  1. I liken it to the ending of Xenoblade: I believe Mata Nui wanted to create a world with no need for gods. One where the species of Spherus Magna could thrive and evolve of their own will, rather than of some pre-determined destiny.
  2. I had no idea he was considered rare. Like many US-store-exclusives, here in the UK he was made available anywhere like any other set
  3. Are you looking for physical copies specifically? Because the BioMediaProject has iso files of them. If you are looking for physical copies, then good luck!
  4. Not to rain on anyone's parade, but this seems more like the start of a fanfiction than a headcanon. The exact line between them is blurred, but the general consensus is that a headcanon 'fills in the blanks' of existing canon, whereas a fanfiction tells its own story. Consider changing the topic name?
  5. Correct me if I'm wrong, but isn't The Legend Reborn on Netflix in HD? I'd love if they upgraded all the Netflix versions to HD. Like others have said, HD versions do exist, at least higher definition than the DVDs. It's common practice to render the movie to cinema standards, even if it's not intended for cinema, and then scale it down to fit on physical media.
  6. Actually, in G1 at least, they were around 7' 2". They are approximately 1.6 bio tall, and each bio is 4.5 feet, so 1.6 * 4.5 = 7.2, which works out to 7 feet, 2 and 13/32 inches. Still, that was G1, as far as I know we don't have a canon height for the G2 Toa.
  7. I wonder who drew these storyboards? I gotta go check those movie credits. What I find very interesting is the way the artist drew the characters' faces, making Sidorak look kinda goofy and Roodaka much more snake-like in appearance.
  8. Wow, these are really well drawn! Although, I worry the admins may find them a bit too innuendo-heavy for the boards
  9. That number... doesn't seem right to me. 2001: 6 Toa + 6 Turaga + 5 Rahi = 17 sets (23 if you count the 6 McDonalds Matoran) 2002: 6 Bohrok +6 Bohrok Va + 6 Toa Nuva + 3 Titans + 1 Fikou = 22 sets 2003: 6 Bohrok Kal + 6 Rahkshi + 6 Kohlii Matoran + 4 Titans = 22 sets 2004: 6 Toa Metru + 6 Vahki + 6 Matoran + 4 Titans = 22 sets 2005: 6 Rahaga + 6 Visorak + 6 Toa Hordika + 2 Toa Hagah + 3 Titans = 23 sets (27 if you count the 4 system playsets) 2006: 6 Piraka + 6 Matoran + 6 Toa Inika + 4 Titans = 22 sets (26 if you count the 4 system playsets) (TOO MANY if you count all the good guy/bad guy variations) 2007: 6 Barraki + 6 Toa Mahri + 4 Matoran/Hydruka + 6 Titans = 22 sets (25 if you count the 3 system playsets) 2008: 6 Phantoka + 6 Mistika + 6 Matoran + 3 Titans + 5 Vehicles + 1 Klakk = 27 sets 2009: 6 Agori + 6 Gatorian + 6 Glatorian Legends + 3 Titans + 5 Vehicles + 1 Click = 27 sets 2010: 6 Stars 2015: 6 Protectors + 6 Toa + 4 Skull Villains + 2 Titans = 18 sets 2016: 6 Toa + 6 Creatures + 4 Beasts + 3 Titans = 19 sets [EDIT: Kopaka and Melum are one set, meaning 2016 only has 18 sets. Whoops!] So yes, while the reboot currently has less average sets per year than G1, at 18.5 vs. 22.6 (excluding Stars), G1 did not generally have anywhere close to 30 sets per year.
  10. Yup, that's Disneyland! That was the best picture of a Christmas-decorated street in the mid-20th-century I could find. Doc's tiny mouth was a product of the really bad drawing habit I have of filling in details before getting general proportions correct, and I suppose the same could be said about manly Tahu For some reason, I never even considered that Doc was meant to be a variation of Vakama. The Huna probably should have been the first sign. Once again, thanks for letting me post this! I look forward to future instalments of your comics!
  11. Big thanks to the recipient, Tahu3.0, for letting me use his characters from 'Back to BIONICLE' in this image! Thanks to the BZPower.com Secret Santa programme, I had an opportunity to create a gift for a real nice guy here on the message boards, Tahu3.0. I wondered what to make for him, so I looked through his post history, and saw that he draws a comic called 'Back to BIONICLE', a thinly-veiled Back to the Future parody with some charming characters. So charming, in fact, that I decided to base my gift to him on these characters. From left to right, we have Tahu 3.0, Hahli 2.0 and 'Doc'. Since Doc hasn't featured since the author started drawing in colour, I had to guess his colour scheme. So, for inspiration, I looked to another Back to the Future parody: Rick and Morty. I think Rick's colours look quite good on Doc, it makes him look like a Ko-Matoran. Fun fact: This picture is anachronism stew, Hahli 2.0 (and later, Tahu 3.0) lives in 1979, yet she has a class of '81 shirt, and the background picture I used (here) shows a street in the '60s. Continuity!
  12. I think someone's opinion of later BIONICLE years is heavily influenced by when they joined the story - I see a lot of 'Golden Years' veterans disliking the 2008-2010 arcs, whereas many 2004-introduced fans like myself enjoy the more technical-focused aspects. Sure, the story took some odd twists and turns along its journey, but I think Greg and the rest of the story team did the best they could with the limited creative freedom they had. 'Makuta' becoming a species rather than a single being isn't what bothers me, per se, rather, I dislike the way Makuta were cheapened following the Phantoka's introduction. Before 2008, multiple Toa teams had difficulty subduing one Makuta, but then one Toa team can fend off up to 8 Makuta at a time? Granted, I think it goes to show how much of an elite Teridax was, but I can't help but feel the Conservation of Ninjitsu is in full effect. And, like others above, I do take issue with the choice of words describing the Mata Nui Robot - perhaps the Great Spirit Colossus would have been more fitting?
  13. I saw your post in 'Matoran culture: Politeness', never thought you'd incorporate drunk Skakdi into a story so fast though!
  14. When you can read or write Matoran at a half-decent pace When you take your Bionicle books to University with you instead of more videogames
  15. ... Also, do we really want to bother him with this? Hence why I brought up the idea very cautiously Still, it's a better question than a lot of the stuff that gets asked on his topic. At least MoC G1 has actual story significance, unlike say, the Kanohi of the unnamed ice Toa in Lhikan's team.
  16. This all makes far too much sense. Not sure I wanna play devil's advocate here, but I wonder what GregF's thoughts on the matter are?
  17. Very nice! Love the dark atmosphere, really intriguing. And who can say no to Bohrok?
  18. I have nothing but respect for the man, pouring so much time into serials, Q&As and other unpaid work to flesh out the story and satisfy fans. True, his writing isn't perfect, but given the constraints he was put under by the sets and the rest of the story team, I think he did a fantastic job. 1. I always thought it was a product of the world the characters lived in, that they appeared so jaded and cynical. Although, I really think stories that took place before the Great Cataclysm could've done with a bit more friendliness between Toa. 2. This one can't really be pinned on Greg. TSO's name doesn't exist, one was never approved from LEGO if memory serves. Besides, unused character names are carried over into the next toyline. I'm pretty sure all the names we have so far are all he's allowed to use in regards to G1.
  19. Since I pretty much grew up with BIONICLE (from my 7th birthday, in fact, when I got Nokama Metru) it's become something that I just accept as part of normal life, and my friends and family have been totally cool with it too. I honestly have no problem keeping the novels sitting proud on my shelf and a Tahu picture as my desktop background, and no-one else seems to have an issue with it either
  20. Signed! I really hope this goes through. As was said before, scientific discoveries have been named ridiculous things before, and besides, PK 329-02.2 will always be its scientific name. And who wouldn't want a star system named after one from their favourite franchise?
  21. I'm currently brute-forcing my way through the site via an url-guessing program. There seem to be a LOT of hidden php and html files. Basically, I don't see any way to create an offline version without editing the source code. Any news on finding the creators?
  22. Similar to the Mask of Undeath, I always wondered what the purpose of the Tryna was. It re-animates corpses as long as the wearer is concentrating hard enough... sounds cool, but if the Red Star was functioning properly (even while broken, the teleport-up function still worked) then there shouldn't have been any corpses to re-animate. Again, depending on how long the delay was between death and teleportation, this could have at least some use... but it's still very situational.
  23. First things first, this isn't a subreddit you might wanna check over your text before copy/pasting it into another board. Back on topic though, this is a tricky one to answer. AMEET's been sitting on those publishing rights for, what, 5, 6 years now? And since they obviously don't have any plans to republish, that might be of use. However, if AMEET works like any other publishing business I know of, they aren't just gonna hand over any text that they could hypothetically republish and make money off. Perhaps a better strategy could be to find out how much they value said publishing rights at, and set up some crowdfunding to purchase the rights off of them? Now, that plan likely is full of holes, I just thought of it on the fly, but it's a possibility.
