Waaja
I know this thread is kind of already existant, but I;d like to make a list of those colour parts that are really easy to break when handling. Kinda helps with MOCing and stuff... so here I go:-Edit: Has been changed to fit both cloour and specific years. (Thanks Sumiki)(updated as of 5/11/2011)1) Lime Green ( 2007 onwards) (Glatorian hands)2) Metru Grey (2008 onwards)---> what about those on Inika Nuparu?3) Black (2008-2009)4) Keetorange (2007-2009)*5) Dark Red (Maroon?) (2009-2010)6) Dark Green (2009-2010) (Glatorian hands)*: need for further verification (if it's a common thing or an exception..)Anymore suggestions? Sumiki
I've found that it's not the color, but the color and the year. 2007 and 2008 lime break a lot for me, as well as Keetorange from those years. 2009 Keetorange was problematic, since a number of them broke when I recently deconstructed my Titan Mata Nui.Metru gray from 2008 also likes to break a lot.I have found that lubricating open ball joint with saliva (I know, it sounds gross, bear with me though) and then twisting the ball joint to lubricate the interior of the joint, and finally gently pulling apart, has helped save some crack-prone parts. It doesn't always work, but it works enough for me to bear its disgustingness and keep doing it. avatar by Lady Kopaka
That Matoran with a Vahi
2008 lime, of course, has always been a problem for me, as, I've found, has been '09 black. I found a fair few cracked ones of them - although not as horribly mangled as the lime ones - as I was disassembling my '09 sets to sell on eBay ^^" "New legends awake, but old lessons must be remembered. Ghosthands
Any ball joint from 2008 onwards. I find that if you ease them on slowly, so they don't snap on, can save them. Also, all lime green from 2007 onwards. Every friend of mine who owns Hahli Mahri has had at least two of her pieces snap. Akuna Toa of Sonics
Aside from the blatantly obvious 2007 lime green parts, the 2008-2010 canister limbs were ridiculously brittle; they started snapping after taking a set apart only a few times. Does anyone want to play the Master Chief Collection with me? I'm trying to get a team going for ranked. PM for GT.

Aris621
Yes, those Lime Green pieces will always break by me. I had to call LEGO 5 times to ask them if i could get some extra pieces for Toa Hahli Mahri or Ehlek...
GeluNumber1
Lime Green, and 2008 to 2010 break a lot for me. Why are orange and black such a good color Combination ? Purple is pretty, and so is blue. Pink hurts your eyes, green is quite mellowing, black is very threatning, red is cool, orange is SO awesome, yellow's hard to read... But you can't see white at all! Oh, wait. I forgot brown. Here's my thoughts: If a person tells the truth and says, " I always lie," Is he lying? Or is he telling the truth? And what has a mouth, but no head, and a body, but no torso? Do caterpillars like to tend to supporting colum of stone's every need? Or is that name misleading by nature? Speaking of nature, why are the children of animals called offspring? don't many young beasts come alive in spring, and thus, should be called onspring? Heeeeeeyy..... I got the first post on a page for the first time. Who knows; it may happen again. What the... It did happen again... and again... YEAH! I'M ENCOUNTERING PROTODERMIS! The First Speaker
The black hand pieces from 2008 gave me some problems. At least two of the ones that came with Onua are either cracked or broken.
Power Of Gresh
Lime green from several years broke for me... 2009-10 I had black and some dark red pieces snap. Oh yeah, my Toa Pohatu(Phantoka) leg broke completely, the socket was pretty much unusable, I super glued it but you can't move the joint without it falling off again. That piece was grey. Just because my sig is confusing Doesn'tmean it doesn't seem strangely awesome. how will you read this when it is invisible? But now you won't get just bits and pieces of something, then it would be something completly different.? Just highlight it to reveal the secret! It can be quite interesting... ~Power of Gresh~ If you can solve the Rubik's Cube in under a minute, PM me!

Ehlekdude
I find that apart from the 2007 lime and 2008 grey both dark and lime green Glatorian fists would break often.

vulpelibrorum
Toa Lessovikk's lime parts have caused me a great deal of frustration over the years. For the most part though, I've been pretty fortunaute as far as durability of parts.

Peach 00
Lime parts were always brittle and easy to snap, although I never had that problem with Lesovikk. Only happened with Hahli Mahri. =/ On the day the wall came down / They threw the locks onto the ground And with glasses high / We raised a cry / For freedom had arrived On the day the wall came down / The ship of fools had finally run aground Promises lit up the night / Like paper doves in flight I dreamed you had left my side / No warmth, not even pride remained And even though you needed me / It was clear that I could not do a thing for you Now life devalues day by day / As friends and neighbors turn away And there's a change that even with regret / Cannot be undone Now frontiers shift like desert sands / While nations wash their bloodied hands Of loyalty, of history / In shades of grey I woke to the sound of drums / The music played, the morning sun streamed in I turned and I looked at you / And all but the bitter residues slipped away slipped away... Guest TahuOmega
Any piece 2008 and after seems to break easily in my opinion. But lime-green pieces seem to have a better likely-hood.

glazios
I have broken trans-orange pieces of Jaller Inika.Sort of relevant to discussion, I know they don't make purple parts much because they're too brittle...This. I've had quite a few of them break on me very recently; I ordered a good 5 or 6 of them via BrickLink, and since they arrived, every last one of them has broken at the socket, just from connecting the ball the first time, and always just on the one side. Disconnecting the ball then breaks the socket completely. Such a waste. =/ My Lego Network: http://mln.lego.com/en-us/Publicview/glazios.aspxMy Bionicle-based creations on DeviantArt: http://glazios.deviantart.com/gallery/
Aanchir
Sort of relevant to discussion, I know they don't make purple parts much because they're too brittle...No, as I understand it the reason for so few purple parts is because it's hard to keep purple colors consistent (i.e. for every batch of purple parts, there will be more rejected by quality control for being outside the acceptable range than with other colors). I've never heard any reports of purple parts being more brittle than others.Of course, another reason is just that purple is often considered a "girly" color and so probably doesn't test as well as some other colors with most LEGO themes' core audience of young boys. Currently there are three purple colors in production: 268 Medium Lilac, 324 Medium Lavender, and 325 Lavender. And all three are used fairly frequently in the LEGO Friends theme. However, more boy-oriented themes like Hero Factory and Ninjago use them only occasionally in small splashes. The reason they don't make "classic" purple parts (104 Bright Violet), of course, is that the color was discontinued many years ago. Makuta Almanax
Everything from 2008-2010. 2008-2010 joints are really brittle. Exactly as these two said, in my experience the colour has no real influence. Just any piece which is a socket and was made from the Inika/Mahri years until the first Hero Factory year are extremely brittle and as such the most annoying parts to deal with. Especially prevalent in Glatorian heads, Av-Matoran heads and limbs and of course arm/leg connectors. It began with Hahlii Mahri for me and the rest all followed suit over time. Now I doubt it'd be possible to rebuild the 2007-10 sets even if I could gather their parts from my collection because of the snapped joints being discarded.
