BIONICLE Episode 17

[Hapori Tohu]

The story of BIONICLE 2015 is nearing its conclusion in the latest episode of the web series. Episode 17: Forge of the Mask Maker follows the Toa and Ekimu into the furnace of the ancient city of Okoto who will face off against Skull Basher and Kulta the Skull Grinder who is now in possession of the Mask of Creation. Can the Toa stop Kulta and what is Ekimu's plan? Stay tuned for episode 18 to find that out.

Wait... weren't there supposed to be a total of 20 animations this year? The first half of the year had 10, so this half should have 10. That means we should still have two more episodes after the conclusion of the story in the animations...

What if the fight takes three episodes? Have you thought about that?

 

Btw the skull basher battle has to be the worst boss battle in the history of all battles.

Man. This episode made the Skull Basher look like a weakling. I thought it was supposed to be the big brute of the Skull Creatures.

 

Anyways, looks like things are starting to get intense. Can't wait to see how badly one side gets curb-stomped next .

Remember back in G1 when the Toa had to use their noggins to outsmart the bad guys? Frankly, the Skull Scorpio battle was the most interesting simply because it wasn't a six on one beat down.

The skull basher fight was almost disappointingly short,

 

if not for how hilarious all the toa just ramming him straight through that door was.

 

(also tahu and kopaka's graceful arc over the rest of the team, just beautiful...)

Anyways, it feels like Skull Basher had even less time here than he did in Island of Lost Masks. All the other villains were in at least two episodes before they were beaten, while Basher here has only been in one. I kind of feel bad for him.

Man, things are getting intense! I like it and am excited for the next episode or two!

 

Anyway, the fight with Skull Basher is short and a bit disappointing. I mean, all he did was kicking three of the Toa's butts in two hits, stealing and draining Onua's mask, like his fellow lieutenant, Skull Slicer on Lewa's, and getting defeated by the united five Toa in one hit. For a big brute who is the strongest of the Skull servants, he is defeated easily. I expected an epic fight with that guy because of that fact. How embarrassing.

 

Anyway, we can finally hear a 2015 villain (Kulta) talk for the first time (he sounds like Pohatu in an evil tone). The others are just making noises. I wonder if for the next episode or two if Kulta would somehow summon his army back if he couldn't take down seven heroes at once. I would be epic to see them coming back.

 

Anyway, has anyone noticed an Okoto letter on the side of the staircase where Onua was falling down to his head?

There were 9 episodes for the Winter Wave plus that "The Legend" video which they didn't count for some reason, and then 9 more episodes in the summer. So eighteen "episodes" total, I believe.

The battle with Skull Basher may have been very short, but it is somewhat epic to me. The way the Toa ram him through the doorway/gateway is the best part of it. He just goes flying! 

 

Oh, those couple of easter-eggs are very neat. I say couple because of the hourglass on the right side. I think it's got something to do with the mentioning of "time" and "timeless."

Yeah, these super-short "battles" are kind of getting old. Oh well.

Probably new weapons and brand new armor shown in his Mask Maker vs. Skull Grinder.

 

Anyway, I learned that the Okoto letter in the Onua-falling scene (on the right), I learned that it is an "N", which goes to "YIU", so that makes "YIUN". I wonder what what means? Well, we'll find out from Kulta's main episode (probably next) and we'll get a fifth letter. If it turns out to be a "T", I would rearrange the letters to spell "UNITY" because that is like a main theme in the story.

I liked the episode, very fast for all the right reasons BUT MAN Skull Basher was a scrub. For being the coolest set this wave, he really got the shaft. Just one-two, DOWN. I mean, I guess he beat up Onua but it wasn't really that impressive. Just a joke really.

 

But the episode itself was fine. I like the narrator's voice for Kulta. Shame we don't get to see what he is capable of before wearing the Mask of Creation, but this definitely sets up the last episode very well.
