This was getting more and more like one of those stories the turaga use to explain why the sky is full of stars or why the harvest failed this year. Dramatic, yes. Exciting, yes. Realistic? But turning the mask off always made you wonder how you ever lived without it. He took another spoonful to his mouth-- well, at least THAT was more pleasant like this. Lowered heat, lowered sensitivity, and more... imprecise, you might say, taste buds left the stew's flavors to blend more fluently with eachother. Rather than picking each and every note out of the song, you instead listened to the entire melody.So that answers that question. he snarked internally. If only the black and red problem over that way'd quit lookin' at me all smug...She wouldn't, though. A frown gradually crept onto her mask. "Well, Turaga," she said, "this tablet of yours certainly is interesting, though maybe not for the reasons you thought. A lot of the writing's difficult to read (I'm guessing whoever carved it was either insane or in a karz of a hurry), but it does seem to describe some kind of presence in the Mangai. There's some rough directions and a crude map, which we can hopefully use. After that, it just becomes gobbledegook. Keeps talking about 'eyes' and 'fingers' and things like that." The detective didn't mention it, but one repeated phrase sent a chill down her spine: 'it's on my neck'... "But you know the most interesting thing about this 'ancient tablet'?" she continued, handing it back to him. "It's not 'ancient' at all. Look, there's barely any wear. You can even still see some of the stone dust from when it was carved. This was written recently. My guess? In the last month or so." She folded her arms.
