Tillian rolled his eyes from the water and, with a flick of his finger, increased the gravity of the surfboard tenfold, dunking it with the Toa of Air still lounging atop it.

IC: Asa

:Possibly. He did seem hesitant to answer.: Asa scanned the crowd; who could it have been? The Crystal Toa showing off to Daijuno? The grey colored being that had not spoken a single word this whole time? Or was it one of their earlier escorts; the Chaotic marine, the people on the boat, the over-eager red Toa. Maybe even the individual who seemed to be in charge; if anybody, it would be that person. "Huh..."

:Should I press for the truth? My Willhammer is very weak but it should be sufficient for his mind.:

The Le-Toa let out a surprised yelp before vanishing beneath the waves, but when the surfboard surfaced, the doctor did not. Seconds stretched into minutes, and the doctor still didn't return to the surface. Nor did a glance down indicate where she might have been.

IC:

.:I don't think we should press. This is a diplomatic situation..:. A pause. .:.. But we can't let it go without detection. Asa, could you watch for where it's coming from?:.

Tillian squinted his eyes and peered down into the clear waters of Naho Bay; when he found no sign of Liara he sighed and, after one deep breath, inhaled and held his breath.

.:Yes ma'am. Will do.:. Asa focused on the mental plane, searching for the aberrations that Sinshi had highlighted. Would Sinshi's... accusation flush the individual in question out?

"Too easy. No fun when you see it coming."

The Le-Toa had silently surfaced a few feet behind him, treading water with efficient, graceful movements of her limbs. The doctor roller her eyes, looking almost disappointed. "I'll have to come up with some new tricks."

"I'm not exactly a dunce anymore." Tillian grinned and lazily kicked back against his surfboard, putting his elbow's up on the board's surface and staring at Liara. We have the same color eyes. Skyra's had been green, almost commonplace. Emotia's...

His brow furrowed and he got a sick feeling in his gut when he realized he couldn't remember. Blue? Golden? Was...did they turn blue when...what color was her Mark? Desperate, the sudden squall of panic doubled when he realized he couldn't call to mind what her mask was, either. Her face kept turning into Skyra's, or Hari's, or Naona's, with even some of Krayn and Dehkaz and Dorian - Dorian! - in the mix. When he tried to think of Emotia, only Liara came to mind. The memories of the living had smothered Emotia's shade, and left him only memories that were as distorted and murky as his own face, shaking about in the water.

"I want to thank you for all of it," he said, surprised at how thick with emotion his voice was. "You're my best friend. It's been so long since I had a legit friend...even Skyra and I just ended up growing apart, and the Sentinels..."

"That's not something you have to thank me for." In the span of a second, with a combination of movements, Liara had propelled herself across the few feet between them. She bumped into the Ba-Toa lightly, wrapping her arms around him and tucking his head into the crook of her neck. She was quiet a moment, just using her Kanohi to generate enough upward force to keep them afloat. She patted him on the back, humming quietly to herself.

"You've been the best friend that I've got, and you deserve to have a friend as good. You got me, so apparently the universe hates you, but that's beside the point." She pulled away slightly so she could look at him. "Chin up. You're back in Ga-Koro, and it's a beautiful day."

IC:

"The mental plane is how we use our abilities. Every person has a unique feel to them." Sinshi explained simply, looking to Shajs. "There's a presence here that doesn't match any of the crew, nor any method of communication. It isn't open enough to be Ideatalk, but not subtle enough for WIllhammer. Simply put, it's wrong. But it's there."

"You've already had to say that once to cheer me up." Tillian put one hand on Liara's cheek, wrapping his fingers around the back of her head and trying to put on a smile with as much luster as before. "I know, I know. I'm a melancholy sack of . Sorry for ruining the moment."

Tillian reflexively activated his Kadin and shot out from underwater like a bullet, head crammed into Liara's abdomen as though he'd headbutted her up into the sky.

IC: Kalyss looked over at Vakua, who glanced back. She shrugged, and Vakua nodded. Adjusting his headphones for his sensitive hearing, and his tinted visor, he made his way through the crowd to the Dasaka warrior, projecting his thoughts into the unreadable mind.

I would not call it wrong, per say, given that this is the only way I can communicate. My name is Vakua, Toa of Sonics. My Kanohi was granted to me because of my peculiar condition.

The times, they are a-changing...

"Mata-tu...? ... There is a mask that allows you to utilize the Mindarm discipline?"

.:If we found a bunch of those and took them home, the Mindarms would be incensed, but everybody else would be over the moon.:.

Then the grey Toa stepped forward. Asa felt the aberrations again... It was him.

Those words made Shajs visibly uncomfortable. He'd only heard it in rumors, and back-room drivel in the bars of Xa-Koro, and the near the odd shrines that once stood hidden in its alleyways. The powers of Makuta, it was spoken of hushed tones, were once able to warp the mind and earth, twist the body and eat the soul. He knew Makuta had immense power, but took such wild stories with a degree of skepticism.  Especially considering the mouths they came out of. The superstitious sailor part of his mind began to buzz with worry. Perhaps Makuta had granted unholy powers to a servant or many, perhaps something unknown to the all was out there. The ideas swirled, but he kept it to himself. As Shajs had no intention of being discredited as crazy...

"Yessa, there'a is a mask that'a allows ya to use such powers," he said. "Was'a it of ill intent, ma'am?"

OOC: The reaction here requires a little explaining, because otherwise it seems a little strange. Here is the post wherein Nuju discusses the Suletu. It's also the most convenient place I can link to indicate the preexisting canon that in Dasakan culture, what Vakua just did is considered the height of rudeness, if not confrontational. :P

IC:

Sinshi recoiled, on every level. Physically her hand flew to her rapier, withdrawing the crystalline blade half an inch from its sheath as she instinctively moved her feet to a ready stance. Mentally she pushed back as hard as she knew how, which given her specialization was relatively little, and threw up the barriers she knew how to erect. Her intake of air sounded like a hiss, her eyes fixing on the silver Toa in front of her with indignation. Her words, when they came, reverberated instinctively on the mental plane as well as the physical.

"Get out of my head. Now."

IC:

"Whoa!" The Le-Toa gasped, as she suddenly found her a good few feet higher above the water than she had been a few minutes ago, and not of her own accord. "Uh, Til, no need to break orbit."

OOC: Looks like I kinda got left behind a bit here.

IC: Vakua looked over Mirra's replication of the Dasaka's crystal armor. Asking her to be a test subject would probably be easier than getting a newcomer...

Mirra, do you mind if I test something on that armor you made?

IC: Mirra.

Mirra was startled by the unexpected voice in her head, and it took her a few moments to respond. Ah... Sure... She thought back.

IC (Akimoto)

Tension hummed in the air. The atmosphere had been peaceful and curious until now; in an instant, the Dasaka were wary and ready to fight, hands on weapons, and minds preparing to launch an assault.

Aki didn't know what'd happened, but something had obviously gone wrong.

OOC: Yes, that is what I have been going off of, with the addition that Vakua cannot passively perceive the thoughts of Dasaka, as Ce-Matoran's 'passive' use of the element is that they cannot be affected mentally. And I apologize for leaving Mirra hanging. I think Vakua has communicated with Wisp at some point, though, so I thought he would have told her. Or someone would have told her, or she would have asked when they stayed at interrogation overnight and Vakua never said anything. Ever.

IC: Vakua recoiled. He had gotten some bad reactions before, but nothing like this. Sensing Mirra's response, he replied: Hold on. I might need to use it in a second.

Kalyss immediately started pushing through the crowd when the Dasaka spoke angrily at Vakua.

"Hey!" she shouted. "What's your problem with my brother?"

The times, they are a-changing...

"Get out of my head. Now."

Something was wrong. Shajs hadn't the slightest idea what it was, but one of the Dasaka seemed to be having a sudden breakdown, reaching to the hilt of her blade. The Marine quietly stepped to the side, and grabbed the hilt of his mortuary sword. He wouldn't use it, unless he absolutely had to, but if he had to kill this Dasaka to save the rest of them, he would do so.

"Ma'am," he said firmly. "Isa everya'thing okay?"

IC: Wisp.

Over by the dockside, Wisp heard shouting from the direction Mirra had gone in. He started walking back towards the commotion.

IC: Mirra.

Mirra frowned at the angry newcomer. If they could get into other people's heads whenever they wanted to, what right did they have to get mad when someone else did it?

Okay... she replied to Vakua.

"Huh?" Tillian looked down and slowly they both started to touch down again; when Til landed the waves lapped at his left ankle. "Sorry. Got carried away."

He laughed, and kept laughing until she started to follow, and then the Toa of Gravity leaned down to kiss her.

IC (Dakte)

In a silent heartbeat, Dakte was behind Shajs. The warrior male had shifted into position, his movement deceptively relaxed, but every muscle in his body was prepared to move as fast as a striking mantis. He knew his ninjato was already loose in its sheathe at his back.

After years of watching the Sado social minefield from the sidelines, Dakte could read a person's intentions better than most, and he saw in the Skakdi's body language that the hand on his sword was not wholly for Sinshi's protection. Shajs was ready to deal death if necessary.

And so was he.

IC Girah:

Looking to the Dashi companions for an explanation at the sudden hostilities, Girah ducked slightly. Looking over to them, the now quavering Matoran asked "What just happened? Why is everyone so upset all of the sudden?" This was utterly insane to him. Toa were charging, the Dasksa looked ready to massacre them all right then and there, and him, a simple Matoran of simple pleasures was caught right in the middle.

Budge, as soon as hands went to weapons, darted over to Girah, nearly knocking over Datke in the process. Ducking behind the Matoran, tail between legs, and ears flush to the skull, Budge cowered. Girah swallowed hard, putting his hands in the air in a universal symbol of innocence. Budge began to whimper a bit, as if the Rahi could feel the agitation in the air.

Essie: "Small talk subroutine complete. Were my useless vocalizations inane enough to bring you a sense of comfort?"

"Tillian Juturna, think for a moment. We've known each other about two years. In that time I've patched you up more times than I can count, hung out with you, gone drinking with you, and snarked the whole way. In all of that time..." The Le-Toa poked his chest, breaking free to flit back a few feet and grin. "Have you ever, in all that time, gotten me to knock it off?"

"You don't have to answer, I already know it."

Asa turned to face Shajs.

"Sir, what I believe happened is as such/

That 'Toa' possesses a Kanohi/

If that us the secret to his power/

Granting him similar abilities/

To us, but distinct enough to be seen.

I believe his telepathy has had/

A negative effect on Sindhi's mind.

I request that you remove him from us/

And I will tend to Madam Sindhi's health."
