  1. I can't believe it's been this long. MakutaFest started in 2010 as a side project established by The TTV Channel (then The Three Virtues podcast) and the BS01 Podcast (then the... BS01 Podcast. We kinda suck at naming stuff xD).

Does anybody remember the first livestream? I don't. Literally cannot remember it happened, or that it was even a thing until 2011 rolled around. But I honestly cannot imagine what life would have been like during 2010-2016 without MakutaFest. I'm not going to say we influenced the return of BIONICLE (we didn't) or that we kept the fanbase alive (it'd live on without MF) but, personally for myself, BIONICLE would not be the same without MakutaFest. It's what keeps me excited for everything.

With that said, this will be our finale. Our last blast, as it were. Why? Times change, we keep moving forward, and in order to do that we need to say goodbye in a proper venue. For me, that is MakutaFest. For others, they may have already come to terms, and wish to reminisce with the good ol' times of G1, or reflect on what was and could have been in G2. For even more others, they may still be looking for closure, and I do believe MF is the closure we all might be seeking.

So please, feel free to join us on Aug. 19th. It won't cost a dime to attend, it just requires you to go check out TTV's YouTube channel and watch the livestream. Couldn't be simpler.

... Also we're giving away one of BS01's artbooks. Should I have started with that? More info here.

2018? Woah! No clue if anyone still follows my blog but I figured I'd drop by the old forums and reconnect. It's been 2 years since my last post. I'm now in college in Manhattan, and have had a nice part-time job for the last year. I'm still really big on retro video games and my collection is growing by the day. Right now I'm at about 400+ games. I also bought a Switch! Really excited to play more of that. A couple weeks ago I actually broke out some Bionicle parts and tried to finish a project, but didn't get to. Would honestly love to get back to building, but right now I have no time! What free time I can manage I spend on Youtube, with friends, playing video games, or playing guitar.

I figure I'm not 13 years old anymore and can actually say things like my full name and stuff without minding. I came here when I was 11, freaking 8 years ago. Wow! Anyway, I surmise you all know I don't frequent the forums anymore, so if you would care to follow my social media, I wouldn't mind to follow back! I honestly consider you guys as friends, so feel free to follow my instagram, @derekteut!

  3. Recently I managed to find someone selling the Bionicle Quest for Makuta board game online. It was in pretty good condition. An excellent addition to my collection.

I also picked up a few other board games. Just something to do with the kids I work with. One of the games was Monopoly. What did I find inside the box?

    A single Cordak bullet.

The evidence speaks for itself. Family game night turned violent, the Toa Mahri intervened, and there were no survivors. 😔

    Open and shut case.

    Bake him away, toys.

  4. Do not believe his lies and propaganda. Yesterday was not his birthday. Nor is today. Nor will tomorrow be.
  5. Woooooooooooo

EDIT: I hadn't even noticed, I also got me a 3rd-year Huna now.

The Prize: The maker of the winning design will receive a free T-Shirt!

That's all for now. Have fun, and good luck!

What did they do to the blogs this time?

  8. So I've been notably absent on BZP for a long while now, in large part is because of the site slowly plunging further into a death spiral of inactivity. Which I somewhat regret, as I more or less grew up on here. But, leaving reflections on BZP's importance for another time, my main point now is to direct everyone to where my recent MOCs can be found, as they certainly aren't in BBC anymore.

All MOCs of mine going forward can be found on either my Instagram (@ballomnomnom), or my Flickr (Ballom Nom Nom).

  9. So, while hunting for a Mawile, I found a shiny Solrock.

While cool, I wish it was a pokemon I would ever use again. :P

okay this is something that's been on my mind for awhile now and i think it's time i finally say it

now this isn't some big farewell about how i'm never going to come back to BZPower ever again or anything but i've seen so many great people just disappear from here without saying a word, and i don't want to leave anyone who might care wondering why i left or what happened to me.

for a long time, the only reason i kept coming back here was because of my friends, but once i was able to find most of them on other websites i just forgot about BZPower almost entirely. there is literally nothing here to keep my interest anymore, and even excluding that all of the drama surrounding this site is just something i don't need or want to deal with anymore.

i'll always have a soft spot for this site - it's where i met most of my internet friends and when i was younger it was great for talking about Bionicle and Lego. but as time went on it seemed as though the mood of this website changed, possibly because everyone was growing up. i used to think of BZP as a really welcoming site with a friendly community, but now it's just barren and the only discussion that really takes place anymore happens in whatever the latest fuss in the blogs is, and even then a lot of the arguments contain thinly-veiled insults and generally just a negative attitude.

there's not a whole lot else to say, really. if you want to find me elsewhere shoot me a PM and i'll get back to you.

and with that, i say goodbye, BZPower. you used to be fun, but now you're just depressing.

A few things I've worked on over the last two years have finally come out as well, so it's time for another update to the list!

  14. As of July 26th, 2020, I am resigning from BZPower staff and voluntarily requesting to be banned. I can no longer trust or vouch for this site as a safe place for users in light of the admins' failure to meaningfully condemn or punish multiple instances of abuse or harassment perpetrated by staff members against fellow BZPower members.

I will not elaborate at present, seeing as these are not my stories to tell and I do not want to give staff members who disagree with my decision any motivation to censor this message. But rest assured that this is a decision I've been contemplating for weeks, even as I naively held out hope that matters like this might finally be taken seriously.

I would like to extend my condolences to those who have been victims of abuse or harassment by members of this site, and forced to endure the trauma of seeing them maintain good standing within the community, even among those who knew of their actions.

Goodbye, BZPower. I'm grateful for the experiences I've had here, but it's clear to me that my continued involvement in the community will never be enough to make it the kind of safe, healthy, and supportive community that I used to believe it was.

  15. So just like last December (but hopefully a bit more cohesively this time), some friends of mine and I will be hosting a staggered, double elimination Smash Bros Wii U tournament that'll be taking place over the summer.

Before going into detail, though, let me break down a bit of what that means.

Staggered means taking place over a long period of time as opposed to all in one day or one weekend. Basically this just means that it'll be over the summer, with players playing about one match per week, in order to allow for the largest amount of people to play. We all have different schedules, and while I'd love to host something in a small window of time, it seems like there is basically no good time that everyone can show up in.

Double Elimination means that you can lose twice before being knocked out, so if the RNG gods stick you with a tough matchup in the first round, don't worry. You won't get eliminated until you lose twice. This is different than a consolation bracket, because here, even if you lose, you still have a shot at winning the tournament as opposed to simply winning some sort of runner up award.

Ruleset's fairly straightforward, 2 stock, 6 minutes, no items, first to 3 wins wins the match, counterpicking stages after the first match. Stage List will be posted at a later date.

The tournament itself will begin in late May...which then brings up the question of why I'm advertising it in early April. The reason for that is...my PMship expires sometime soon and I'm not sure when.

If you're interested and/or have questions, let me know.

  17. As BZPower's Anniversary Week is drawing to a close, I'd like to say thank you to those of you who have read my few pitiful blog entries. Since BZPower's advertising policy has changed, and since I'm looking to start an off-site blog anyway, I'll probably link to the blog on BZPower once it has been created.

In the immortal words of Tigger, "TTFN -- ta-ta for now!"

(P.S. Is it just me, or is it funny to see the amount of BZPower members saying, "Welp, can't link to my other sites here!"?)

  18. Recently, I've acquired the habit of shrieking things like "No! STAHP! STAHP THE DYING THING!" and "OTP FEEEEEEEELS!" at the TV.

On a completely unrelated note, Vance has been sitting further and further away from me with every new episode. Maybe I need to shower more or something.

  19. And/or the usual "hey world! I'm still alive!" post

    So where have I been?
Mostly busy with life, and finally with a stable internet connection at my PC so expect some more activity from me, I guess. Occasionally, anyway.

Other than that, I missed this place, a lot. And can't help but get nostalgic about the old times of lots of daily activity. Regular display name changes, especially around April 1st (my, what a coincidence) or with whatever tiny trend floated by. (On a side note, I'm delighted to see that the old emoticons are still around. Love these )

Hope you're all doing well! I'll see you around. ^^

Well, I've been rather spotty on this website for a while. Probably will continue to be for forseeable future. Apologies for the delay it lead to with the blog contest; that is all sorted out, and the winner is Hordaki. Really, with only two entries, it was pretty much a coin toss.

Haven't been up to much lately; mostly just been playing Final Fantasy XIV, which has been fun. Never been a serious MMO player, and here I am learning how to be a tank, and actually somehow succeeding. It's nice to have something to do.

Somewhere in here I gotta build something, send it off to the convention circuit. Probably gonna build a new crab.

  21. I like the parts and the gear functions. Kopaka must be working out, look at those shoulders!

  22. First and foremost, I'm beginning to post an epic I've been working on sporadically for the last few years. The prologue isn't that exciting, but I promise that it gets better! Reading Fighting to Survive here.

Secondly, I just learned that Brickfair will be in NJ, while I'm here in Philadelphia, so I'm hoping to be able to make it on Saturday.
