  1. Okay, sure. Glamguitarist has been proven to be mcsmeag, and I had a hunch of that beforehand. I Have a feeling that "moochymench" is Hahlihusky, with a slight chance of it being tufi piyufi, and that's all hte characters mentioned so far, other than "ray"'s little bro, who I have no clue about.

    Are you SURE about that?

And although there is a hard limit on eight player characters, there is always room for cameo spots, so don't count anyone out yet ;)

Just to make life easier on you though, I will tell you that two characters are not Staff, and not really active members, so don't feel bad when you can't figure them out.

  2. Personally, the Bionicle world is so important to what Bionicle is, that you can't have a Bionicle display that includes (for example) the Statue of Liberty made out of Bionicle parts. So I'd divide the display thing up into Bionicle and Constraction. The Bionicle part can then include anything from the world of Bionicle, and can use pieces from whatever (including HF, and also system, for stuff like that system-built Tahu statue Lego made way back in the day). Then the constraction section can include non-Bionicle stuff like the example of the Statue of Liberty made from Bionicle parts. Not that I have any idea how conventions work, but surely if you're given a Bionicle/constraction area then it's down to you to decide how to divide it up, so cutting it in half like that keeps everyone happy.- Tilius

Sorry man, but a Bionicle-style Statue of Liberty would go smack dab in the middle of the Bionicle section. There's never been a split like that that I'm aware of.

  3. Honestly the backgrounds feel super cluttered. You've sort of got a lot of thrown in elements that aren't adding anything to your message. Little lightning strikes, the metallic border, it's too much. Refine and keep it simple.

  4. You can download a trial of Adobe Illustrator, which is basically the industry standard for all Vector work. It'll last you a good thirty days. I recommend using the "Vectorscribe" plug in which you can also use on a trial basis. They have an excellent series of tutorials to teach you how to work the program.

Some people like using Photoshop for their vectoring, but this is a much more difficult way to do it and your results will not be as good.

I believe there are some freeware vector programs out there, but I'm not familiar with them and Illustrator will have enough documentation around that you can figure it out in a week or two of playing with it.

  5. Right now, BZPStuck looks like a high-quality Homestuck copy. As the story goes on, I'd like it to become much more differentiated so it can stand on its own as a good story, not just a parody. Also, the numerous really long chat logs in Homestuck at first were interesting, but then they got boring. Perchance you could go easy on the chat logs?

I don't think I could write that long of a chatlog if I tried.

Also we won't have any "quirks" to deal with here, so no problems.

As for the differentiation, I definitely understand that concern. At first I wanted a game that was -completely- different from Homestuck. Same game format, but with no other real connections. However, everyone involved had become so because they were such big fans of Homestuck and also were interested in seeing themselves in that framework. Thus, there was a compromise so that we would still retain those attributes you see in Hussie's comic - the Sylladex, the Specibus, Chatlogs, and the basic idea of the game itself, but as you'll see these are superficial. I absolutely promise you, you do not know how this will go or how this will end. There will be many things that seem familiar, yes, but as we go further on it should grow more and more into it's own distinct work.

That said, there is obviously no seperating this work from it's predecessor and I am very aware of that. It's a loving homage.

  6. I'm very excited for it. I think it's great so far. However, I'd hate to see too many jokes that rely on Homestuck.Having never read it, I don't feel like going through 5+ hours of internet just to get some jokes here.

I think the hardest part for someone who doesn't read homestuck will be understanding the mechanics of the game; the inventory system, the game itself. I'll try to make sure and explain it as well as I can, but as for the jokes I'm trying to be conscious of the fact that just parroting Homestuck memes is not quality humor. I think there's far more worth in creating our own language, with our own little in-jokes and gags, and hope that I can be successful in this.
