We have shown you merely the ships that invaded us. It would be foolishness to assume they had not held some back as a defensive measure. And our star charts for that sector are outdated, based on our limited scouting and what the Natsirt told us. We would be moving blind, unable to co-ordinate strategic movements.""On the other hand," they continued, voice switching, "We know not all the races of that sector are in the alignment. There is a species called 'Leben' who did not appear to be part of the invasion from our observations on ship design. If we can get them on our side we would have much more detailed information on the other sector's layout, and a possible distraction to draw Natsirt ships away from our attempts at crossing over."

My apologies, I miscommunicated. The ship emits no EM energy or radiation, would show up on radar as an asteroid, and has heat sinks in the hull to dispose of thermal heat. It cannot be detected by any means we have, but we'd be happy to test it against yours to improve the technology before utilizing it.

Well, would you just look at that?

IC [Location: Citamgine. Identity: General]The IIA, having been discussing a stealth ship for some time and working around what would give ships away, had put the engineers into the final prototype stage. They needed a fast, light, unseen ship that could conduct surveillance.[General]Elsewhere in the Empire there was much celebration, not only for the overthrow of the empire but the fact that the two closest colonies had risen to become mighty forge worlds, capable of industrial production on par with the homeworld. This day was also marked with much decision making; realizing their industrial capacity just could not work a colonizer in and starbases, the decision was made; the mighty Destroyer class vessel Last Breath of the Enemy would be drydocked, it's crew put on shore leave until the time it could return to active service. During it's drydock it would be retrofitted to keep up with the fleet. Thus one colonizer began work over Citamgine, while the fleet underwent retrofitting, preparing for the attack that was sure to come.OOC1 Destroyer class drydocked until Dec. 2nd1 colonizer begun, ETA Dec. 2ndNew Lleh (1-2) and New Llaf (1-39) upgraded to Forge Worlds.

IC(Conference): The General of the Armies spoke again, gesturing somewhat lazily as he did. The gestures didn't seem to serve any real purpose as far as communication went, and, in fact, they didn't - it was somewhere between a nervous habit and the Diemawr version of politeness."If we are to develop a stealth-ship, we must develop the systems to detect an identical ship whether it wants to be detected or not. There is, I think, nothing to say that our counterparts are not climbing the same branch as we are, with but superficial differences in the path taken. There are only so many ways to make a ship stealthy - whatever we think of to avoid detection, we must think of ways to combat."

OOCSomething I'd like to point out is that a good ship could remain undetected regardless of how good your sensors are. Space is massive so there must be sensor sweeps; a simply waiting job of watching the scans, predicting their pattern, and moving through them accordingly. Unless there's randomized sweeps, but that has its own problems to counter the pros.Even with a good sensor net, if you do find the ship, depending on the state of it's engines and what sort of engines they're using, your sensor net could be completely trained on a ship and not realize it's a ship, depending on it's design and configuration.

Putting them in position and keeping them there, it takes manpower to keep orbits intact. Recharging/replacing their batteries(can't use solar power in deep space) and wear and tear on the masers or radios or whatnot they use to transmit their findings.

Sigh...(@Power) Ic (1-40): The single, organic scout ship fell in line with the mass of Alizarin ships leaving 1-40, en-route back to their home sector. This exodus was apparently the result of some... intriguing negotiations by an invasion force of TAP members, headed by the Natsirt. The Leben delegates learned that the Sector One aliens had, despite having formed a peace treaty, marched right up to the Alizarin's homeworld, declaring them to forfeit all of their colonies with the threat of unbridled war. This observation would certainly be made known to the government officials considering joining the Trilateral Alliance. Sure, the Leben would probably betray a race they had a deal with as well if given the appropriate reasons, but they would be subtly, nothing like the obviously boisterous Natsirt. As they reached 2-5 several hours later, the Forschung vessel curved off trajectory of the alien fleet and navigated towards the ocean planet they had been told to approach, supposably the homeworld of the Alizarin.
