  1. Haven't found an appropriate place for me to reflect on this without intruding on discussion, so why not here?

On a personal level, I'm rather confused by my own feelings on it. In four years, my role and position has more or less completely reversed. Kinda weird really...

I've never considered myself a proponent for it. I feel like I genuinely was pretty neutral - I never actually liked it all that much, but I generally took a more passive, uninvolved role and just tried to make sure it didn't get ridiculous. (By uninvolved, I mean I never actively participated in things like debates over what should be elements. There's no denying my recognized involvement behind the scenes of all that.) At the same time, I know I undeniably suffered from that elitist mentality of knowing everything with the story... They don't go hand-in-hand, I know, and I never did feel like I owned any part of it, but I'm sure I still rubbed some people the wrong way at some point because of it.

Now I don't like it, for sure. It's all about ownership now. It's all about the mentality that "we" have to write or fill in gaps. We have no right to do that. It is simply not "our" story at all and people need to stop treating it like that. For a while, it was because people wanted to keep BIONICLE afloat, so I continued to remain aloof and let that happen. But there's no reason now. And the level of detail being ironed out really is stifling and counterproductive.

TLDR: My perspective's changed a lot and I find that weird. But peeps, this ain't "your" story to write for everyone (do it for yourself and have fun with that though!), stop trying to make it so.

  2. I've never played Kingdom Hearts but this is pretty cool.

It's a great series. If you can find a way to, I would definitely recommend the PS3 HD remakes (even if I can't play them myself heh). Or the latest 3DS game.

Was planning on ordering this at some point. Looks pretty good.

And I've been planning on buying the 3D Riku since it came out I think this time last year... Oops. :P At least there's no other version of Roxas I'd want to give me indecision over whether to get this one or not. And he is cool.

My experience of Roxas was in a fan fiction rpg when I was a teenager. To my knowledge, he is shipped with that spikey haired guy who blandly says "Roxas... come back to us" and he enjoys sea salt ice cream or something. I get the sense that this figure captures that essence perfectly.

I had to look up who said that just to check and... Legitimately laughing up a storm here. Definitely not shipped with Demyx at all. If you had said the spikey red haired dude... :P

The sea salt ice cream part is spot on though lol.

  3. This REALLY bothered me when I first heard it.

It doesn't make a lick of sense.

They were the most underproduced by far (and Fox comes pretty close apparently) and all that was made was enough to stock shelves initially of maybe 4 or 5 per store... Jeeze, Nintendo, do you want these to sell or not? They should have remained in production more than literally once.

I was going to get every Amiibo. They are not making it easy and frankly it's just a dumb marketing move.

  4. WOW.

Way to blow something up over a tiny little harmless comment that wasn't an affront to you in any way.

Did I forget to mention that I played all of the games you mentioned too? (Well, except BBS because I wasn't buying a PSP for one title.) And based on your recent blog posted for when you started the series... I've been playing longer than you too. I've cared too - it's one of my most beloved franchises. I don't see what gives you any right to act so disrespectfully towards me just because you're a fan (too).

I specifically meant a console release, which was what kept getting teased - they literally skipped a generation of consoles until the remakes... which are just remakes. That's not the same thing as a new title. And that's what they kept saying was coming. The console release. The next big installment. Not a bunch more side stories which I never even said I had a problem with existing.

Just... WOW! You'd think I slapped your mother or something from that response. You went off on me for things I didn't say at all and just... Yeah, no, I'm saying this and leaving. I don't even want to talk with you anymore about this.

  5. These same people are also probably the ones who constantly lampoon issues like those that arose in Assassin's Creed Unity, yet it's because of them that developers are rushed by publishers to push things out so quickly.

In this particular case, I'm kinda curious what studio you're referring to in particular and their situation.

(That said, I totally would complain in some issues too... Like Kingdom Hearts. It's been almost 10 years since KH2 and a real continuation, and until a year ago nothing was ever being said than "we'll work on it eventually." Which isn't a very satisfying answer. After an amount of time like that, while knowing something is supposed to happen, I think the frustration is justified.)

  6. Yeah, both Marth and the Villager are pretty rare right now. I was lucky enough to find them for good prices on ebay (each of them less than three dollars over the original price before shipping), but they're out of stock everywhere.

I also live in Canada, which is not exactly helpful to collecting things, but whatever.

    Guess I got lucky then.

As another character I was interested in due to not having a proper action figure representation, it's looking like getting Villager will be loooads of fun ha.

    Congratulations by the way. ^_^

    Thanks. :3
  7. Cartoon Network is unfortunately still very much against action shows right now. :( I'm sure it had something to do with the mess that was this staple franchise's send-off (as if rushing it weren't insulting enough, that time slot was horrendous).

And I was watching too don't worry!!

I was worried in the last few episodes that they chose to cover too much of Ben's life, wrap up too many things. But that last scene told me I was very wrong and they could totally still make something interesting. I hope somebody does one day.

  8. You'll never have a fair comparison if you just isolate one aspect. As a whole, I'd still consider Firefly a bit more objectionable. And as is said in every Ideas announcement, many factors are considered, not the least of which is marketability. The Big Bang Theory undeniably does have a much larger audience, both in numbers and ages.

I'm fine with not wanting it to be a set. I even said I never expected it, and that is true. But I did not appreciate feeling like I was being vilified. And it's not even just this case; it's a sentiment I've felt in general for a while.

My complaint is that the set looks boring. I don't want a living room scene where they sit around their memorabilia. They should have some sort of science lab and a cool function to make it that way.  The show may be about relationships, but the science they routinely use in it is real, and that should’ve been more in focus in this model IMO.  But that’s just me, and I’ll vote for the Bird set over this with my money.

    :music:

But we haven't even seen the set yet, just the fan-created Ideas submission.
