-Windrider- Posted February 21, 2015 Posted February 21, 2015 (edited) If you have fond memories of the How-to BZP series on the BZPowercast, well, it's going to come back - this time on Blu-ray and digital HD as a video series. While there is no set release date yet, I would like to begin recording. And to do that, I am asking for suggestions on what topics to cover. The topics can be things such as posting topics and replies, reporting, or BBCode manipulation. But whatever it may be, it should be able to translate well to a visual format. (That is, something like explaining a certain forum's rules would probably be very boring to watch.) Once released, I'll keep a list of the videos and topics covered here. Toa Smoke Monster Posted February 21, 2015 Posted February 21, 2015 I think a video going over what should be reported would be helpful. Another suggestion I have would be a video about Proto. I don't know if either of these would be that helpful, but I'm just throwing suggestions in the hat. Quote Everyone is one choice away from being the bad guy in another person's story.
Makuta Luroka Posted February 21, 2015 Posted February 21, 2015 The entire Q&A compendium as one video. 1 Quote
Sumiki Posted February 21, 2015 Posted February 21, 2015 Might be good to go over the signature guidelines and show the editing page. Going over a few simple rules might help cut down on unintentional violations. 2 Quote avatar by Lady Kopaka
Ford Posted February 21, 2015 Posted February 21, 2015 Signature guidelines and uploading photos directly to BZP instead of linking to them would be good to go over. Quote http://i.imgur.com/kbP5Svg.gifhttp://i.imgur.com/O8CcqC5.pnghttp://i.imgur.com/kbP5Svg.gif
ChocolateFrogs Posted February 21, 2015 Posted February 21, 2015 I think guides for BrickShelf, BrickLink, and other online LEGO resources would be extremely cool and helpful. What other sites would people like explained the ins and outs of? -CF Quote
Makuta Luroka Posted June 15, 2015 Posted June 15, 2015 Now that Wind is back on staff, I reckon we should cover revival limits and what goes in which forum first. Quote
Prowl Nightwolf Posted June 15, 2015 Posted June 15, 2015 Wow this is a really weird topic. While I understand why Wind posted it, I didn't think I'd ever see a day when a staff would ask a question about the forum... Ideas... some of the basic site commands would be a good opener such as locations of direct information like how to get to and from your profile and user control panel. I know this seems like a "For dummies" topic but may as start with the beginning and work your way up to the more complex topics. Changing avatars, Adding images to signatures and limitations such as what formats are and are not allowed. I've gotten few "That extension is not allowed" when trying to post an image in a topic. These are just some ideas... JMSOG Posted June 16, 2015 Posted June 16, 2015 (That is, something like explaining a certain forum's rules would probably be very boring to watch.) I disagree...you could probably have a lot of fun with these...have someone "break a rule" as a skit as an example of what NOT to do (Metus is writing his signiture, as well as an enthusiastic endorsement of Tuma's skrall army conquring Bara Magna. Metus is doing it wrong.") also: maybe a video demonstrating what topics go into what forums. 3 Quote Hi. If you remember me from when I was most active on BZP, from 2009-2011... I know I was cringy. But please keep in mind I was literally 12.
evil_jaga_genius Posted June 16, 2015 Posted June 16, 2015 How to post a blog. I don't see any handy button that says "Click to start a new blog!" or something like that... You know, that would be interesting, to set up a dummy account called "Rule Breaker" or something to demonstrate this and other things. But I think I'd rather set an example of what best to do and not what not to do. But for things like showing how and when to report, it might be a good idea not to make an example of someone on the forums. Anyway, thanks for the thoughts, everyone. And yes, now that I'm back, I would like to start this up. Quote
Naota Takizawa Posted June 17, 2015 Posted June 17, 2015 Off topic post: If a premier member starts a blog, but they only bought the premier perk for one week and it finishes, is the blog taken down or just stuck there until the member buys premier membership again? Anyone, this sounds like a pretty good idea, I'd love to see it happen. Quote If you like Pingu & want to support a good project, click here. Upon further review, you could go over topics in order as they appear in the compendium, as one option. Quote

Rooster Nui Posted June 17, 2015 Posted June 17, 2015 I voted for The basics of posting topics, replies, and polls. They're the main things you do in a forum like this, so I'd say go with them first before heading off to The basics of reporting violations. Quote
fishers64 Posted June 17, 2015 Posted June 17, 2015 I vote The basics of posting topics, replies, and polls as well. Quote Hero Factory RPG | Bionicle Mafia XXIX: Storyline & Theories
Naota Takizawa Posted June 17, 2015 Posted June 17, 2015 I feel neither of these options need to be explained in detail, as I've seen more difficulty with posting pictures. 1 Quote If you like Pingu & want to support a good project, click here. There needs to be a clear, accessible step-by-step guide on how to share images with Brickshelf, Imgur, the Gallery, etc. 1 Quote
-Windrider- Posted June 17, 2015 Author Posted June 17, 2015 I'm not sure covering posting images would be a good introductory video, but it's certainly something that can be treated in the series at some point. 2 Quote
-Windrider- Posted July 26, 2015 Author Posted July 26, 2015 Okay, the first video will be: "The basics of posting topics, replies, and polls." Look for it in August - yes, you; I don't care if you're a BZPower pro already. : P 4 Quote
