Hey guys, give me some suggestions for the art/mosaic/sculpture award categories for Bricks Cascade. I'm coordinating that theme, but based on info I've been given/my experience coordinating the Other category at BrickFair, it's going to be art-like things such as mosaics and sculptures, but there will also be a bunch of other random stuff that doesn't really fit anywhere else. Like tapeworms. Right now categories I have as ideas are: -best mosaic (will be a category for sure) -best sculpture (also will be a category for sure) -best vignette (same with this one. These first three are auto-ins) -best/most artistic -best use of colour -best MOC based on a franchise -best/most random thing -best/most abstract So, please suggest nixings or suggest category ideas as you see fit. I don't want to have a ton of categories, but I also don't want to leave something blatantly obvious out. It's kind of hard to judge when there's very few registered MOCs for Bricks Cascade, so deciding on things like "best franchise-based MOC" is pretty hard to decide. I've been looking at the BrickFair categories and they tend to keep it pretty clean and tight with the categories and I would like to mimic that here.

I guess. Most food photography, specifically in advertising and for product packaging gets way worse than this. Like, "milk" in most ads is really white liquid glue. I would have liked to use real milk, but yeah. I drink almond milk and it is off-colour, and I couldn't justify buying regular milk just to have to throw it away after.

Essentially since my mom went "let's hand the SLR camera to the three year old yes this will end very well". Proper studio work like this? Since January. It's really cheap (and expired) whipped cream that was rapidly warming up because the fridge near the studio I thought would be working ended up being broken. In the sequence of photos I took of the ice cream, you can see everything rapidly melting in a really sad but slightly funny way. It's funny that you thought the whipped cream was something else, because the milk in the other two images is actually white primer and water, since I didn't want to buy a gallon of milk to waste when I could just fake it and have it look like the exact same effect.

The other three images from the food project. Deep-frying Oreos didn't go well, because they ended up looking like charcoal pieces and now the kitchen smells really bad. It did work for this though, since I needed to create a visually appealing but unappetizing image. Part 1 is here.
