Chro
I've said too much!... nah, kidding. I was actually referring to the fact that it's going to take several rounds to finish off the last of the Mafia and due to player inactivity I don't think it's going to be done fast. I might've overestimated though. Quote save not only their lives but their spirits
Xaeraz
Honestly, the mafia is probably gonna win XIX because of villager inactivity. That or the game is gonna quietly die out due to it. 1 Quote All are not the same But three shall be as one Freedom in the flame The end has just begun

Seaborgium
I must admit I was a bit disappointed with the twist. It really nullified the first game. Basically, it meant that what everyone did in the first game was rather pointless. There was no skill involved in getting the constant, so how well we played the first game was irrelevant. It would be like playing a game of chess, only to learn the real goal to have the most pawns, or playing poker only to learn that what really mattered was how many clubs you had in your hand. Yes, how we played the first game effected the second, but only tangentially so. Any planning, plotting, lying, bluffing, bandwagoning, etc. was made less important than getting the constant. It's really just two games packaged as one, but the first treated like it weren't really the "real" game. Maybe if the twist had been revolutionary or changed the dynamics of the game I mightn't have minded so much that it nullified the first game. But really, all it did was nullify the first game and peg on a second. Sure the second game had an odd way signing up players, and I like the drifter role(but that could have been a role in the first game), but that's it. The constant itself was essentially a red herring, as it didn't change the way either of the two games was played. You were a very good host, and I don't mean to insult your hosting ability, but the twist was rather to my chagrin.
Voltex
I fully realized the nature of the twist when I created it - I designed it as such intentionally. I did not want to fundamentally change how the game was played; I wanted to return to the basics, and it shows in the roles (even the Drifter is merely the regular Serial Killer role with a different label). I wanted a twist that could naturally make a game twice as big as it would be otherwise, a twist that could shake up not only how players sign up for games, but how players approach games, and approach the twists in said games. Every twist before now has radically changed that game and how it is played. I wanted a twist that did the opposite. I understand the frustration regarding how players had to reach the Constant, but there's not really any possible way to quantify when a player should be deemed good enough at a particular game to reach it. Had I gone that route, very few of the village players would have made it in - Xaeraz, Blade, Taka and Chro were the only members of the village that seemed to be thinking strategically and analyzing the scenes. As far as how important Phase 1 was... I'd say that it was of vital importance. Players have already voted, killed, investigated, or saved other players based upon what occurred during Phase 1, because it's the same host and the same game and there's no precedent for that. Have I given the roles to all new players? Have some players kept their roles? Have some players switched roles? Those are the kinds of questions that everyone is asking themselves, and they are making their plans based upon the answers they arrive at. Phase 1 has also highlighted a variety of different possible player types and styles - and with Phase 2 functioning almost exactly the same (but now without the option to change votes), players can also make predictions based upon those. 2 Quote JOIN AETHERGARDE

Valendale
I would say to look at the last 40+ player game. Sure, you could have the game be able to accommodate that number of players, but don't count on having that many, or even put that many player spots in to start with. Especially since the most recent game was unable to even get 20 players. Edited December 11, 2014 by Valendale

Voltex
Yo, so, question for everyone. How do you feel about the notion of Red Sea being a massive game? As in, literally 40+ players? I think it's best to go in with lower expectations, and then open it up as more players come in. Part of the reason so many players ended up wanting to join XIX was because there were originally only 19 spots, which was several less than what has become the norm. I would say to look at the last 40+ player game. Sure, you could have the game be able to accommodate that number of players, but don't count on having that many, or even put that many player spots in to start with. Especially since the most recent game was unable to even get 20 players. Hey nowI'm pretty sure XIX got to 30 players easily thank you very much [yes i'm aware that you were not referring to the last main series game] Quote JOIN AETHERGARDE
Xaeraz
Sigh. Red Sea might not live up to its planned glory then. I'd have to cut roles and dramatically alter the twist of it if it was just 20 or so people. Toarobot18
Especially since the most recent game was unable to even get 20 players. Well, if you're referring to my game, I think it's worth noting that it got ten players within the first half a day, and then no additional players at all after it was revealed it had not been endorsed here. So I think Xaeraz would probably be able to get at least twenty just fine. Quisoves Potoo
Especially since the most recent game was unable to even get 20 players. So I think Xaeraz would probably be able to get at least twenty just fine. Twenty is quite reasonable. It's also important to keep in mind the reputation of the host. Voltex, for example, is a comparatively long-time, celebrated host, and it is thus no surprise that his two most recent games filled up fairly quickly. I don't know how renowned Xaeraz is, but I suspect that if he hyped Red Sea sufficiently, he could acquire forty players in the course of a week. Assuming, that is, there are enough active regulars and potential new players. The main problem, to my mind, is those players remaining active. Forty is a large enough number of players that inactivity could really cripple the game. Quote (Credit to Nik the Three for the banner)
Xaeraz
It's not a sterling host rep, considering the last two games were both plagued by complications from Real Life and my depression, but I'm medicated now and have already begun putting scene basics together that just need to be fleshed out. Xaeraz
It's simple, really. A cruise to the Southern Sea, stopping at various islands along the way for sightseeing and fun is hijacked by a group of criminals who want to kill everyone aboard. Special nautical themed roles appear and change up the game, and a huge Twist dramatically alters the game, making it unlike any other game of Bionicle Mafia to date. 1 Quote All are not the same But three shall be as one Freedom in the flame The end has just begun
