16. That is sort of curious, isn't it? Instead of agreeing to destroy the Mask of Control — something that would surely help to keep Makuta from using its power against him — Ekimu changes the subject. So let's suppose he doesn't want to destroy the Mask of Control. How come? Some people are assuming this means he wants the Mask of Control for himself, but what if he doesn't? What if he wants it for Makuta? Let's not forget that Makuta, back when he wore the Mask of Control, was not evil — simply jealous of the adoration Okoto's people had for Ekimu's masks. Maybe Ekimu still has hope his brother can be saved from the Mask of Ultimate Power's corruption, and wants to have his mask ready for him when that happens. Ekimu might not want the Toa to know this — yet. It would not be good for Okoto if the Toa were to hesitate in battle because they're not sure whether or not to think of Makuta as "the enemy". But while Ekimu surely wishes to stop his brother's evil plans, he hasn't committed to destroying his mask the way Makuta was prepared to have Skull Grinder destroy the Mask of Creation. Maybe that is a sign Ekimu still loves his brother and isn't ready to give up on him just yet. I think this is more likely than the whole 'Ekimu is evil' thing, and makes the story better. It shows that there is a clear cut line between good and evil, but when you walk the wrong path it is hard to see, and it's equally as hard to accept that a loved one has failed.
  17. This is not another thread debating whether or not Earth and Stone should be combined as one element. We have enough of those threads. Instead my question is based in a hypothetical situation where they are combined into one element for a new generation of Bionicle and the designers decided to keep a team of six, who should keep the Earth + Stone fusion element (henceforth referred to as Earth for simplicity), Pohatu or Onua? And what element does the other get? And what element does the other get? I see several possible scenarios: A) Pohatu becomes the Toa of Wind, with Lewa remaining Toa of Jungle. Pohatu would remain the loveable high speed character of G1, and it would make sense with his desert habitat - a land shaped by the unbridled wind and an open sky unblocked by forest canopy or cloud infested with water. Onua would be the solemn individual that meditates on the nature of life and contemplates battle plans by using his Earth powers to reshape his underground world in an exercise best described as 'rock gardening'. This is my preferred option, with the only disadvantage with that Pohatu would have to stop being brown, =(, and get more 'airy' colours, like orange. And we all know what an orange Pohatu looks like, although an orange and white colour scheme could work if they're in balance. B) Onua is the Toa of Metal, living amongst a village of miners who directly forge the best equipment for their stout champion leading the mining teams to new seems of high quality ore, which he senses through his link with the imprisoned metals. Pohatu would become the Toa of Earth, presiding over a rocky desert where his powers have plenty of materials to shape into training equipment to do exercising on an epic scale. Not my preferred choice due to how metal doesn't seem to have a natural habitat and it seems a little contrived. C) Some other minor element gets put onto either Pohatu or Onua. I could see Pohatu being either Plasma (heat of the desert), Sound (the quite sands giving peace to the toa in a world of battle and monsters) or Lightning (Lightning blasted desert anyone?). Onua could have either Gravity (bound to the ground and draws all others down with him) or Sound (The layers of Earth muting out sound from about while distant echoes alert the villagers of incoming danger). So what do you guys think?
  18. Actually he had two, but one was undescended and the British used to write a song called 'Hilter has only got one ball'. Irish Police are called Garda. Civilization, the first official 4X video game, was based off a board, and then someone made a board version of the video game. 'Panther' was the name for a mythical multicoloured creature in medieval lore which went to sleep for 3 days before waking up, and then open it's mouth to release a sweet aroma that attracts all creatures that smell it, and then eat everything that came near it. Donkey Kong is called that because Shigeru Miyamoto thought that Americans would understand it as 'Dumb ape'.
  19. There is no Air, the element is Jungle. Personally I think Storm Beast is Water and Ice while Quake is Earth and Jungle.
  20. Looks more like he's having a tantrum in that he has no friends to combined with or something. But the Kaita are impressive.
  21. Get all the Creatures except Melum (ice), as he is basic Terak but with a toa, and I'm not a big fan of the toa this year.
  22. I want a deeper story, like G1 had. That's what seems to be missing most from G2. My main fear is that Lego isn't going to go with that path and instead just go for 'simple story to justify toys'. On a more hopeful note, I look forward to seeing if they come up with anything like the elemental beasts again. To me, they're the best thing out of G2.
  23. Well, from what I see, the head doesn't look like one of the original slizers and it has no way to launch discs, which both separate it from the original slizer feel. The bulky does also come into play, but that is because of your choice of to build the slizer in a more modern design.
  24. The board game in the first year mentioned that Onua was believed by the matoran as being the spirit that created earthquakes, which just gives a feel of the weird mystical aura the early series had.
