  1. IC: Selamat - Arena Vulcanus Selamat was just finishing his breakfast as the others began to stand. He hoped that they had not been waiting for him. He was perfectly able to eat on the move, and had done so numerous times prior. He rose from his cross-legged sit as if unfolding, feet sliding beneath him and pushing him to a standing position without the aid of his arms, which were occupied by placing his emptied lunch bag into a satchel that was then pushed around to hang at his hip, opposite his sword on the other. He was ready to depart. With an Agori in tow, it seemed? He fancied that it may, indeed, be possible for her to hold her own out on the sand, and he hoped that this was the case, as they would bring dishonor upon themselves if she perished in their company. If the rest of them survived, that is. @a goose @Nato G @oncertainty @~Xemnas~

  2. IC: Luka — Humble Abode in Outer Tajun The air sang as Luka’s titanic blade shot left-to-right, and up-to-down. He was almost through with his drills, and he made an effort to finish off strong. He pictured an opponent at the arena: one who was older and smug, dodging attacks and patiently waiting for an opening that Luka planned to never give. It was a less common tactic to use his sword to overwhelm the rival Glatorian with a flurry of attacks. Usually, an experience warrior waited for the inevitable sloppiness. But in this imaginary sparring session, Luka had already drawn any many foolish attacks. He had used defensive to disarm and disorient multiple times. It was never a bad idea to practice a good finishing flurry. Afterward, Luka used the last of his strength to plunge the great sword into the sandy ground, a ritualistic sign that his training was complete for the day. This would be Luka’s first tournament, and he tried to block out any apprehension with methodical drills. He would need the muscle memory. — Streets of Tajun — After resting and recovering, Luka hiked his way made his into the town square, sword strapped to his back. He had expected things to be more lively than normal because of the tournament, but Luka had still taken aback by all the unfamiliar faces. Not wanting to just stand and stare, Luka began to stroll down the streets, people-watching as he did so. OOC: Open for interaction

  3. Really sorry that I've been MIA for a bit, @Toru Nui, @Daniel the Finlander; I've had other things on my mind lately. Aiming to get a reply up either tomorrow or in the next couple of days! ^^

  4. IC: Somok - Precipere "Obviously, it would be in our best interests to make sure at least some of them get to where they're going and make it back alive," Somok said, "But don't put your own lives at risk unnecessarily. Just make sure they understand we had nothing to do with whatever happened to Ferrum." @Geardirector @Toru Nui

  5. Gathered friends, listen again to our legend of the late happy birthday topic. In the time before time (approx 03/04/1945), BZP member @Mushy the Mushroom was born. And BZP member Bambi thought her birthday was in April, so he didn't make a birthday topic. Shame on him. So, here it is nineteen days late. >_> Happy belated birthday!

  6. IC: Salwa (Precipere) "I just need us to be clear on our goals, Elder," I answered, "what are we hoping to gain and what do we need to expect. For now, it seems to me we're equipped to offer medical help and reconnaisance, between me and Xyde." OOC: @Nato G @Toru Nui

  7. IC: Escus - Arena Vulcanus Escus gave a light chuckle at the Agori's response, which grew into a deeper laugh as the fire Glatorian said his piece. Taking hold of his axe, he rose to his feet alongside him. "Aye, I believe you. I believe that all that's true. But the Agori has the right of it. It's an occupational hazard, a risk we accept if the reward is right. And me, well, I believe in the rewards." Even as he said that, his expression didn't follow his words. His brow was furrowed, and his gaze had the dull quality of someone who was focusing more on what they could imagine than what they could see. OOC: @a goose @Nato G @~Xemnas~ @Burnmad

  8. Dropping in again for no reason, seeing who's about. Still a few folk I remember doing similar now and again, kind of nice. Been doing some self-reflecting recently, bit of therapy and that, you know how it is. Probably should've been doing that as a teenager but eh, better late than never. Actually brought up this place during a few sessions, was very much a place I turned to to be 'validated' when I wasn't getting that elsewhere in my life. Growing up I had nobody around who shared my interests and a lot of folk who just thought I was dumb - so BZP gave me a place to have shared interests, and be seen as 'smart' for knowing a lot of Bionicle lore. And then the 'popularity' and 'fame' I'd get leaking set pictures or kicking off for gay rights or whatever was giving me the attention I wasn't getting elsewhere. And there'd be a bit of a 'fight' mentality in all of that because of dissatisfaction elsewhere in life. A lot of the motivations and brain loops involved back then have persisted over the years - getting quieter, but when I step back and look I can still see that stuff is cycling around in my head a lot. People's opinion of me informs a lot, I do a lot to be valued by people and react badly when I even get the WHIFF that people think I might be dumb or not understand something - it's like I have to 'prove' myself in those situations. It's all able to be traced back, and seeing this stuff laid out like that and mapping it all back just makes it all a lot easier. I can see how my brain naturally functions, and why. Wiped this blog because I mentioned it to a few people IRL and they tracked it down, them seeing how I used to be was not a comfortable thing so I panic deleted as they started reading. Bad times. It's tricky with new people, you get the fresh start with them, but having a previous version of yourself 'preserved' online for them to also see is....yeah it's weird innit. Anyway, things are good overall. It's cool analyzing myself a bit more - always growth to be had, just trying to actively dig for it a little bit more at the minute. Pretty fun and cool. Also, you know what I'm desperate for? A run-down of like, what happened with every BIG NAME person from BZP back in the day. I wanna know where everyone is and when they dropped off the site and why etc. I live for the GOSSIP.

  9. IC: Makua — Ta-Wahi Beach, Deck of the Fowadi No quips emerged from Makua as he continued to listen; a rarity for Makua by any measure. He slowly looked to the side and noticed Skyra Daring in the throes of some sort of stretching exercise. I suppose she can never stop moving for too long, Makua thought. The Ko-Toa wasn’t all that surprised—it seemed like all Toa of Air were like that. Wokapu was jumpy too. Makua who had been more or less stock-still for the last few minutes, took a few steps back and to lean comfortably against the ship’s railing. OOC: @Snelly @Krayzikk @otter @a goose @Void Emissary

  11. IC: Mar (Ko-Koro) Karv made it in after Siika, taking a seat next to where I was standing and fixing his eyes on the Matoran I held at bladepoint with his throat set to growl at the slightest provocation. I nodded as Siika confirmed what I had guessed upon getting a good look at him. This was somebody else besides the person we were looking for, but definitely someone connected to them. "Well, I guess you're just gonna have to tell us where they are, then" I said, directing it at the Matoran who glared back at us with something wild at the edge of his vision. "It'll be a cold day in Karzahni before I tell you anything" he growled, prompting me to look around us as the stark ice-blue walls and to listen for just a moment to the sound of the wind outside. "In my business, that's what we call a poor choice of words" I said with something like a wink, approximated with the shutter on my mask's scope. "I'm sure my partner here can persuade you to see things our way" OOC: @Rahisaurus

  12. NGL, that's actually pretty cool. Even though it lacks the smoothness and shaping of the actual piece (due to the nature of fitting a human head) it's still immediately recognizable as the Shelek and manages to keep that menacing look. Nice job!

  14. Oh my goodness, thank you endlessly benevolent brother Bambi!!! What a beautiful fungi fest! Bahahhaha, your timing is actually perfection! I forgot my own birthday until people reminded me a week prior, and was too tired to open a gift until a few days ago! Thank you again, this made my day!

  15. I can't say anything new that hasn't already been said - I agree that the effect logically would be/should be temporary, especially that emotions are pretty naturally temporary. What jumped to mind with the wording of that power specifically was Axonn's ability to cure insanity. Although that's not a temporary effect, it seemed similar in that it regulates a state of heightened disequilibrium. Perhaps both provide a sort of jolt or emotional reset of sorts.

  16. Looking at the description, the wording of the power is very strange. The way you talk about it in your question I thought it was something in the vein of Rahkshi Anger/Fear powers, forcing a target to feel a different emotion. But looking at the description in the Encyclopedia - "it also brings understanding, turning anger into peace and enemies into allies" - it sounds like something different. Based on that wording, it sounds more like the mask is meant to help ease disagreements, resolve disputes, etc. by somehow giving the parties involved a mutual understanding of one another, and it's through that understanding that peace is achieved (rather than the mask somehow "curing" people of selfish or cruel desires). If all the mask actually does is "spread understanding", then I'd argue that someone who already understands that what they're doing is morally wrong, and are choosing to do it anyway, would be completely unaffected. Addressing the actual question, all of the other powers in canon that effect people's emotional states are temporary, so it stands to reason that the Avohkii's would be as well.

  17. IC: Baszlin - Iron Mahi Where were we, where were we…? Deigning not to sit, the Skakdi stood in the aisle, leaning against the side of the seat across from the Lesterin, crossing his arms. “Ah! Right, yes. See, you’ve got it backwards. He’s doing me the favor in exchange for protection of his person. It’s a noble and just duty that I’ve been charged with.” Grunts of pain and displeasure, mingled with verbal threats and warnings of impending violence emanated from the direction of the engine car, forceful enough to be heard over the howl of rushing wind. The shattered window, as well as the open connector doors, made their current leg of the journey fairly breezy. "Baz, that crazy Toa's trying to kill people." “Hmm. Well, worry not. His manners may be quite rancid, yes, but be assured – I will politely convince him to leave if he misbehaves.” OOC: @Krayzikk

  18. IC: Suran - Ostia, The Dancing Crab Having paid his boarding fee, he figured he might as well spend whatever Mata-nui currency he had left, and ordered himself a bottle of middlingly-priced alcohol to sip. As the first shot wet his palate, he listened in. So this one was leaving to escape the Makuta. He gave a little sideways nod of his head in consideration. Once that idea spread, journeys like this one were sure to become more popular. If he thought to find heroics on this new island though, the Lesterin strongly suspected he would be disappointed. "Empty hope," he muttered quietly, not intending to be heard, but not particularly caring if he was either. "Run from the Kofo-Jaga, straight into the nest of the Nui."

  19. IC: "There's no profit in unnecessary violence." Kiyaku met the Lesterin's eyes without flinching. Her characterization of the Fursic's profession wasn't totally without merit. Pirates cared little for targets that might fight back. She had taken a few herself that couldn't offer much resistance. But her directives were political. What her Toroshu deemed a target, she took care of. There were different options now. "But sometimes dead sailors tell no tales. Their rulers sent them to sail and to guard the same ships my clan dictated I rob. Hedonism requires enjoyment, and I neither enjoyed nor regretted when death was necessary. It's a task like any other." "My clan is gone, and good riddance. They sullied our name before I was born. The Umbraline, too, irritate me. Their certainty. Their self-righteousness. They aren't my problem anymore, either. For the first time I truly am beholden to no one." Something in the Menti's eyes flashed, an energy and ambition behind the words. "Order is shattered. My Honor is no longer tied to traitors. What I have is Power. Power to forge my own rule, my own Order." "I act for myself, and by extension for my crew. They kept their faith with me when no Honor required it. I lead them across the ocean, I brought them here, and I will bring them with me to the restoration of everything that we have lost and more. I will carve out my niche here. Anyone in my way is an enemy to deal with, however I must." She held her hands out to the side, palm up, in expression— and in a strange sort of challenge. "I am what I am. Neither cruel nor kind, but dedicated to the pursuit of my aims." "You told me the Skakdi fight for no reason, squabble and kill only because they can. That seems as stupid to me as it does to you. The world has gone mad. The Dashi here say this is familiar, that what I saw on my homeland is how they have lived for generations. Your home sounds no different. In these strange times I have no problem doing what I must for myself, and for my crew." Her voice lowered, and she rested her hands lightly on her hips. "You seem to me a warrior without a home, without allies, without a cause. Aboard my ship you could find them all. Or at least have a roof over your head and money in your pocket while you search for your own purpose." @Johnny Blocksville

  20. IC: Ela Latos So, without mincing words, the Dasaka was a pirate. Although this wasn't an immediate condemnation, it did make Ela doubletake slightly. Her impressions of "privateers" and pirates were that they preyed on the weak - avoided conflict with anyone that could sink their interests - this went for mainland gangsters as well. The Skakdi back home were similar - although they admittedly were so warlike it was hard for them not to butt heads. However, were this stereotype universal, Kiyaku had obviously broken it already. She'd admitted and known that Ela was a more skilled opponent than her - and yet she'd still gone through the effort to spar with her and seen her capabilities - learn something. It also wasn't as if it was a complete shock to the senses - Ela had seen and guessed she was involved in some occupation that wasn't strictly lawful. As a vagrant, Ela wasn't far off from being a criminal either, considering how some Wahis treated wanderers. "I make it known that I stray clear of lies, so truthfully, the opportunity intrigues me. But I don't abide cruelty - I've seen what some of your ilk do and it is nothing but hedonistic violence. That doesn't intrigue me. It bores me - and it disgusts me." Her eyes were locked straight onto the Dasaka's, and she'd made sure every single word was crystal clear. "Are you different, Lady Fursic?" OOC: @Krayzikk
