BZPRPG - Ko-Wahi

IC: "Really? One punch and it's an instantaneous death sentence? Remind me never to take you to any back-alley fight-clubs; that sounds like a massacre waiting to happen," Verulas said flatly. "But since Chuckles over there seems to have forgotten to take his reasoning vitamins this morning, I guess that job falls to me."

The Bo-Toa sighed, stabbing his knife into the table and knowing that it was probably a lost cause to defend the seemingly insane Skakdi.

"You know, you guys talk really loudly. I heard your entire conversation on my trek back here, and I'm not even a De-Toa. While we're on that subject, I loved how you guys left me by myself while I was making sure none of you got sniped on the way back, but that's besides the point. Anyway, the Skakdi waltzed up here with both knowledge about your organization and where you'd be, and, instead of bringing the rest of his buddies to kill you, attempted to join. Granted, he could still be a spy, but we should at least hear him out before killing him."

IC: Faora

Faora followed Zero into the outpost. Drawing on her mask, she looked around the large room they had entered. She didn't focus on details, just the general feel of the room. It wasn't much different from what she had expected. Numerous individuals stood about, but what caught her eye was the Skakdi slumped against the back wall. Zero asked about him, and one of the Outsiders answered rather angrily.

Faora wanted to know more--and she almost commented on the Vortixx's unpleasant demeanor--but she again restrained herself. Until she was officially an Outsider, she thought it best to avoid getting on anyone's bad side.

IC: Transient

Transient took a step back and decided to let the higher-ranking officers duke out what to do with Marauder. He noticed Faora was rather quiet as well, and so moved closer to her. He reached out his hand in a friendly gesture.

"Hello - I'm Transient. The one who contacted you about joining up in the first place? Sorry about the confusion with the Skakdi; I don't think it's usually this... violent in HQ. I hope you don't get the wrong impression..."

His scope buzzed and whirred on his face as he zoomed in, studying the detail of her mask and cataloging her appearance for future reference.

IC: Faora

She smiled at the Onu-Toa introducing himself. She focused a little harder on her mask to see exactly where his hand was, hoping the slight delay in her reaction wasn't noticeable. She shook his hand.

"Right," she said, "I recognize the name." She glanced past him as his scope made some noise. "I figured that--" she pointed at the wounded Skakdi "--was a little out of the ordinary, at least based on your reaction back there." She looked back at the Toa. "I am curious though: what happened?" She jerked her head toward the Vortixx talking to Zero. "Have something to do with Mister Pleasant over there?"

IC: Transient

He had to chuckle, the sound rumbling with his deep voice. "From what I hear, the Skakdi was a bit egotistical - a trait not too popular around here. Mercenaries can't afford to be arrogant," he said, recalling the words as Enforcer had had said them. "We must be devoted to our mission, not ourselves. Anyways, tempers rose, and the Skakdi punched Enforcer - Mr. Pleasant, I believe you called him? - straight in the jaw. Then the Skakdi got blasted across the room. Apparently, he was a tad demented; a valid excuse, though not necessarily a useful one. Long story short, Ayar - our medic - will have plenty of work to do."

IC: Khil'rayu (Outskirts of Ko-Koro)

Part 1, Book 1, Chapter 1

As I wander through the war-torn outskirts of Ko-Koro, the first City of Makuta, I find a whole street of buildings demolished. No-one came this during the attack, and the looting was surprisingly minimal for an invasion. Still striding through the rubble, I come across a wall which appears to be, magically, still standing. Oh yeah, and with a Skakdi strapped upside-down to it. He appears to be out cold, for a few hours, at least; the body's covered in a thin layer of frost. I spy a heartlight from underneath the ice, still pulsing strongly, defiantly, and so I brush some of the snow off of him and, activating my sword, chop through the straps of metal holding him up. As he collapses to the ground, I catch him, and shout at my fellow Makultist to wake him up and stop the risk of frostbite.

OOC: That's you, Alijar.  ;) Also, Khil'rayu's open to interaction from any of the Makultists currently occupying Ko. :D

IC: Enforcer (Obsidian Outpost)

"A simple rule," I agree, overhearing the newcomer's words, "I'm normally a nice person," I add, trying to reassure everyone, "I've had a very long few days and that skakdi pushed me too far."

IC: Dayeth (The Sanctum)

"Blood for blood?" Dayeth sussurated, "Now that is an idea I can get behind." She lowered her hand, letting the flames dissipate.

"You are Echelon." it wasn't a question; there was no one else it could have been.

IC Veneras

The Ko-Toa nodded at Enforer's words "It has been a long week for all of us" he added. Perhaps it was not his place to chime in, but Veneras had lost everything. Ko Koro was all he had left, and now that was gone too.

IC Yeri MacGukko

The rhythmatic rock of the cable car continued it's melodic journey as the singing grew closer

"OY!

I sailed my ship down to the bay,
awaaaayy, down to Naho.
I sailed away to find my stay

I had me a bottle of Po Pale Ale
down at Naho Bay.
I docked my ship and tossed my line
awaayy down at Naho
I drank my ale and i found my stay

IC: (Rakona)

By far, Rakona and her companions had managed to secure a large area of the Koro without much resistance. Large numbers of Matoran had evacuated, but a sizable number remained. They had killed guards escorting civilians, and forced the villagers into buildings, to trap them in with earthen walls. The young and the old were long gone, so most that remained were in fairly healthy shape. Suitable for conversion or slavery. It would be good, she thought. The new village would need them.

Ak'rei'an be praised, the heathen city is almost ours.

IC: (Sukot urn Voyuk)

Well, the city was doomed anyways. The Sanctum Guard put up one karz of a fight, He'd get out, fast, to avoid becoming a lapdog to some lunatic Makuta-servant. Though he was wounded, he had managed to patch himself up relatively well. He was in pain, but not bleeding profusely. But thing was, he was trapped in the city, and needed to find a way to go out scot-free...

I occasionally return to BZP for a nostalgic trip back. Hit me up on discord if you need anything.

IC (Jin)

There- it looked like there was a lull in the battle. Most've the attackers had made it inside; the defenders were breaking. I motioned to Nika and Shortie. "Let's move."

IC:

The lull wasn't missed by Jin's two companions. Adjusting their weapons, the two warriors approached the doorway. Glancing over to the other Voritxx, Nika nodded once, pushed the door open, and bolted into the open. Rana wasn't far behind.

IC: Enforcer.

I nod in agreement to Veneras' remark, then turn to Ayar. "Get him out of my sight, then heal him," I sigh, "someone go with her and make sure this scum doesn't try anything."

IC: Dayeth.

The mutated Ta-Matoran bowed before Echelon. Once, she would have bowed before no one, but this Dark Toa was one of Makuta's most trusted servants.

She straightened to her feet, offering her ash hand, palm-up, to Echelon. "It is an honour."

IC Yeri MacGukko

The Cable Car's musical journey finally came to a halt as the car pulled up to the outpost. The Passenger -who had undoubtedly been responsible for the shantie filled ascendence- could now be seen. He was a green and blue lesterin. Under his long leather trench coat he carried to holsters.
"'ello lads" he tiped his stroker cap cheerfully at the fellers guarding the toll booth

IC Forger

Zero had finally entered the room, she asked of the Skakdi's crimes.

My skin began to prickle, there were a great deal of things that I feared. Many of them I pushed down or ignored, Zero was one of the things I could not. However well we worked together, I doubted her reaction to the mission to Ko-Koro would be as... Understanding as Transient's.

...but close to it

OOC:  Looks like a timeskip's about to descend on Ko-Koro via Echelon...

IC: Ahkmou, Ko-Koro (Ambages' Apartment)

Scrapes on the floor of ice marked the path of the desk's movement as the two infiltrators pressed themselves against its side.  The sound jarred and grated, echoing down the hallway from the office like a tribal instrument.  For a moment Ishi let himself think the sound was the desk's voice calling for help, a final plea to not reveal the secret buried beneath.  The informant smirked as Caerus' words filled his mind: secrets stay safest when buried.

"What've we got here?"

Beneath the desk was a depression the floor, chiseled out in a rough square.  Inside was a metal box, with a lock that blinked with a soft light.  It was small, but deep.  Forgetting his injuries, Ishi dropped to his knees and conjured a mitten of shadow, grabbing a strange device from its holster on his thigh.

"I got it made special," Ishi explained as he pressed the shadows against the rods' surface.  It looked like a metal bar, except for the buttons lining one side near the top, and a little flashlight blinking into existence as he aimed the light at the lock for a better look in the shadow of the desk.  "This here is a fun little device, and replaces a good fifty percent of the tools I normally carried around.  It's not much as a weapon, but it's just dandy for my line of work.  One of its nifty features is to give little electrical jolts, and if I do enough of them I can use it to override electrical signals, or flat out fry them."

The rod touched the metal surface, and with the push of a button a jolt of electricity poured into the lock before the rod's flashlight went dark.  There was a soft rain of sparks and then the lock beeped and its light went out.  Slipping his palms between the safe and the ice, he pulled it free onto the floor and shook open the broken lid.  A bundle of frozen leather slid out.  The Informant's glee couldn't be stopped.

"This is -- this is incredible, Dervish.  Not only did I arrive to the correct conclusion of Ambages' possession of this kanohi, but the implications of my accuracy are astounding.  You realize we're looking at civil war, maybe something even better?" He said, hopping to his feet, the parcel clutched to his chest.  Unwrapping it on the desk proved a challenge requiring the toa's fingers, but when finished the two looked down a small mask covered in frost.  It had a high-brimmed nose, two small openings for eyes, and a smooth forehead.  He stared at the kanohi in awe a moment longer, then before Dervish could protest he scooped the komau up and stashed it in his drawstring bag.

"We should be going," Ishi admitted while adjusting the strings on his shoulders.  As if to highlight his words an explosion echoed from a few blocks down.  He stopped while strolling toward the door of Ambage's office, staring at the scrapes on the floor where the desk moved, the exposed hole where the safe once rested.  Bending down, he cut another pattern, a crude web with a spider in its center, into the floor, then left.

Outside, in the destruction of the city, Ishi and Dervish made their way to safety.

OOC:  Norik, feel free to make a post and move us into Ko-Wahi. :)  You up for a trip to Onu-Koro?

Also, Kanohi Komau in Ishi's possession with approval of Nuju Metru.

Edit: cleared the carrying of the komau as a separate possession with Friar Tuck.

OOC: oh yes!

IC: Dervish

Arabeth nodded at Ishi's words. She couldn't believe this- one of two copies of the most powerful mask known to Mata Nui- in Ishi's hands. And given his unexpected psychological change recently...

"Agreed," she said as she pushed the door open. The wind howled around them as the two rogues pilled up their cloaks and made away from the city boundaries.

"So where next?" she asked over the wind.

IC: Ishi Polzin

"Onu-Koro," Ishi replied.  His teeth chattered madly with the cold, and his feet sank deep into snow as they made their escape; but the informant, filled with the excitement of success, made quick headway through the snowdrifts.  "Then, once we're done with miners' stink and glowing fungi, I thought a trip to the desert might be nice."

IC: So much for that conversation...

Verulas looked at the two sitting next to him before shrugging, his hand ripping the knife from the table as he returned to his feet.

He was the one who had opened his big mouth, so it only felt fitting that he would walk the walk as well.

"Don't start getting up all at once, people," he mumbled, seeing that he was the only one so far to offer himself for the job. "You just might strain yourselves."

The Bo-Toa moved towards the pair, using his powers to bind the Skakdi's hands and feet with vines before confiscating his Patero Launchers. He then turned to Ayar.

"Well? You heard Chuckles. Where do you want him?"

IC: Veteran.

"Our guests don't seem to've noticed the boss lady yet," Veteran pointed out. There was a wall in the way, after all. "I think it's time I told them they've overstayed their welcome."

He rounded the wall and approached Kellin and Krayzikk. "Okay-dokey mates, I think it's about time you got to crossing the Break with the rest of the refugees. Unless ya gotta reason for stickin' around that I dunno about, it's high time you buggered off."

Veteran advanced on Krayzikk and Kellin; the pair apparently hadn't heard him call out to them before. "Ello? You guys deaf or somethin'?" he asked when he was right next to them. "This aint a bloody hotel; unless you got some reason to be stickin' around that I dunno about, it's time for youse to be gettin' out of here."

The Fa-Toa nodded at Enforcer's words.

Aurorin awoke from his sleep, startled by visions of a wall covered in Matoran Blood. Even if he wasn't an Interior designer, this didn't look good, even in his dreams. He got up from his sitting position, brushed the snow off him, and started down the path towards Ko-Koro. He wasn't going there, he just wanted to do some trading on the outskirts before departing into the hills.

IC: Ayar (Obsidian Outpost)

Part 2, Book 2, Chapter 3

"Alright then. Verulas, carry him up to my room for me, would ya?"

IC: Scholar (Obsidian Outpost)

Part 1, Book 3, Chapter 3

"Seeing as it appears that I'm not required, I'll just be outside in the courtyard, tidying things up after earlier, okay?" Scholar said as he walked out the door.

The courtyard was a mess.

The walls were half made of ice, covered in scorch marks, and there was even a crater where his Patero launcher had misfired. There was also a light covering of snow on the ground, which would really make the trials hard for the recruits- and what's more, it looked messy.

So Scholar converted the snow into Elemental Energy, which he then used to coat all of the walls in ice, mostly concealing the huge patches where he'd blown holes in the wall. With that done, he filled the crater in with ice, making the perfect trap spot, and restored all of the axes and other training equipment to their proper places on the racks. And so finally, finally, the courtyard looked (kind of) like it did when he had first arrived. Pleased with his work, Scholar flopped down on top of the wall.

IC: Verulas shrugged.

Personally, he would've brought him to an indistinguishable broom closet or something so that he wouldn't be as familiar with their base, but the Fe-Toa insisted, so whatever.

He kneeled down, forcing the Skakdi over his shoulder before attempting to stand. The Skakdi was a bit larger than he was, but this wasn't the first time he had to carry an unconcious person either. He began moving back to Ayar's room, moving a bit slower this time due to the additional weight he was bearing,

What had this guy been eating? The Skakdi better be really appreciative when he woke up, or he was going to finish what the Vortixx started.

When the Bo-Toa arrived at his destination, he discovered that her door had been sealed up tight, thus barring him from entering her domain. He turned his head back down the hallway, looking to see if she was following behind them.

"Hey, doc? You left your room locked up, and last time I checked, I couldn't become intangeable at will. Mind opening the door for me?"

The question was purely rhetorical; he fully expected her to do so once she got there, but in the meantime, he would patiently wait. She sure was serious about her privacy...

OOC: Karz, the Rahkshi symbol's exposed. Whoops.

IC: Ayar (Obsidian Outpost)

Part 2, Book 2, Chapter 3

Ayar suddenly remembered that she'd left the Rahkshi symbol on her wall uncovered.

And that Verulas had gone ahead.

Oh, Karz.

She rushed up the steps, and when she got to her room, she barged past Verulas, unsealing the door in a flash, and before he could see inside, she recreated the sheet of protodermis over the Rahkshi insignia.

IC (Echelon)

Echelon's sharp eyebrows curved into a frown as Mortem mentioned 'Outsiders', but the moment he was about to speak, Londar's ill-judged words echoed through the Sanctum.

The Dark Toa turned slowly, and took a few slow, methodical steps towards the captive Matoran.

"Would you like to know," he asked softly, "my favourite cliché?"

OOC: EDIT: Would remove the reference to the Outsiders, but I'm too lazy to come up with an alternative sentence :P

IC: Londar

Sigh...

"I wouldn't presume to know, but I take it that it has something to do with people who talk too much?" Londar grinned, sending mixed signals of fear and defiance, with a hint of arrogance and bravado in his voice. "I guess I'm just a cynical old man; after a life of submerging myself in the ugly parts of this island, I guess I have trouble taking grandiose displays like that-" he gestured with his shoulder to the writing on the wall "-seriously."

IC: Okay, then...

Verulas watched as she flung the door open and rushed inside. He didn't actually see anything that he had presumed she was trying to hide, but he did notice that the wall of Protodermis looked different than it had before, so whatever she didn't want anyone to see was definitely behind it. He shook his head before propping the Skakdi up in a chair, eventually pulling one up nearby himself while he watched Ayar begin to heal him. The Bo-Toa fully expected for him to be highly displeased when he woke up, and he was ready to take care of him if the situation came down to it.

As for right now, however, he decided to make small-talk with the healer.

"You know, you should really try to keep that wall over there a little bit more consistent every time you put it back up. Truly observant people such as myself might begin to wonder if you're attempting to keep secrets from the rest of us," he said as a thin smile formed across his lips. "Just saying."

OOC: You guys are going to have to go back and edit. No one ever mentioned to Mortem that we were Outsiders; there's no way he could know without it being metagaming. ;)

Dayeth glared daggers at the matoran who had dared to speak ill of Makuta's chosen. She waited, eager with anticipation, for Echelon to make him pay for his mistake.

His last mistake...

IC (Echelon)

"Permit me a demonstration."

The Dark Toa reached out with one hand, palm towards the Matoran, whose fingers then began to close into a fist.

Shadows like little tongues of black flame sprang up across the surface of Londar's neck. The Matoran's eyes widened as he felt his throat begin to close as though held in an invisible, vice-like grip.

Echelon stood calmly, arm still extended. Londar's hands scrabbled at his throat, trying to pry away the choking fingers but meeting only thin air, as the invisible hand began to lift him off the ground.

IC: Ayar (Obsidian Outpost)

Part 2, Book 2, Chapter 3

"They really might,"  Ayar replied, fairly unflustered by Verulas' observation. She created a few rods of metal, which she bound to the spines on Marauder's back, before resealing the skin around them and restoring them to their former upright-ness. Ayar then moved onto the Skakdi's ribcage, which she put back together with a few more strips of metal and a dash of Sana-power.

"Okay, he should wake up in a bit," Ayar said to Verulas. "Could you tie his hands and ankles to the chair please, and I'll cover his eyes with some protosteel- we don't know his vision power, so I'm taking no risks." With that, Ayar covered Marauder's eyes with a thick plate of protosteel, which she then fused to his skull via a combination of elemental power and healing.

OOC: Jakura, I hope you don't mind me fusing the protosteel to his skull. I can remove it once he's subdued. :D

Londar would have commented on how common it was for Fa-Toa or Matatu users to strangle their opponents...

... But he was too busy being strangled.

IC: Dayeth.

The twisted Ta-Matoran watched on, a sadistic light burning in her eyes and a hungry smile splitting her face.

To kill without leaving a mark? Makuta had truly been generous when gifting Echelon with new powers.

She stood there silently, watching as the struggling Matoran's flailing grew weaker, his meaningless life being crushed from his pathetic, worthless body...
