  1. Urgh... I feel there is now no need to post entries anymore... as no one reads this... Hmmm...

    Might as while post something...

    • Transformers: Revenge of the Fallen figures are coming out Friday at 5pm. Going to my local Walmart at 8 to pickup most of them (also, spares me the fear of seeing someone I know, which I always do :fear: )
    • My Bionicle eBay topic is up HERE, there's more to be added, though. Act quickly, the auctions added end on Wednesday :) .
    • My School Music Video (If anyone wants to hear more about it, I'll post another entry about that) is making me more popular.
    • My "crush" I mentioned a while back said no. :(
    • The other girls that have crushes on me/like me seem to be boiling down to something to say to me, since school ends soon.
    • BTW, school ends for me in 12 days (7 school days).
    That's all I have for now. =)

I may post some art later... but I don't know.

While I still have Premier I might as well post something -kinda- worth looking at.

Chapter 11 of Mask Maker has been posted, and that's all folks! It's a pretty bittersweet ending...not just for the story, but also for myself, since this is actually the largest piece of Bionicle fanfiction I've completed, and it'll likely be the last (for a good long while at least).

In a sense, this story is an attempt at bringing closure to the somewhat open-ended state in which G1 has remained since 2010, as well as a way of transitioning from G1 into G2 and beyond. That's what it is for me, at least. Thanks to everyone who has read it, and thanks to those who took the time to respond. =)

    Latest Entry

What is the purpose of this blog? Why do I write it? I think somewhere along the way, I've lost sight of that. When I started blogging aaaages ago, it was a new feature I decided to try out. A place to write down whatever happened to be in my head or recount interesting tales of real life. I then stopped updating, before reviving it some time later when I realised I had things to say. There were various subjects, mostly bionicle-related, that I had opinions on which I wanted to share. Often this was related to a topic that had been heavily debated at the time, but I was too late to contribute or felt furthering the discussion on the forum itself would be flogging a dead horse which had long since passed away and was never really mourned in the first place. So it became a receptacle for various opinions and, of course, somewhere for me to share whatever I happened to be working on at the time.

Eventually what I wanted to say was said and my inspiration started to dry up, so this became more of an everyday blog. What was happening in my life and whatever else I wanted to say at the time. Now it's more a case of "I'll find something to say when I update it." In many ways, I think these changes have reflected my mood. When I was happy to fire off long, (hopefully) intelligent-sounding entries, I was going through a very good phase. I was generally happy with life and in myself and I had inspiration enough to do it. Things have gone downhill since then possibly due to recent events but also possibly due to less-recent ones lurking at the back of my mind which I haven't managed to fully face yet. I could go into all sorts of reasons why and probably be very uncomplimentary about myself in the process, but that's not something I especially feel like putting down, least of all here.

In terms of recent events, my major concern was having some teeth out on Monday. Not exactly pleasant, and I can no longer effectively use the right side of my mouth because there's a hole there. Worse, the tooth next to it seems to have been broken during the extraction, which I am not happy about at all. I was also feeling quite ill next week to the extent that I went to A&E for fear that it might be carbon monoxide poisoning. Next door have an open fireplace which they've been told not to use, but they do anyway and it causes smoke to get in which was speculated to be a/the cause for my illness. After two blood tests (I hate needles btw) it was concluded that I was as healthy as any ill person, so was sent on my way. Fortunately I've recovered from that illness now, so it was likely nothing more than a cold/flu or something of that nature.

I'm also losing sight of any kind of purpose. When I was at school, I was there to get my grades and hopefully manage to enjoy myself along the way. This year most of my friends are already at University, I'm stuck volunteering at a charity shop and won't be going anywhere until September/October when I finally go to University which is simply too far ahead to focus on for the moment. I'd originally planned to get a job not a volunteer post, and while that would have got me some money I'm not sure how much better it would have been. When I do something in life, I need to see some sort of point in it. With a job, I would be spending most of my day there doing something I probably wouldn't enjoy so I could make money so I can...what? Spend it in the short amount of time I'm not working? Earn it so I can keep on working to earn more money to keep on working in an endless and ultimately futile cycle? For my that's not an especially pleasant prospect, so maybe I'm not cut out for a full-time job just yet. I certainly don't feel like I am. I would speculate that a job is worthless without some other goal in mind - without something else to achieve in life. This may be to live as comfortable life as possible, to raise kids, to achieve goals such as writing a book or maybe the more practical mind works because it's a necessary part of life and can be content with that. Being a former and prospective Philosophy student, I spend far too much of my time thinking about the abstract, trivial and frequently useless to maintain much of a sense of practicality in regard to life. I'm not sure that's entirely what I mean, but it makes sense in my own mind, so you're all going to have to become mind readers I'm afraid.

Anyway, this is all getting quite depressing which does no one any good. I mentioned in my last entry the possibility of doing a story based on my responses to the Glatorian. Well, I've started work on that. I have a map, and I've sketched out the detail of one of the regions and its inhabitants. I even have the barest notion of a plot forming in my mind. Whether this will amount to anything I don't know. I hope so, because I'm liking it so far. I might even decide to adapt it because right now, it bears no resemblance to Bara Magna and its story/characters whatsoever. Oh, except that there's a desert. But that's only one part of the world. I've used the Glatorian and Agori figures as templates to create my own world and characters which have nothing whatsoever to do with the official storyline, so I could potentially go one step further and remove it from Bionicle altogether. I'm hesitant to do that though, as I have by my own admission used Bionicle as more than just an influence. It would feel wrong somehow to label it as entirely my own work with so many strands drawn from the Bionicle universe, even if they're not necessarily present in my story.

As any of my friends can tell you, I've been spending a lot of time playing Half-Life 2 and related games, including something called Garry's Moderator. I don't mean Moderator of course, but the filter prevents me from using that particular word. This is a game in itself (but it requires Half-Life 2 because it uses its items, textures, maps etc) but it's not really a game game. It's the ultimate sandbox, basically. You can spawn any item from the Half-Life 2 series + other Valve games and use them how you like. To help you, the game gives you a couple of tool guns. One is the physics gun that lets you move, turn and freeze objects however you want and is a core element in building. The other is a series of tools from the menu including weld, creating wheels, keeping things upright, making them intangible and my personal favourite, ignite. It is literally designed to fuel your imagination (or your flames). You are given the tools, you are free to build whatever it is you want to build. Or you can just watch NPCs mindlessly slaughter each other. That's fun too. My friends devised something called Antlion Football. This uses a large custom-build stadium, Antlion Guards painted different colours to represent a team, a goal on each end and a football inside an invisible rollermine. The Antlions view the mine as an enemy so they charge at it, and the mine views them as enemies so it gives off a considerable charge on impact which sends the mine flying. Antlions, being the tough creatures they are, tend not to die and instead provide lots of entertainment for the onlookers.

My friend also made his own ecosystem by spawning lots and lots of different NPCs that move around by themselves onto a map and...well, seeing what happened. The game provides many amusements.

Oooh, on a good note, I visited Reading University on Wednesday. That is the University I will be going to, and they were quite smug when I visited. In December (I think), the Government published the results of something or other designed to gauge the efficiency and 'goodness' of a University's department based on its research quality. From what I gathered it's only done every few years, and involves the department sending off lots of research they've done over the years since the last one presumably, so it's quite extensive. Reading did quite well. At least, the Philosophy department did. Third in the country apparently, above both Oxford and Cambridge which for those who don't know are the country's 'elite' Universities. That got mentioned once or twice. Y'know, just in case we hadn't heard them mention it once or twice before and as a precaution should we miss them mentioning it another couple of times in the future.

You know what else I've noticed? I'm tired. I have a feeling I say this a lot in my blog entries, which says something about the time I write them. I'm not convinced just before I go to bed is the best time to write anything, but there we go.

Oh! One last thing! I've played the Beta of Dawn of War II and it left me with one question: Where's the war?

    Goodnight!

Life's been a whirlwind of some kind of magnitude, but I've been up in Canada successfully working toward my PhD. Poutine is amazing.

Even more amazing than mashed potatoes in french fry form is that after having started a relationship and working toward a life together, Aanchir (Skye) proposed on Valentine's Day! It's been an incredible feeling - warm, peaceful, and also how I end up just beaming like a dork when I get to say "my fiancée" in conversation at school and everywhere, really.

We don't have a specific time fixed for the wedding yet, since Skye's going to get everything in place to move up here permanently in place first, but consider: LEGOLAND wedding.

So today was my 18th birthday!

I don't feel any more responsible.

I had some nice cake, lots of pizza, and I got a $25 Xbox gift card plus a controller charging station!

I bought Halo 3: ODST for The Master chief collection, and funnily enough just in time to get a date-specific achievement.

I'm very happy with My Xbox One a month on. I've finished Tomb Raider and Valiant hearts (I had played them both on PC before, but it was a good excuse to replay them) , all the campaigns in the MCC (sans ODST) , and am almost done with Episode 2 of The Walking dead Season 1 (I watched a let's play of it when it was coming out, to my everlasting shame. I'm happily rectifying that mistake now though) .

I haven't played The Deer God or GOW much so far, but I'll probably get around to them eventually.

No idea what I'll do with the remaining $20 from the gift card, I'll probably wait to see if any of the deals with gold catch my eye. I'm excited to see what the GWG for next month will be, since it'll be the first month with Backwards compatibility.

Well now, so it seems that much has changed around here lately. :wakeup2:

Or maybe not. Maybe I'm just looking at it all in a different way, I dunno. Lately I find that about the only thing that keeps me coming back here is checking my inbox, which was flooded for quite some time (*curses non-permanent PMship*). I'm still somewhat active on BS01, though not for much longer, seeing as I'm preparing to leave for good. It's so hard to pull yourself away from something you're so attached to, and it'll take some work to fight the urge to go back on for just one more look at the Recent Changes. But I'll manage; it's what I do.

There's a very interesting debate topic in the Polls Forum regarding BS01 and Bioniclepedia which I've been monitoring since shortly after its creation. Looks as though it's dying now, but it was entertaining while it lasted and brought up some good points that people from both sites walked away thinking about. Time will tell if its implications have any positive affects.

I'm planning on seeing The Dark Knight this Saturday. From what I can tell it's definitely my kind of movie, and I saw (and loved) Batman Begins, so I know to expect a lot from it. Batman has always been my favorite comic book hero, and The Joker my favorite villain, and putting them both together (along with Two-Face) in a major motion picture is like a dream come true. Now, I would not be nearly as excited about this if I only knew about the pre-2005 live-action Batman movies; those sucked big time in my tastes, and had I not already been a Batman fan prior to watching them, I probably would never have had any subsequent interest in the character. Batman Begins was to me the first time anybody had ever done a live-action Batman film right; I think it and its sequel will set a new standard against which future takes (and superhero movies period) will be judged. So yeah, looking forward to it big time.

Things around my place are pretty quiet with vacation and all. There's always animals to take care of, but it's all part of the routine. Got a new puppy recently (as if we didn't have enough animals), a breed my mom has always wanted, and so far it's been great. As always, it's a female. I wish it were a male, but those of that breed (and most breeds) are more aggressive and eat more and all that jazz. I just hope the thing doesn't get too jumpy like our last dogs did; my little brother practically got dogophobia after being run over by them enough. XD

Aaaaaaaaand that's all from me. Happy anniversary, BZP. Let's hope you don't get overrun by noobs too quickly. :P

After much thinking, I feel this should be known. For the last month, I've been in a romantic relationship with former bloggie Kohaku. We've known each other for ten years and it's been a heck of a time. Why it took me so long to realize this, despite all I have done for him, isn't important.

What -is- important, is that, like I have for so long, love him very much and I hope and know this will lead to great things going on!

    Alku

  11. Hey dears! You may have noticed that I am -never- on BZP and I really don't pay attention to my messages or the forums. A lot of that is just me being a busy highschooler, but it's also cuz BZP just doesn't really hold my interest anymore. I love you guys but it's time for me to move on. My BZP premiership is going to run out soon, and I've decided that it's pointless to renew it, seeing as I rarely blog or do anything else that requires premiership.

I keep telling myself I'll eventually come up with some Bionicle art to post here, or I'll write a fic or somesuch, but really, I know that's not true. In the chance I did create something, it wouldn't get any recognition anyway, and it's just pointless and frustrating for me.

I'm not a total goner...I will check up here every once in a blue moon, see what's happenin'. But I guess this is mostly goodbye. I keep in touch with some of you outside of BZP and will continue doing so, and I will also definitely continue to be around in other venues. If you want to see what I'm up to, I'm on deviantART on a regular basis, and my account there is talebringer.deviantart.com. (I dunno if you are allowed to mention this site on BZP so QUICK HURRY LOOK BEFORE IT'S GONE.)

Anyhoo, hope everyone's had a good summer (better than mine, anyway xD)! This coming year is going to be nuts for me, but I'm determined to enjoy it, even if it means "officially" leaving this site, on which I've had lots of fun and made some wonderful friends, some of which I hope will be lifetime friends. And even if they don't turn out to be, I'll be eternally grateful to have had the opportunity to meet them because of BZP. :)

    Peace out,

  16. Visited the flea market on Sunday, managed to find a couple cool little retired pieces, including a couple Star Wars polys I needed for my collection! Overall, spend $65 Canadian; I think I did pretty well!

  17. The forums are back and we all get premier perks for a month! Yay! ^_^

I'll see what I can do about getting a new MOC posted. :)

  18. I've been wanting to get a copy of the original WALL-E set for a while now. This morning a local independent Lego store got one in and I couldn't resist!

The box is in absolutely mint condition, like it just came off the shelf - and it's staying that way! Won't be building him anytime soon, if ever. He was a bit pricey, but I traded in a few sealed sets that I had duplicates of to make the purchase more palatable.

Now I need to get the new Brickheadz version!

  20. Well, excuse my language but holy ###### was this a pleasant surprise.

I've managed to completely forget about BZP and all the great friends I made here, hadn't visited the site for just shy of a year now...heard about the "downtime" over the summer but that's the only news I'd heard about the BZP. Decided on a whim to pop in for a visit, and what is this?

Wow. New format. So much cleaner and professional looking. Can't even remember the old look, trying not to so nostalgia doesn't overwhelm me.

...I'll keep poking around. See if any oldies are still here...if any of you remember me, please give a shout. I'd love to catch up.

    Nostalgic and pleasantly surprised,

  21. Hello again, everyone. I thought I'd share the covers for some of the books I've published this year. These aren't the covers of all of my books; just the ones I like best. You can also click on each cover to check out each book's page on my website, where you can learn more about whichever book captures your interest.

Let's start with the cover for my fantasy novel, The Mage's Grave, first book in my Mages of Martir fantasy series, available in ebook and trade paperback wherever books are sold:

    TheMagesGrave-200x300.jpg

Next is the sequel, The Mage's Limits, which is also available in ebook and trade paperback wherever books are sold:

Then we move on to the third book, The Mage's Sea, which is also available wherever books are sold:

And to finish off the Mages of Martir series, here is the cover for the fourth and final book, The Mage's Ghost, which is ... well, you know the drill:

Next we move onto the covers for my newest (and still ongoing as of this writing) science-fantasy series, Two Worlds. Here's the cover for the first book, Reunification:

    Reunification-200x300.jpg

And last, but certainly not least, the cover for my newest novel and the second book in the Two Worlds series, Alliance:

All of the above covers are by the brilliant and talented Elaina Lee of For the Muse Designs.

I'd also like to note that the free ebook raffle I mentioned in the last post is still going until Tuesday, September 8th. So if you'd like to enter for a chance to win a free ebook copy of Reunification in the ebook format of your choice, just comment on this post or the last one saying so and I will add your name to the drawing, which will be done completely at random.
