  1. Even on MOCpages it wouldn't draw that much attention... It would just be buried in the archives. As I already mentioned on Eurobricks though, that was a cute although not educational read.
  2. They weren't kidding when they put, "From the Makers of Bionicle" on the box!
  3. Wait, is the yellow one an actual Sand Tarakava?! WHY YOU SO LUCKY? (If its not a real one, then I respect a MOC which looks spot on!) Good recolors to.
  4. Yeah the new 2016 sets hardly are more collectible, but when both 2015 and 2016 masks are counted together it is a pretty big group: 2015: Mo Fire: Red, Gold, Transparent, Trans-Orange Mo Water: Azure, Gold, Trans-Blue Mo Ice: White, Gold, Blended Mo Jungle: Green, Gold, Blended Mo Earth: Black, Gold, Blended Mo Stone: Burnt Orange, Gold, Blended Protector Mask: Red Blend, Burnt Orange Blend, Azure Blend, Black Blend, Gold Blend, Green Blend, White Blend Skull Spider: Silver, Greenish, Dark Blue, Gold Skull Warrior/Slicer Mask: Silver, Gunmetal, Gold Skull Basher/Scorpio: Silver, Gunmetal, Trans-Green Mask of Creation 2016 Creature Masks: (I don't remember all the colors) Mo FIre: Red Blend, Gold Blend Mo Water: Azure Blend, Gold Blend Mo Ice: White Blend, Gold Blend Mo Jungle: Green Blend, Gold Blend Mo Earth: Black Blend, Gold Blend Mo Stone: Burnt Orange Blend, Gold Blend Mask of Control Umarak's Mask I would say the total sum makes for a lot of collectible masks. It might not be as exciting as the Kanohi packs of 2001; but there are still a lot of masks out there to get!
  5. I don't think the drawing ads femininity, but as you mentioned the set does actually have an hourglass figure (very much so after removing the stud shooter). But few Lego figures look like a perfect human shape... I mean even Emmet and Wyldstyle when you think about it share the exact same build! And that is where this drawing works, it is a spot on depiction of Korgot's set form with only a few modifications to smooth over the CCBS's shells back ends. I can only imagine the work it took to get every piece proportioned and shaped just right to form this sketch, and the effort shows in the final product.
  6. My biggest pet peeve right now is pretty common on MOCpages right now; highly edited homepage photos. They are everywhere! They completely change the color of the MOC digitally, often to dark shades of Black, adds some cheesy digital effects, add some ridiculous title kind of like this: "KUMATU THE MURDERER!" Then to top it off, when I open the page to look at it, I see all the other pictures are extremely blurry, colors don't match, and the build looks similar to the dorky model I built for a Christmas BBC contest back in 2006 when I was 12 years old... Another pet peeve is when I see people write about their character, but they just can't get the spelling right, it sounds like this: "Kumatu wass a Mattorun wo beccome a Tooa wo ten beccim a Ragahh becus Rudaka hit Kumatu wit her spiner. Ten Kumatu gett betterr and gos and kils Rudaka and kils Makuta, and kils Darth Maul, and Megatroon. Kumatu kils everrybudy. HE HAS bIG SWoRd" I know I should have more mercy on these guys, since most of them are KFOL's new to posting online and I don't want to discourage any kids from playing with Lego... But at the same time I wonder, "Did your school ever teach you about spell check?" Yeah...
  7. Actually, you could use it as decorative shoulder armor, one mask on each side--give a MOC a very regal look. I've been toying with that same idea for a while now. "True dat." I also realized later today that a second mask would look great as ornamentation for a System style Lego build. Imagine Ekimu's forge with an emblem of the Mask of Creation hanging above it. But it is mostly the shawl that looks cool to me, I now imagine all the Toa as Gauchos drinking Mate, eating Empanadas, and watching reruns of El Chavo del Ocho on their T.V.
  8. Onua and Umarak don't have a page yet though, but by doing a currency conversion it looks like the two will be $20 sets.
  9. I found the U.S. prices for them by switching the pages region from Australia to the US. Kopaka and Melum are listed as $25 dollars here: http://shop.lego.com...uestid=17129301 $25 Dollars seems fair, a $20 Toa and a $5 Creature, or a $15 Toa and a $10 creature. Not nearly as bad as the $30 price some people have proclaimed.
  10. ^With that though I kind of wonder if it's okay to have the Gold/Trans Orange Tahu we get this next year. I feel red is the more classic color, but something about Gold/Trans Orange makes him look like he is ON FIRE, literally! I am tempted someday to MOC a "Burned" Tahu, in black and Trans Orange.
  11. Mata Nui, I hadn't even realized that before... Someone in the Lego group must have found that a brilliant idea. That's nothing. Did you guys know there was a BIONICLE cow they used to call a Mukau?Yes. I tore apart Gali Mata and Pohatu Mata when I was a kid to build a Mukau!
  12. Come to think of it I remember the TTV video you pulled that Solek #1 Worst from. That is the thing, its the opinion on the guy on TTV who made the video. Nothing about what he said is "gospel" or "canon" or "official." In fact in the video he hinted that he likes to beat on the Av-Matoran builds for fun, so that shows he has a strong bias. It was an entertaining YouTube video, but not the golden rule to judge the whole community opinion on. And as Aanchir mentioned the Av-Matoran build was improved on with later sets (perhaps part the reason the build is hated is due to its association with the Stars which were the swansong for Gen 1 Bionicle), and set the size scale that Hero Factory followed for its first year, and that the new Protector figures are around the size of an Av-Matoran. Not to mention the Av-Matoran have some interesting stories from what I have read on BS01, they seem like a hardy independent bunch.
  13. Yeah, it is just a molding mark; and all the 2015 masks have this, it is just the others have the circular part hidden in their mouth pieces instead of on their forehead like the skull villains have. Tahu's mask is the only one which kind of hides it, but it is still noticeable inside his mouth area.
  14. Scott and Andrew, Chir Brothers on the loose! Pretty funny self admission right there. Anyway back to the review. NujuMetru's and VBBN's reviews are a nail on the head. Umarak is the must buy set for 2016! I'm going to have fun letting Umarak hunt down my old Gen 1 Rahi. Umarak slaying Nui-Jaga, Kikanalo, and Keetongu sounds like a fun fan story! Also on the subject of Umarak's printed chest, I don't think of it as a second mouth; but the remains of a jawbone of some beast that Umarak killed long ago. We'll have to wait for the Netflix show to see what Lego officially thinks that mouth chest is for...
  15. I want it too. Including the Mask of Creation is kind of lame, since I'll be buying Ekimu soon enough so a second Mask has no purpose. But that shawl! It reminds me of the ponchos used in Argentina, Peru, and Bolivia. Suddenly the Ancient City reminds me of Machu Pichu; or El Sagrado Ciudad de los Quilmes in Argentina. Heck Yes!!
  16. I want to see Umarak!! I was kind of interested in Gali, but VBBN's review on Eurobricks has made me doubt Gali. I might get Tahu, being the texture disaster he is I find that fitting for a brash Toa of Fire.
  17. I don't own any Av-Matoran or Agori, but judging by photos and reviews online most complaints are due to the pieces used. The torso is large and clunky (admittedly the Metru Matoran torso was worse). The Av-Matoran legs were large and clunky. While the Av-Matoran definitely had more articulation than a Tohunga, Turaga, or Bohrak-Va: the Voya and Mahri Matoran had similar designs without using ackward new parts. Lastly the new Protector models can beat any Gen 1 Matoran in terms of complexity and articulation. Don't take this as a total dis on the Av-Matoran/Agori though. I am tempted to someday Bricklink a few mostly to get a hold of characters I missed during 2008 and 2009.
  18. True, a mouth-less Elda would have reinforced the "snorkle" idea, but with the mouth we end up getting a mustached mask...
  19. Wow. Looks spot on with the Templar Studios style. Amazing that someone with a computer in 2015 can replicate the style of professionals in 2001. If you get a time machine and go back to 2001 I think they would hire you on to work on MNOG
  20. I kind of have the opposite problem, I have lots of ideas for MOCs; but I lack the money to buy pieces for it. I have a TON of Bionicle pieces and Lego bricks (around 47010 pieces), but I don't dare disassemble my finished sets (I can justify tearing apart a Toa or two from time to time since they are easy to piece together again; but those Modular Buildings are a whole other matter...) I'm kind of a "build a set and leave it like that" type of guy. As such a lot of my MOCs are built from either: a) old sets I disassembled as a kid, b) Bricklinked parts, c) LDD builds. So yeah.
  21. Hmm, it does look better in white. Its not that it is a bad mask in my opinion, but that it doesn't match Gali that much. I have the same problem with Hahli's 2006 mustache mask.
  22. No one in my family is a drinker, so I have never had an experience of being at a wild Christmas party. But this is pretty much what I imagine would have happened. Pretty funny, glad to see the stuff from the Storyline Thread sneak over into here.
  23. Well when the Nuva masks were produced I was only 8 years old. I imagine if everybody else was around the same age too; then there has been a lot of maturing for everyone here in the past 13 years Although I criticized the Kaukau Nuva, I will step up to defend the Kakama Nuva. It looks sleek to me. However, the only Toa Nuva I ever owned was Tahu and Pohatu, so I have some bias towards them and their masks... I still think the 2008 Nuva masks deserve more criticism than the 2002 do though. Only the Kakama 2008 looks anything like a Kakama... The rest of the five 2008 masks are just... way to wannabe Mahri/Metru for my tastes. For the same reason that is why I can go about praising the 2015 masks all day, they look like they should!
  24. Plus the humidity. I lived for a while in the semi-tropical areas of northern Argentina, and the humidity was KILLER; and that wasn't even a full blown jungle yet!
  25. Looks like it a Kaukau Nuva that somebody tried to customize. However the mold stamp on the nose, and some other asymmetry could mean its a knockoff.
