IC: Glass Vs Paladin

Glass watched as vital circulatory solvent splashed out from the faceplate, too distracted to see the blade.

"Yikes!"

Watch it!

Glass tried to dodge, but the blade got lodged within the plates of his suit's abdomen armour.

What the-

Twist it away from him!

Glass twisted his body, using the armour's grip on the sword to pull Paladin off-balance, downwards and towards Glass. At the same time, Glass drew back and let fly another punch at the rapidly approaching head.

IC: Paladin - Vs Glass

Just as I thought I had him, he pulled me forwards, and another fist hit me in the chin. I recoiled backwards, blood trickling from my visor, and my sword no long in my grasp.

"ARRRGGGGHHHHH!" I yelled, dashing and putting all my force and power into an uppercut with my shield, headed straight for Glass' face.

Leaving Sand to rest in my dorm, I set off once more into the halls. I wasn't entirely sure where I was going to go, yet, but I was curious to see how much the school had changed, physically and socially, during my absence.

"It's alright, I know the way. I will take him to our nurse."

And that I did, escorting the gagging Rahkshi to the infirmary. When we arrived I let him stumble in on his own, not wanting to get caught up in any more medical business today. With that, I headed back to the dorms. Best to be nearby my tools if the spines malfunction, even if I have to deal with an oddly endearing, overly cheerful rahkshi.

On my way back, I came across another rahk. This one seemed... tired. Worn. Theirs was not a kind destiny, it seemed.

Kororia, and my dorm, were still another turn down the hallway, but I was intrigued. Naturally, I started conversation the one way I knew how.

"Your suit," I said, "Is interesting. Though it seems well-worn."

IC: Phantom - Ruins on the Water

Phantom took off in a jog, trailing fog behind her. Gaever said they needed to find 'metal'. That was a pretty broad category. Thankfully, though, there was quite a bit of metal peppering the sooty, decrepit ground. Trampled tools, broken machines and trinkets, and even the occasional rahkshi suit part. Phantom loaded up her arms with whatever shiny matter she could find, all while avoiding the bits with conspicuously organic looking matter strung to them

He nodded and gave a quiet "Thank you," to Jayar as the trio departed, then leaned up against a tree for a long watch. He idly boiled plasma in his hand to keep himself occupied and light the area around him.

IC: Melody - Refectory

"This is Cuutuk!" Melody said enthusiastically. "R-remember, I t-told you about him?"

IC: Canvas - Refectory

"Oh... right." Canvas dropped the tray she was carrying onto the table, and the loud noise gave her a start. She was focused on this "Cuutuk." Maybe she didn't remember every name, but she never forgot a guise of hers, the first one she did to please Melody. The lime body, and of course the spider. Part of her was happy she got so close with some of the details... and part of her was simmering over just how happy they looked together.

But she broke away, appearing utterly unflustered save for a slight shimmer to her brown and white patterns, and looked back down to the slop she had splattered on the table. "I uh... brought lunch, but looks like I made a mess of it."

IC: Glass

Come on, there's no way he can aim properly with all that blood.

All that what?

Glass backpedalled, staff out front, moving back, letting the blinded Rahk uppercut the air unwieldily with his heavy shield, before moving in and swiping his staff low, hoping to knock the other Rahk off his feet and end the fight.

IC: Paladin - Vs Glass

Time seemed to stop as I came to the realization of what was about to happen.

I stumbled into my uppercut, before being tripped up by Glass, smacking my head on the floor and knocking up my visor, revealing the battered kraata inside.

Blood oozed from my face and I groaned, my arms still raw and burned from the electricity. Despite this, I tried to pull myself up, before falling over again.

"I....can't....back down....." I mumbled, still trying to get up.

IC: Shield - Foraging

"Scouting's a good call. Just stick together, I don't think Kat could handle another missing rahkshi."

I remembered very clearly the consequences that occured from me wandering off last time. In fact, it ended up with me, Jayar and Snake having to fuse.

"I... can't... back down," the other Rank mumbled as he struggled to get up.

"Don't push yourself friend. Your armour's all broken, and you're exposed from your armour."

Glass offered a hand to help him up, making sure to keep his legs away from Paladin's, just in case Paladin decided to repay the favour.

"Yield?"

I began to worry, looking around frantically.

"He's my pet, and I have no idea where he is."

Meanwhile, a small crab began to crawl up one of the shelves, a small dried fish in his mouth.

"I... I've had it a long time..." this was, as far as I could remember, the first time anyone had taken interest in my suit, of all things, "...at least, by this place's standards."

"Yes, this school does not have much in that regard." I mused.

This rahk seemed considerably more docile, or rather, lacking in extraneous personality or outward display of character. A sign of maturity.

"You are a veteran student then? Have you been here long?" I absent-mindedly began to stroke slightly at the scarf in my hands. The texture was quite a sensation.

IC: Slif - Hallways

Some way or another, that other rahkshi up and disappeared while I was taking a look at a big hammer. Ended up being that I just walked right out with it, pretty darn confused by his sudden disappearance. Oh well. The hammer felt pretty good actually, nice and weighty. I was giving it a good spin in my hands on my way to the dorms. If there was one thing I was still needing at this karz-hole, it was a bed. I mean, a friend would be great too, but so far it didn't seem much like anyone was interested in this meat-sack.

I kept on walking until I came to what looked like an unoccupied room, just downwind of a few more rahk. Probably nothing going on over there...

"Destiny?" I scoffed, "To karz with that. I'm not some feeble Matoran, aimlessly waiting for some conceited higher power to choose my path for me. I make my own fate."

I eyed her with a slight degree of frost, though her last words chimed in my ears.

"Destiny," I said, "Is not found by sitting by and allowing the world to dictate your actions. It is a purpose, the highest degree of your existence you can achieve. I know, more than most of my siblings, of making my own fate."

"I don't believe in whimsical idealism. I only believe in what life has taught me so far."

The stroking of the scarf had turned to clenching.

"And life has taught me that only I have control over my fate. I did not survive to reach this far in life through other's sympathy."

This student was insufferable.

"I should hope so." I say. "That is why I chose to come here. Although it hardly seems amiable as a place of learning."

I could go on about the question of destiny, but continuing would clearly be pointless in this situation.

"You mean a school full of an entirely new sentient strain of a traditionally barbaric and volatile species made from the essence of shadow and despair?" I asked, more than rhetorically.

"Students infighting and murdering one another, often outside of the public eye? That's no surprise to me, if that's what you are implying."

What now?

I stood up straight. That had caught me off guard, too busy stewing in my brain again.

"What about the what?" I called back.

"Xara. My name is Fate. For whatever worth you take it, good luck." I finished.

Not bothering with any further pleasantries, I turned, and continued onward.

I was actually feeling quite restless now. My body was informing me of the need for exercise, or physical activity. Perhaps a visit to the gym for some brief routines...

Dang, she's a speedy little bug.

"Honestly, I don't have any idea," I grinned, "Just barely picked it up today."
