  1. Guys, if you own a Vita... Get Tearaway. Absolutely amazing!
  2. It's Hades from Disney's Hercules and also a bunch of characters he made for stuff. -NotS
  3. Hey everyone! Now that the advertising policies have been revised, I would like to show all of you what I have been busy with the last year and a half. This film, titled PARAZECT: Forthcoming was a film I created for my last year in school, and also an Art final. It is based on Japanese action shows Kamen Rider and Super Sentai (the footage for that show is used for Power Rangers) so you may find a lot of similarities to them. The movie is heavy on action, but only has a little bit of blood and should be safe to watch for most audiences (considering the types of movies that are called "family movies" in America are a lot more vulgar). Please enjoy and thanks for checking this out!
  4. Yeah, art style definitely changed depending on the artist. D'Anda (2001-2002) had a really graphic-novel esque style. It was very stylized and had a nice mix between rich colours and a comic-like look which I really like. Elliot in 2003-2005 had a more set-accurate look, which was okay in some frames but really boring in others. It didn't help that the colourist often miscoloured characters and/or used a more darker hue (I guess to fit Metru Nui's theme). Sayger (2006-2007) was extremely stylized, utilizing really dark tones and heavy paint to make it very unique and artsy, but I guess this was hit and miss with the fans. Overall, I like his style, though some characters were total aberrations. Then we had Mhan from 2008 to the end of the series, who was more like a mix between D'Anda and Elliot by having stylized the characters with rich colours and comic styles, but still remaining set accurate. Great style, though I felt his last two comics had sub-par art. I believe Zanier also deserves a mention for his breathtaking art in the couple of graphic novel original comics he did, such as Hydraxon's Tale and the Baterra story in the Bara Magna graphic novel. Very detailed and organic - absolutely a pleasure to look at. Overall, all of them have unique styles that reflect the artist, not necessarily the time frame. I feel that each one brought something radically new to the table, which made reading the comics a real blast. Ah, how I miss those comics. -NotS
  5. Yeah, looks about the same... minus the uh... weapon thing. But other than that... Good catch! -NotS
  6. Oh man... It's been 10 years. 10 years since all that hype... Writing stories in grade 3 and reading every BIONICLE comic and LEGO magazine billions of times over to get my latest fix before the movie. 10 years since I watched in jealousy as my friends all got the movie on VHS and teased me about it... 10 years since BIONICLE: The Game, though I was still playing Super Mario on my NES. 10 year since I first watched the movie, a sense of magic instilled in me. I watched it so many time. Back then, it was so epic, so surreal... so abso-freakin-lutely awesome! Oh man, time goes by so fast. It's kind of depressing. -NotS
  7. I'm all for a BIONICLE reboot, assuming it uses some of the same characters and utilizes areas of the universe without being drastically different. If BIONICLE was rebooted after say, a 10 year hiatus, the same characters could return for a new generation, and there would not be a complaint about similarities because... well, it's a new generation. I'd love it if the next BIONICLE story was about the Toa Nuva, 10 years later, against a new foe. Reason I feel BIONICLE would do fine is because LEGO seemed to do everything right after it ended. HERO FACTORY launched successfully with a huge marketing campaign. They have TV episodes and films every year. LEGO is now making a full feature movie for theatres, and both Ninjago and Legends of Chima are building on the success of HERO FACTORY's campaign. What if BIONICLE had something that awesome? I'm sure it would catch the interest of more kids and the veteran fans alike. I really hope they consider reviving BIONICLE in the future. I hope they learned from their mistakes and successes with this experimental line and will be able to create a more consistent successor to the franchise I grew up with. -NotS
  8. MNOG: that game was magical the first time. Like seriously... I felt like I was in Mata Nui, part of Takua's grand quest with the Chroniclers company. BIONICLE Heroes was pretty good. Though all it was was dumb action. xD Sometimes that's all ya need. -NotS
  9. Kind of a depressing story. Innovation is always stressed to be so good, and it almost killed off one of the biggest toy companies out there... Probably why innovation with LEGO has been in steps pretty much. Part design and set design has improved slowly but it wasn't a big change like what BIONICLE/Movie licensed sets did. At least they found their niche. -NotS
  10. American bands I listen to... Dream Theater. They are so progressive and excellent in their song-writing and playing... they are just masters. I'm excited for their next studio album coming out this year too. I tend to listen to a lot of J-Rock, Visual Kei, K-Pop though... Two favourite artists right now are NoGoD and KARA. They have singles coming out tomorrow (well I guess today technically) and I'm super excited!
  11. The mini-ball joints are HOT. These remind me of the old "pod" sets back in like 2005, and I really dug those. So, good news to me! -NotS
  12. Not surprised: they were going to have to promote this somehow. But man those sets look good! I'm excited for the LEGO movie, the trailer was hilarious. And the video game! This is going to have some extensive marketing campaign! -NotS
  13. The Tohunga have a really special place in my heart. They were simple but still had cool functions - the colour schemes were amazing and... it was just a great gimmick. Only little guys I really cared about (until the Stars, guess they don't really count though). -NotS
  14. It feels weird to me having lived with canisters all my life... I guess it's easy to get used to, but when you think about the intricate design of every BIONICLE box and pair them with the standard, unoriginal ziplock bag... Egh, guess I wouldn't be thinking like this if I wasn't born in the BIONICLE era haha. -NotS
  15. 3/5, I'm liking it. Nice building, pretty cool progression through the song. The distortion of the vocals paired with the almost "classic" instrumental gives it a very unique sound. Thank You Summer Love - KARA
  16. Kamen Rider: Battride War Premium TV Sound Edition (Pretty awesome game actually, Kamen Rider Meteor's combos are amazing). I'm also playing Back to the Future the game and DJ MAX TECHNIKA TUNE (Probably the best rhythm handheld game ever!)
  17. My favourite has to be MGS3 Snake Eater. Great Cold War Era plot, fantastic characters, spine-chilling boss encounters and well... it arguably has the best video game theme song ever. They are all so good. Revengeance was really fun as well and the whole story was so goofy that I couldn't help but find myself immersed in it. The whole series is so full of strange and confusing plot-twists, but that's what makes it so entertaining! MGSV looks great and Kiefer as Big Boss was the right pick IMO. I hope this means David Hayter will cameo as Solid Snake, because face it - Kojima isn't letting him loose THAT easily.
  18. Most of these aren't mistakes but more stylistic choices and/or reference items used because the artist could not find a source to illustrate off of. So in the case of Malum - Stuart, the artist, probably was told to have Malum roam the wastelands with a separate weapon, and he thought the Cordak Blaster design could work. Also, maybe he had not seen an image of Robo-Mata Nui. All inconsistencies, but it doesn't really have to do with mistakes. -NotS
  19. Yeah but Krekka is a... Actually come to think of it... Yeah, you're right... STOP RUINING MY CHILDHOOOOOOD!!!! -NotS
  20. I have a feeling Chima and Ninjago will be fairly short lived - maybe 3-4 years? Like most other brick-based themes. That's how it seems to work with that format. Keep things fresh. Of course, a spiritual successor will appear in the future shortly after. As for Hero Factory - seems like its pretty successful and I would expect another couple of years as it tries to fill in the shoes of BIONICLE (though storyline is a lot more simplified). There is a huge amount of new advertising for all lines like multiple video game adaptations and consistent television show episodes, so that may lengthen the life-time of each. -NotS
  21. Well... at least I know the story didn't just die in the flames abruptly. Some nice tidbits and clarification here. Thanks man! I miss Greg's work dearly. -NotS
  22. The old grey looked really washed out... faded almost. If the idea was to appeal to the focus groups that makes sense. But I definitely prefer the older dark gray to the infamous "bley". Granted, it wasn't a BAD colour... just overused. So much. -NotS
  23. Oh man... I'm sad just thinking about it. Tahu Star. Whenever I walk into a LEGO store or see LEGO at a store or whatever, I always have that overwhelming feeling of nostalgia... Maybe I should buy a new set just to relive some old memories... but I have to save up cash! -NotS
